Rosehill Gardens for our Saturday meeting this week, we have had a few good weeks out wide with Scone / Hawkesbury etc. But now back in the city is good. Unfortunately the weather isn’t on our side as we are going to get a lot of rain ahead of raceday. I am doing the form for heavy racing. The rail is out 3m the circuit.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 1,4 – 4,7,12 – 12 – 6,9,12
Wide Play: 1,3,4,5,6,11 – 1,2,4,7,12,13 – 2,3,4,5,11,15 – 1,6,8,9,12
BEST BET: R4 – 4. SCHEDULE
Next Best Bet: R3 – 1. NEW UNIVERSE
Best Roughie: R6 – 11. DIAMOND MADE
No1 VIRIDINE won in stylish fashion on debut. He over-came a lot of trouble in the run to get the job done right on the line there. For a horse to do what he did on debut was quite impressive. Up to 1200m now and from gate 3 he shouldn’t get caught on the fence again and be hard to beat.
No2 IPSO FACTO hasn’t had much luck in all career runs to date, when fresh he was three wide the trip and had no luck whatsoever again. From gate 7 I am not sure where he is going to get in the run, maybe Collett goes back to last?
No5 CONNOISSEUR was a good debut winner at Kembla and in pretty slick time, being out of a Canny Lad mare he should handle the wet going with no issues and if he has improved after the debut run he has his chance.
No4 ALIK has trialled up in good fashion leading into a debut run here, he has improved trial to trial and on his home track on debut with a claim he has a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 CONNOISSEUR
No3 WHITE MOSS has won the last three on end in really good style, she is by Mossman and should get through the slop quite well. The market is underrating her yet again here as she should be clear fav given how she has won the last three.
No2 GRETNA has found her form recently and should hold it here, she seems to be a wet tracker that loves to roll along in front and should do the same yet again here. The trial between her runs was quite good and she is hard to beat.
No7 PASSAGE OF TIME gets in with no weight here and has been running well so far. With each run he keeps improving and is a winner on wet tracks in the past. The form around New Universe should hold up.
No6 MISS BALLANTINE looked a run short the other day when a month between runs and up to the mile. Back to 1400m is much more suitable for her and the soft hands of Collett give her the best chance possible as well as the blinkers on.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 MISS BALLANTINE
No1 NEW UNIVERSE (NEXT BEST) looks to be a moral on paper given the way he won last start and that he had improvement left in him. But he is 1200m back to 1100m second-up and he is yet to see a heavy track. The Darci Brahma breeding should help him, but it is a conundrum. The positive is that he looks to be a Group horse in the making and class could get him home.
No2 GOOD TIME CHARLIE got the job done in good style last start at Warwick Farm, not too sure about the wet track with him though.
No6 ONCE MORE A LADY gets one more chance back in grade here. Forget last week and go off the fresh run which was good.
No7 KAWAIKINI has been running quite well without winning and was behind New Universe last start and the form ties in with Egg Tart.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 ONCE MORE A LADY
No4 SCHEDULE (BEST BET) has won both starts with authority this preparation, and is proven in wet going which is a big benefit coming into this race. He was well backed last start and got the job done in good fashion at Randwick, out to 1500m suits now and he should be hard to beat.
No10 HAY NOW has bolted in her past two starts, she looks to be a wet tracker and if she is left alone in front she will be hard to catch.
No5 ATTAINMENT is a wet tracker and gets better the heavier it gets, out to 1500m shouldn’t be an issue now and he gets in well with a claim.
No3 DALMATIA PRINCE wasn’t too bad last week in the Scone Guineas, this is a big drop in grade here and he is proven in the wet.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 ATTAINMENT
No5 ALLEZ CHIVAL should love getting back onto wet ground here after a solid first-up run in a good race. She has a really good second-up record and a great wet track record and with the claim she should be able to run up to her best here.
No13 PEPPERBERRY has been trialing up well coming into this first-up run, she has been nothing short of a tease for punters winning just one of ten starts and having short SPs in most starts. She looks to have come back a different horse this time in and has her chance.
No6 ALPEN ROSE finds wet going yet again here and absolutely loves it. D Payne horses also grow a leg on their home track and with the claim and no weight she gets all chances from gate 5.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 ALLEZ CHIVAL
No4 BROADSIDE looks ready to go now third-up to 2000m with a trial between runs. If we get that expected rain, he is going to improve exponentially as he has won twice on wet tracks in the past. He has his chance here.
No1 MONTAUK wasn’t too bad in the Wagga Cup last start and finds a much weaker race than that here. He gets good weight relief with the claim and wet tracks are not an issue for him. If he can get that smother in the run he will be hard to beat.
No3 BE LIKE DAD will be up on the pace here and loves wet going, he just keeps going at the same pace and is a horse who you think will stop, but just won’t. Down to 54kgs after the claim and on his home track he looks to have his chance.
No11 DIAMOND MADE (BEST ROUGHIE) should improve again on wet going, she was a winner of the Adrian Knox last year on a super wet Randwick track. And her run first-up on wet going was brilliant before tackling races that were too hot for her.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 DIAMOND MADE
No7 BERRY DELICIOUS should improve a hell of a lot here on a wet track. She hasn’t run on a wet track for close to a year and her wet going record is just outstanding. Parr jump aboard here and up to 1500m where he has run well at before gives her, her best chance of breaking back into the winner stall.
No12 BELIEVE may well improve here with blinkers on, wet going and out to a suitable distance here. She claims right down in the weights. She has found the line well enough in her first two runs coming into this and up to 1500m now. She gets a soft run and has her chance.
No4 ALEGRIA has a good enough fresh record and the 1500m starting point on a wet track suits her here. She gets the blinkers off and claims right down to 55.5kgs. If Beadman has her fresh enough, she may well finish over the top.
No13 SO WILLIE has found his form and loves wet going, he gets well down in the weights now and I cannot find a reason as to why he can’t make it three from three this time in.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 BERRY DELICIOUS
No12 BONNY O’REILLY got the job done in good fashion when resuming from a spell. I like that she runs here instead of Brisbane on the weekend as this is a weaker race and she has won on wet going in the past. Second-up to 1200m from gate 7 she gets all favours.
No2 MOGADOR has finally been gelded and he now may well live up to that potential that he has. His best races have been fresh and has been thereabouts in many good races. 1200m fresh a bit of question mark, but he should get through the going.
No3 PAINTE loves wet going and has trialled well between runs. He doesn’t win out of turn, but has a great record of running into the major money in races. The gate (17) is a touch sticky, but he deserves his chance.
No5 NOBLE JOEY back to 1200m will roll along here and give them something to run down here. He has a good wet track record and really kicked on well last start in the Provincial Championships, that form has held up well and he has a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 NOBLE JOEY
No9 DAGNY gets blinkers on for the first time here and has trialled well between runs after the failure last start at Canterbury. She is a winner on wet going in the past and has drawn to get a perfect run and looks hard to beat.
No12 ROMNEY’S CHOICE was good enough first-up and should improve second-up here staying at the 1400m. He gets in with just 53kgs here and although barrier 18 is a worry he has his chance.
No6 COTTAGE has a great record over 1400m and does go well fresh. From gate 5 she gets a perfect run of the race here and Angland has been going really well on the Godolphin horses as of late and the trials leading in have been good.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 ROMNEY’S CHOICE
