Ipswich was washed out last Friday but it should have come back to being soft for this meeting. It is yet another midweek meeting which was originally meant to be run at Doomben or Eagle Farm. However, Ipswich has been playing fairly and while the fields are average size and the rail is out along way every horse should have its chance.
QUADDIES (races 8, 9, 10, 11)
Skinny Play: 1,4,7,10/1,2,6/1,6/7
Wide Play: 2,4,7,10/1,2,4,6/1,2,6,8/1,2,6,7
BEST BET: R11 – 7. HONOUR'N'STRENGTH
Next Best Bet: R3 – 2. WOLF TALES
Best Roughie: R5 – 5. WIRRAWAY
No3 TISANI GREY Not really bred to stay but the further he goes the better he goes with a win and two good seconds past three starts. Gets in well at the weights after 3kgs claim.
No2 SHARP SPEEDO Doesn't win often but always about the place money. Very good run last start when second to a Queensland Derby hopeful at the Gold Coast.
No4 NAMIB Very good effort first start this area and then got lost when well beaten at Gold Coast in a far stronger race. Respect back in right grade.
No5 FAIRY DANCER Only plugging away of late and a wet track with a soft lead would give her some claims here.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 NAMIB
No5 DIVISIONAL Gets a weak race here and good second at the Gold Coast last start when overcame problems gives him a great chance.
No7 ROMAN SENATOR Well beaten at the Gold Coast last time but second here previous start was good enough form for this weak race.
No9 EXPERTEA Three runs since a spell at shorter distances have been good. Indicates this distance will suit and will handle a wet track.
No8 BOUCHARD Never a hope in a stakes race at his last start but form previously was solid enough to be a chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 EXPERTEA
No2 WOLF TALES (NEXT BEST BET) travelled three and four deep most of the way when nose second at huge odds last time. Has an in form top jockey this time and very hard to beat.
No1 VOUCH FOR ME At second race start flew home to be second this track. Well drawn here and ready to win.
No6 DIVINE UNICORN He has been the star of the trials this year having won three of them in impressive fashion. He has a terrible barrier here but must be included in the chances.
No10 THE DANGER Had no luck at all at first start when fifth this track. He had trialled well previously and deserves another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 THE DANGER
No6 MR ATTITUDE Ran two handy seconds before a spell including one on this track. Trialled nicely at Deagon for his comeback here and has drawn the rails.
No1 APACHE BOOM First starter who has had four trials and shown ability in each. From the leading stable and has an apprentices claim here but has a tricky barrier.
No2 BAGGINS Has just about sent us to the poor house as something always seems to go wrong in his races. But has a 3kgs claim and a handy barrier so maybe today will be his day.
No4 JEXERLENT Has good form in previously campaigns and not knocked about when third in a recent Gold Coast trial.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 JEXERLENT
No1 WAKE UP JEFF Good winner this track two runs back and then found the class a bit hot when unplaced next start. Much better placed here and has a 3kgs claim which puts him in well as one of the few winners in this field.
No5 WIRRAWAY (BEST ROUGHIE) Has raced in much better company than this and not been disgraced. Very good run first-up and has been placed in a trial since. Drawn to lead or be on the pace here.
No3 MISPRINT The day he jumps with the field is the day he will win. Been third a few times this campaign. Chance if you are willing to take a risk at the barriers.
No10 TAABINGA Good second this track last start and has been consistent. Looks a good each-way hope.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 WIRRAWAY
No3 PINOLINO Was very ordinary last start but go on previous win this track and looks hard to beat.
No2 ATOUCHMORE Most of recent form has been in harder races than this and on his best would be right in the finish.
No6 GREY STEYNE Has won this track and this is far easier than last start well when well beaten but not disgraced against top company.
No10 RED SILHOUETTE Very consistent and didn't appear to handle the heavy track last start unplaced run at the Sunshine Coast. Right in this on previous form.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 GREY STEYNE
No5 WALTHAM Has been racing very well winning past two starts including latest this track. This is strongest field he has faced for a while but does have a 3kgs claim.
No4 CHIVADAHLII Tried in stakes company last start and well beaten. But previous form was solid and much better placed here.
No2 SAGA MISS Promising mare who is dropping sharply in class on first-up defeat at the Gold Coast. Not sure Ipswich will suit her racing style but watch out for her late.
No1 I'M BELUCCI Hard to line him up here because he has twice been placed in elite Group One company but he was terrible first-up. Did cast a plate last time but would want to improve lengths here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SAGA MISS
No4 CRIQUETTE Has had two runs back from a long spell and good winner this track last start. This is harder but has class on her side.
No10 PLUCKY GIRL At first run back from a spell had no luck when third at the Gold Coast. Fitter or this.
No12 DESIRABLE MISS Trialled very well before first-up win this track. This is far harder but a filly on the up.
No8 LADY DUPORTH Has been racing in far stronger events and not been too bad. Has been working well and likes soft tracks and placed three from four starts this track.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 LADY DUPORTH
No2 PRONTEZZA On her day is a very smart mare who is ideally drawn from barrier one. Winner only start this track and looks the one to beat.
No4 SHELTER LADY Her best form is at the Sunshine Coast but not much depth to this which gives her a first-up chance. Nice trial behind some good horses last month.
No6 ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM Strong Eagle Farm winner at last start and freshened up for this. She is a consistent mare.
No1 PRIMED FOR DESTINY She has been racing in much better company. Down in grade and likes it soft. Rarely wins under double figure odds.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 SHELTER LADY
No1 REAL GOOD Best form has been at the Sunshine Coast but he has raced against much better horses than these and been competitive. Should be handier in the run than last start when second.
No6 REVALDOR Looked as though the run would have done him the world of good when first-up third at Eagle Farm. Likes wet tracks and this suits.
No8 JOMAR'S ELEMENT Two runs from a spell have been ordinary but loves this track and distance. Not the strongest field he has ever met.
No2 MARTINELLI No star but usually races well this type of race. Has won three times second-up so rates a chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 JOMAR'S ELEMENT
No7 HONOUR'N'STRENGTH (BEST BET) Long time to wait for our best bet. But we made this horse our value runner in a far harder race at Doomben last start and he came from last to finish fifth behind some smart horses. Should have been at least placed and this is a far weaker race. Also should settle far closer this time.
No6 SNIPETRON Has done the right thing by us winning his past two starts at surprisingly good odds. Has a wide barrier but should lead again and prove hard to run down.
No2 BARNSLEY Good effort last start in similar race to this which followed a Sunshine Coast win. Has a good barrier and the leading jockey.
No1 WHO'S YOUR DADDY Can mix his form but strong Eagle Farm winner last start and has won this track. He has a 3kgs claim here so not off too badly at the weights.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 BARNSLEY
