Gatton (Tuesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Gatton. Today’s best bet is in race 6.

Mon, 24 Apr, 5:44 AM

Due to flood damage and track upgrades this meeting has been transferred to Gatton which is a country track at the foot of the Toowoomba range. It is a small saucer shaped track which suits front runners. There is a sharp turn into the home straight where runners often spear deep. It is definitely a track for horses with experience there and there are often long priced winners.

QUADDIES (races 4,5,6,7)

Skinny Play: 1,7/3,4/7/3,7

Wide Play: 1,7,9,11/1,3,4,6/1,2,7,9/3,4,7,8

Next Best Bet:  R7 – 7. SALUTE THE PRINCE

Best Roughie: R1 – 6. ANXPENCE

R1 – 12.50pm. Lockyer Valley Residential Village Class 1 - 800m.

No1 ZOU DER ZEE He has raced in better company than this and not been disgraced. Recent form only fair but won't strike a much easier race than this.

No6 ANXPENSE (BEST ROUGHIE) His form around the Downs area and in Toowoomba has been solid. Has plenty of pace and this distance suits on last-start second on a country track.

No4 CAPTAIN LEO Good winner in Toowoomba two starts back and then struck trouble when well beaten last start back in January. Can race well fresh.

No2 MAGIC STREET Has been placed a couple of times in races like this and has never missed a place first-up which means he is a good chance here.

R2 – 1.27pm. War Veterans Three Year Old Maiden Plate - 1400m.

No2 FRENCH DESCENT Has been placed in good city class and this is the easiest race he has struck to date. A claim here offsets the bad barrier.

No8 THE SHEEPISH LION He has shown ability and last-start third at the Sunshine Coast was very good. Not sure the tight track will help but has a class edge here.

No10 GOLDEN SUNSET Has had a lot of chances but never far from the place money in better races than this. He should lead here which makes him hard to beat.

No5 MOBILE Showed some form last time and we liked his trial last week as a guide to his start since October in this.

R3 – 2.02pm. Gatton RSL Fillies and Mares Maiden Hcp - 1400m.

No1 GIFTOFLIFE She has been placed five of nine starts with a latest a good second at Warwick. She has the pace to be in this for a long way. Failed only start this track but on a bog.

No3 HEART OF A REBEL Forget last start Toowoomba failure when struck trouble and go on previous sound placings at Ipswich.

No13 MOSS PRINCESS Has had a few chances but has been placed this track and has an each-way chance in a very weak race.

No9 AWESOME MORE Has raced fairly in better company than this and while coming back in distance this is far easier than last start.

R4 – 2.42pm. Diggers Colts Gelding and Entires Maiden Hcp - 1400m.

No1 GOOD CATCH Last two runs at the Gold Coast have produced minor placings in much better company. This looks ideal from reasonable barrier.

No6 AUSTRALIAN PHAROAH Has had four trials and the latest at Grafton was a good effort. Ready to race well at first start.

No9 WICKED INVESTMENT Has had 20 starts without winning but he has been placed a few times in races like this one. Well beaten last start but go on handy effort when fourth at the Gold Coast previously.

No11 WILD BOYS Another one who has had his chances to win but always gets you in with an unlucky run. One day things will go his way and he will win one of these.

GOOD CATCH Gatton 05:42 - Winner

R5 – 3.17pm. Lest We Forget Class 2 Hcp - 1100m.

No3 STELLAR KNIGHT Last two starts were handy guide to a race like this. Won two races in Toowoomba last year and this looks a nice race for him.

No4 SUGAR RAY RED Won two recent races at Ipswich and had no luck latest when fifth at the Sunshine Coast. This track probably won't suit but better than most of these.

No1 CARRANGALL Good run when fourth at the Gold Coast last start and has been placed this track. Strong claims here.

No6 TWILIGHT MANEUVER Had been racing fairly before last start good fourth at the Sunshine Coast which gives him a chance here.

R6 – 3.52pm. Room Motels Gatton Class 3 Hcp - 1400m.

No7 A NEW SOUND (BEST BET) Well beaten last start in a Saturday city race but loves this track and distance is ideal. Won three of four starts here.

No2 EMVEPEE Won at Eagle Farm back in February and better suited this grade and distance than recent efforts.

No1 BROOKTON ICE Returned to his best form with a strong win at Warwick last start. He might not be suited by this tight track but chance here on last start.

No 9 WINE BARREL Showed plenty of promise early in his career but disappointing in general better run when second this track last start.

R7 – 4.27pm. Gatton Cup Day June 11 Benchmark 62 - 1600m.

No7 SALUTE THE PRINCE (NEXT BEST BET) Good winner two starts back and then ran home strongly last start for third at Warwick. Had to come from a long way back last time and will be closer here.

No3 PRICELESS DE HERO Bolted in at last start at Warwick and a repeat would see him hard to beat again.

No8 TORONTO FLYER Good winner at Ipswich last start and gets in with a light weight after the claim here.

No4 ANNIHILATION Doesn't win many but this isn't overly strong and has been just behind the place in better races of late.
