Eagle Farm (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Eagle Farm. Today’s best bet is in race 7.

Fri, 26 May, 1:48 AM

This is the first Eagle Farm meeting in four weeks due to problems with the track surface. Despite the hard work to fix the problems, there will be real trouble if it rains. One thing we do know about the new track surface is that it chops up quickly. The track will at best be soft. Also, some horses handle it well while others can't go a yard on it. The best option is to follow horses which have previously raced well there.

Next Best Bet: R5 – 9. ORDER AGAIN

Best Roughie: R3 - 5 SAINT PATRICKS DAY

R1 – 12.57am Green Options Racing Benchmark 85 - 1200m

No14 RARE OCCURRENCE Landed some big bets at good odds when first-up Doomben winner. Probably better at that track but has won at Eagle Farm on a soft track. Still down in weights and barrier no worry this track.

No6 BURNING PASSION Sydney horse who trialled well at Randwick in preparation for this. He is very good on heavy tracks and let’s hope that includes Eagle Farm.

No10 TOP TONE Caught the eye when first-up fifth at unsuitable 900m distance at first run from a spell. Noted wet track horse who has won at Eagle Farm.

No5 SAVOUREUX Forget her last start. She's proven at this distance and a drop in class will see her run a very competitive race.

R2 – 1.37pm. Programmed Property Services Lord Mayor's Cup - 1600m

No1 RELIGIFY Probably not a real weight for age horse but that goes for the rest of the field. Very consistent and fought on bravely to win at the Gold Coast last start.

No3 DUCA VALENTINOIS Strong winner in the Scone Cup last start. Another who isn't a real weight for age horse but this is pretty weak and he is in form.

No4 PAJARO Flew home for third in the Scone Cup and has been placed twice this track. Should be in the finish.

No9 SAGA MISS Loves this track with two wins and a second from three goes here. Doesn't like really wet tracks but has to be a hope in this field.

R3 – 2.17pm. Mitavite Group two BRC Sires Produce - 1400m

No1 TANGLED He was suited by a strong early pace when flashed home to win at Doomben. Provided he handles this track, the race should be run to suit again and he looks very hard to beat. Has won on a soft track.

No14 MELODY BELLE Top class kiwi filly who won the Karaka Million and the Awapuni Sires Produce. Has trialled nicely at Deagon since coming here and looks very hard to beat.

No5 SAINT PATRICKS DAY (BEST ROUGHIE) Strong win first up this track in the Dalrello Stakes when looked in need of the run. Fitter now and has won a trial in good fashion since win. Ticks more than a few boxes here.

No7 CAPITAL GAIN He has been crying out for 1400m and although still a maiden he has shown he isn't far off top company. Good value hope here.

R4 – 2.57pm Channel 7 Premier's Cup - 2200m

No8 THE CHAIRMAN He was very honest when second to Stampede at Doomben and rarely far from the place money. Each way again here.

No1 BENZINI Last year's Brisbane Cup winner who was good enough to finish mid field in the Hong Kong Vase. Missed last week because of a wet track but has had two runs and a trial in the lead up to this. Doesn't want it too heavy.

No11 MORENDI He will be big odds here but he loves this track, which is worth lengths in any race. Good winner Eagle Farm two runs back and then got too far back last time.

No6 NEVERLAND This Mare fits a similar, but probably slightly lesser profile to Real Love. Could be ready to strike at anytime and don't forget that Weir polish.

R5 – 3.35pm. Mullins Lawyers Grand Prix Stakes - 2200m

No9 ORDER AGAIN (NEXT BEST BET) Had no luck last start when second in the Rough Habit Plate. Won a restricted race by 7 1/2 lengths this track at previous start. A lot fitter now and looks very hard to beat here. At least we know he handles Eagle Farm and the wet.

No1 PRIZED ICON Group One winning colt who was excellent when second in the Scone Guineas over 1400m. Only worry is this track and stepping up sharply in distance. But handles the wet and has a major class edge here.

No2 VOLATILE MIX South Australian Derby winner who was very strong at the finish. He has had a nice preparation and should be in the finish here. Wet track form is okay.

No5 SHOCKING LUCK Kiwi galloper who had no luck first start this area when second at Ipswich and then far too good in the Rough Habit. As long as he handles this track he will be in the finish.

R6 – 4.15pm. Glenlogan Park Stakes - 1300m

No1 MISS COVER GIRL Group One winner this track who is having her last start before going to stud. Good third first up in the Victory Stakes here and a nice trial since.

No9 SOLD FOR SONG Has been getting too far back in her races but has finally drawn a good barrier and should race handier. Likes this track and fit.

No14 ECKSTEIN On her day is top class and a very good run at Scone last start when fourth in a strong race. Won her only start this track and should be in the finish with light weight.

No8 RAIMENT Walked in two out of three this prep, only failure on heavily biased track she didn't handle at all. One to keep an eye on.

R7 – 4.55pm. Darley Kingsford Smith Cup - 1300m

No1 BLACK HEART BART (BEST BET) The class runner of the field as a five times Group One winner. Didn't have a hard run when unplaced in the Goodwood and he has raced well on this track. Looks hard to beat.

No8 JUNGLE EDGE There is no doubt he is one of the best wet track horses in Australia. Brilliant winner last start in the BRC Sprint. Weight for age the only worry here.

No2 UNDER THE LOUVRE Never really in the race first up at Flemington and is much better than that. He has won on this track and look for a sharp improvement here.

No10 HOPFGARTEN Isn't really suited at weight for age here but does like wet tracks and he does like Eagle Farm. Trialled very well before first-up second this track.

R8 – 5.32pm. Sky Racing Fred Best Classic - 1400m

No5 DREAMS APLENTY Very honest horse who never knows when he is beaten. Made it three in a row last start and should be able to lead and dictate here.

No12 BILLY THE KID Goes well this track and no luck last time at Doomben. Should be handy and able to find the right part of the track in the straight.

No16 SYLPHEED Will be big odds here but didn't have a lot of luck when second at Doomben last start in a similar race to this. Not the worst by a long way.

No8 TESSERA Good run first up with massie weigh. Loves the wet and is obviously going well. Solid run into third, missing out by a nose yet again. Will be fitter third up and ready to peak.
