Canterbury for the midweek meeting this week. Seven races on the card and competitive fields with some intriguing racing for us. The rail is out 6m which usually suits on pace horses, but with the track being quite fresh It should be even racing and we are on a good track.
QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)
Skinny Play: 4,6 – 3,4,9 – 3,5,9,10 – 7,10
Wide Play: 4,6,8,9 – 3,4,9,12 – 1,3,5,8,9,10 – 2,7,10
BEST BET: R3 – 9. MALAHAT
Next Best Bet: R1 – 4. ENNUIBest Roughie: R2 – 6. ORGANZA
No4 ENNUI (NEXT BEST BET) comes out of a really good debut race where she ran solid time and figures for the day there. She resumes here off the back of two solid trials and both over the 1000m which I love coming into fresh runs, she looks set up for a debut win.
No1 DREAM I CAN has been running quite consistently of late and looks to get a good run on the map here.
No5 ESTAFETTE has trialled up ok enough leading into a debut run. From gate two she should kick up and be on speed here.
No3 FREE SKY looks to be next best here in the small field. He found the line well enough last start.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 DREAM I CAN
No6 ORGANZA (BEST ROUGHIE) has trialled up in good fashion leading into a debut run here, she is well bred and does have the sticky gate to contend with but I think she is good enough.
No10 SEAGLASS should be improved for the debut run. She gets blinkers on and draws a good gate here with Bowman on board.
No2 GRAND THEFT AUTO should appreciate getting on a drying track here, from the good gate she should be able to take closer attention in the run.
No3 KISSING GAME should improve with experience, but has trialled well coming into the debut run and could cause a shock here.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 ORGANZA
No9 MALAHAT (BEST BET) brings the best form into this race and looks set up for a kill here before going off to bigger and better things in QLD. The form around him is outstanding and is legitimate group class form. He has trialled brilliantly coming into this and should give Beadman a good kickoff.
No7 KEMENTARI is the stable mate to the toppy and has trialled well coming in as well. Avdulla on has me wary.
No1 ANGEL’S BOY has been trialing in scintillating fashion coming into a debut run here. The 1200m is a slight issue on debut.
No5 HONG QIGONG comes out of what looks to be a good race on debut. He gets winkers on here for his second start.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 HONG QIGONG
No6 HIS KYLLACHY ran well through the line at his first Australian start. He drops in weight and gets Clark on board here. The step up to 1900m looks to suit and he should be hard to beat.
No4 NOTHING BOX comes out of a good race last start where the form has already held up. Bowman jumps on here and should have him in the perfect spot.
No9 LEAD CHOREOGRAPHER looks ready to peak here after a tough on speed performance last start. He gets a weight swing on the one who beat him there.
No8 TUMULTUOUS won the race that Lead Choreographer was in last start and really savaged the line (finally). I want to see him do it again before backing him.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 HIS KYLLACHY
No4 SLOW BURN was beaten at the start, last start when missing it. She did savage the line there and now steps to 1250m. The form has held up out of that race.
No3 WAYANKA won well last start and really ran through the line. That form should hold up well and the step to 1250m suits.
No9 RELAXED comes out of a strong race at Randwick last start and should be able to improve second-up from a spell.
No12 FLORENCE HILL comes across from NZ and the Colletts here and the form looks ok enough. Team Collett have been placing their horses quite well and must be respected.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 FLORENCE HILL
No3 YEAH BRAVO won a good race last start on Anzac day, I expect the form to hold up well out of that and the step now to 1550m looks to suit perfectly.
No5 CORDERO won in slick time last start at Newcastle in what looked to be an ok race. The step now to 1550m suits and he has his chance.
No9 MULL OVER should find this easier than her last-start run. The form out of that run has held up quite well and she looks a chance.
No10 SHIELD WALL broke through last start for a well-deserved win. She should take confidence from that. But the step back in distance is the slight concern.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 MULL OVER
No10 MILITARY MACHINE looks well set to continue his winning ways. I love how he has been attacking the line this time in and he is low flying.
No7 BRATISLAVA should improve second-up from a spell here. He found the line well enough upon resuming and should be hard to beat here.
No2 COOLCRAFT has a good second-up record and looks well set to continue that trend here. He found the line well fresh and gets Angland who is low flying.
No12 MASTER AGAR has been trialing in good fashion and looks well set up for a good fresh run here. The form around him is good and he is better than his form reads.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 MASTER AGAR
