The second day of the Doomben carnival and it is going to be a soft track at best. Heavy rain is predicted for Brisbane late in the week and while Doomben is a very good drying track it is going to face a task. It is stakes racing so the fields will be strong and we should have plenty of exposed wet track form. The only problem will be if the weather bureau is wrong again!

No11 HONEY HOLT Didn't go one metre at Eagle Farm last start but she wasn't the only one. This is her pet distance and she usually handles wet tracks.
No7 BLACKJACK BELLA Ran another minor placing last start which was her third this campaign. Usually finds one a bit better but well placed here and handles the wet.
No8 AMERICAN DIVA Gets a long way back in her races but can charge home quickly. Snuck down to win at Wagga last start but can figure here off a likely hot early pace. Handles wet tracks.
No4 LORD COCONUTS Fair run first-up but has been second four times second up. Handles wet tracks and has a good rough hope here.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 AMERICAN DIVA
No9 DREAM KISSES One of the many who got bogged down when first up third at Eagle Farm last start. Has better form than most of these and has raced well this track on previous occasions.
No1 PARDOE Has grown a leg since blinkers were added winning his past two starts. Bred to handle the wet and this is the right class for him.
No2 ALLIED POWER From top Sydney stable with top jockey. Last start won a weaker race at Gosford but despite bad barrier here has claims.
No5 MAGNUFIGHTER Worked well before good win first up at the Sunshine Coast. Has plenty of ability.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 MAGNUFIGHTER
No4 PROMPT RETURN ran very fast time when winning at the Gold Coast last start. Broke 32 seconds for his final 600m and if he does that here will win. Wet should be okay.
No3 HIDDEN PEARL Good run when first-up second and holds the track record for this distance. Five of her wins have been on wet tracks. Bad barrier is the only worry.
No1 MOUNT NEBO It depends how wet the track is because on a heavy he will start short-priced favourite and win. Likes this track and distance so a chance in any going but the wetter the better here.
No5 MR MANHATTAN Stable has a lot of luck when they come to Brisbane. He won a Kembla Grange trial recently and he has good soft track statistics. Respect at odds.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 MR MANHATTAN
No1 TACTICAL ADVANTAGE Consistent Bel Esprit gelding who has been racing in much tougher company than this. OK wet form and handy gate. Will be right in this.
No2 RINGO'S A ROCKSTAR A nice Queenslander who is always there in the end. 2.6L off them last start in the Gold Coast Guineas. Expect a showing.
No10 TIYATROLANI Another coming out of the Gold Coast Guineas.Comes from good stable. Respect.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 SECRET MO
No1 BROOK ROAD Has won only start this track and will find this easier than last start when well beaten in a tough race at Hawkesbury. Likes wet tracks and fitter now.
No7 ELEGANT COMPOSURE Tough mare who looked winner at 200m but just peaked when third in a stakes race first up. Fitter now and twice a winner second up.
No4 SOLD FOR SONG The best mare in the field but once again has a horror draw. Will have to go back and then hope the leaders stop in the straight. But too good to leave out.
No9 BANDA SPICE Quality mare who is first-up here. Likes wet tracks and goes well fresh. Will be good value.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 BANDA SPICE
No1 CANDIKA Tough Queensland filly who got left in front in the Gold Coast Bracelet and did a good job to finish third. Should get cover here and be hard to beat.
No2 KENEDNA Has been racing very well in Melbourne and Adelaide in Stakes company. Has been in training for a while but on form is hard to beat. Has won on soft tracks.
No6 THE PINNACLE Caught the eye with second in the Gold Coast Bracelet and has won on heavy tracks. Been in training for a while but holding her form. Chance again.
No5 OKLAHOMA GIRL Has been in good form in Sydney. Obviosuly much tougher race here but has solid wet track form.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 CANDIKA
No1 IT'S SOMEWHAT (NEXT BEST BET) He was having his first run in five weeks when he won the Hollindale Stakes which followed a win in the Group One Doncaster. In career-best form and will be fitter now. Has won on soft and heavy tracks. Looks too good for this field at weight for age.
No3 SENSE OF OCCASION He was one of the unlucky runners in the Hollindale and should have finished closer. Loves wet tracks and if it rains he will start a second favourite.
No13 RUDY Another unlucky runner in the Hollindale when wide the whole way and finished fifth. Loves wet tracks and drawn much better here. Each-way hopes are strong.
No14 SINGLE GAZE Honest mare who had excuses when second in the Hollindale. She is a proven Group One mare and she has won on soft tracks. She will just need some luck from the wide barrier.
VALUE RUNNER: No13 RUDY
No1 JUNGLE EDGE On a soft to heavy track he will start close to favourite because he is a swimmer of note. Has never won on a dry track. Watch the weather and bet accordingly.
No8 SPLURGE The Kiwi's are back and as always, they bring quality horses. This 4yo is no exception. He won the Group 3 Darkey Plate at Ellerslie and loves a sloppy track. Opie Bosson comes over for the ride. Will be right in it.
No5 ULMANN It's always dangerous when Weir and Allen combine. He stole hia last win at The 'Bool when paying $17, Much harder here but should give a sight.
No14 JOPA The old warrior has been racing against some quality horses. Finished a close 3rd at track and distance on April 17. Good value.
VALUE RUNNER: No14 JOPA
