This is the first meeting back at Eagle Farm since mid-March due to problems with the track surface. Play it very safe here as we get used to the track again and see if the problems are resolved. All horses would get their chances on this big track but it might be wise to watch to see if they are getting towards the outside in the straight. It would mean outside barriers are no set back and horses sitting back in the field and wide with cover would have an advantage.
QUADDIES (races 5,6,7,8)
Skinny Play: 1,3/1,3/1/7
Wide Play: 1,3,5,7/1,3,6,7/1,3,5,6/,1,7,18,10
BEST BET: R7 – 1. DREAMS APLENTY
Next Best Bet: R8 – 7. PRIVLAKA
Best Roughie: R3 – 10. TONI MAY
No5 COLINELLE Has always been highly rated by his stable and a very good winner at first run back from a spell. Likes his runs spaced and should be able to get to the best part of the track here and run home hard.
No8 MISERY Had a lay off when his stable was closed because of a strangles outbreak (he didn't have it). But good first-up winner and a smart short course horse.
No3 STELLA OMBRE Classy galloper who has been placed all three first-up runs without winning. Has the inside barrier here but gets back and watch for him late.
No1 TREVINDER Former Victorian who had good short course form in Melbourne. Nice trial at Deagon recently and has to be a chance this class.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 MISERY
No9 CHIVADAHLII Former Victorian who has run well both starts this area and good third at Toowoomba last time. This is ideal now.
No4 DESERT GENERAL He really is starting to get costly but so is half this field. Good second last time indicates he might be ready to win especially if there is any rain about.
No1 PUNTA NORTE He was terrible first-up in open company and back in the right grade now. On his day he is pretty smart you just have to get his day.
No12 JIM 'N'ANDY This is his toughest task to date and has been very consistent in easier races. Should have won at Warwick last start when third. Will be odds here but has some claims down in the weights.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 JIM 'N'ANDY
No2 RULING FORCE Key to this horse is a dry track. If there is any rain push him down the list of your choices. Won his past two starts in similar company to this and not harshly weighted here after a claim.
No3 FELTRE Class galloper who will be fitter here after finishing midfield at Doomben first-up. Stepping up to the right distance at 1800m and is one who would like some rain.
No10 TONI MAY (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been racing in weaker company without any luck at all for recent seconds. But this distance is ideal, she should be fitter and has a light weight. Definite hope.
No4 DANCE OF HEROES Has been a model of consistency with good placings in similar races at past two starts. He does need a dry track but was placed in heavy going recently.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 TONI MAY
No2 SNITZKRAFT Finished his last campaign with two brilliant wins. Very promising two-year-old heading to Group One races. Has drawn ideally and looks the one to beat.
No1 OURS TO KEEP On paper appears the only danger to Snitzkraft. Won three races including two in stakes company before finishing midfield in the Magic Millions Classic when had no luck. This looks the best quinella race all day.
No5 CAPITAL GAIN Gets a long way of his ground on occasions which means he has been unlucky past few runs. Made up a heap of ground when fourth last time. Bigger straight will help here.
No4 BOLD KINGSTON Landed some long priced bets when a winner at Doomben last start. Fitter than most of these and could be the knock out horse again.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 BOLD KINGSTON
No3 BILLY THE KID We have had a huge opinion of this horse since seeing his first trial as a 2yo last season. Has taken time to mature but placed in a stakes race behind Winning Rupert at last start before a spell in December. Trialled well last week for this.
No7 STORM GIRL Will be big odds here but we liked her recent trial win at Deagon which she followed with a good win at the Sunshine Coast. A horse on the up.
No1 OINK Quality three-year-old who has gone well in trials in lead up to this his first start since February. Usually races well fresh and this suits. The weight is the only worry here.
No5 THE LAST KISS Good trial winner at Deagon in March and forget first-up failure when in wrong part of the track at the Sunshine Coast.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 STORM GIRL
No1 TAKEDOWN The class runner of the field who won in Group One company last campaign. Needed the run when well beaten in the T J Smith in Sydney last time but will beat these if anywhere near right.
No7 TUMBLER Very good mare making her stakes racing debut. Won six of seven races and can run very fast sectionals. Looks the main danger but poorly off at the weights here.
No3 HOPFGARTEN He has won five stakes races and did trial very well at Deagon last week. The 1200m is short of his best but this isn't an overly strong race and has won three times first-up.
No6 MISS COVER GIRL Group One inner who is having her last campaign before going to stud. Trialled only fairly but likes wet tracks and generally goes very well fresh.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 MISS COVER GIRL
No1 DREAMS APLENTY (BEST BET) Has won his past three starts by getting out to the lead and running the opposition into the ground. He was very brave winning at 1600m last start and this isn't much harder. The only worry would be any bias against leaders but he should be able to get to the best part of the track.
No3 SPRING TYCOON Handy three-year-old who has a stakes win in him. Just never has any luck and fitter for last start second to Dreams Aplenty at 1600m in Toowoomba.
No5 REALING Even run first-up but expect him to be a lot fitter as he missed a trial going into that race. He is being set for the Queensland Derby so this distance should suit.
No6 KUBIS Has not won for a while but is yet to run a bad race. Badly off at the weights but this distance should suit.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 REALING
No7 PRIVLAKA (NEXT BEST BET) Has been racing well of late and just failed at Toowoomba last start when had a nice run in transit and ran second. He handles all type of tracks and should get cover here and be on the pace.
No1 LUCKY TOM Brave winner two starts back when led all the way at Doomben. Forget last start when nearly fell in the straight. Will be good odds here.
No8 SHARPE HUSSLER Two runs for a new stable have been only fair but is reportedly working very well. On his day would win this.
No10 IN HIS STRIDE Has had plenty of recent racing and usually runs on to be near or in the minor the placings. Should get the racing pattern to suit here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 LUCKY TOM
