Warwick Farm for our midweek meeting, we have had good weather in Sydney in the lead-up. We will be on a good track come race time. Nice enough off-season meeting here, some of these could develop into Saturday horses/early spring contenders. The rail is 5m 1000m-W/Post, + 3m Remainder.
QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)
Skinny Play: 2,3 – 2,3,4 – 3,8 – 4,5,7
Wide Play: 2,3,4,6 – 2,3,4,8 – 1,3,5,8 – 1,3,4,5,7,9
BEST BET: R1 – 8. I AM EXCITED
Next Best Bet: R6 - 8. PENSKE
Best Roughie: R5 – 4. CARZOFF
No8 I AM EXCITED (BEST BET) brings the best form to this race, given she is coming out of the Woodlands at Scone on debut, that was a listed race against some nice horses and winners and she wasn’t disgraced at all closing off well. She comes to her home track and steps to 1200m and if she runs up to her debut run, she should win.
No10 MAGIC SEARCH is the stable mate of I Am Excited and was good enough on debut at Scone, out to 1200m suits.
No9 IOWA has been trialing in good fashion leading to a debut run, Waller starts to knock off 2yo races come winter time.
No5 AISANCE has been solid enough in trials coming in and that she is trained on the track gives her a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 IOWA
No6 TIVOLI STREET has been trialing up in good fashion coming into a fresh run here. The form out of his first prep is good enough here.
No5 STAR OF MONSOON what can you say about him? All the talent in the world, but is scared of the winning post.
No2 LAUNCH CODE comes out of two solid races in the first preparation, the trials leading in have been quite good and he has been gelded which adds intrigue.
No7 WESTON comes out of good races coming into this race, but bumps into a nice field. The booking of Shinn helps.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 TIVOLI STREET
No5 RUGOSA ROSE has been trialing in typical Gai fashion leading into a debut run here. She looks to get on speed favors here for Clark who is in dynamic form at the moment.
No4 PALOMINO has been running well this time in and comes out of ok enough races. The form in prep 1 was fantastic however and she should blow them away.
No7 VARESE is a half to Sebring and was good enough on debut, I think that she will appreciate further in time being by So You Think.
No6 SHARPNESS resumes here off a good trial. From barrier 3 she is going to sit just behind the speed and have the last shot.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 RUGOSA ROSE
No2 SEGENHOE got run down late over 2000m at Hawkesbury, the step up to 2200m here is ideal on his home track and the claim for Heywood who rode five at Newcastle on Saturday is a big help.
No3 HIS KYLLACHY looks set to peak here after a brilliant closing run last start. McEvoy from gate 1 he is going to get all favors in the run.
No4 DIAMOND MADE will find this easier than her most recent runs. The 3kg claim for Hunt is a godsend here, and back at Warwick Farm where she ran a peak performance fresh helps.
No6 SUPERBEE has been running in races such as these as of late and going well enough. Shinn jumps on here and it gives her every chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 DIAMOND MADE
No4 CARZOFF (BEST ROUGHIE) tipping this purely on speck looking at his overseas form. Two starts back in a Group 2 in France he was beaten ten lengths by Makahiki, who is a Japan Derby winner. He would win this by 200 yards. Gelded, soft trials and Bowman – all ticks.
No3 PELORUS JACK has been running through the line so well this time in and has shown that ability that I always thought he had. This is a big step up and could be one run too far.
No2 EL NOVIO was good enough when resuming, second-up at 1600m is much more suitable and the claim down to 58kgs helps.
No8 OUR BEATNIK backs up quickly after a solid enough effort last week. He will win a race like this soon enough and will be a price.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 CARZOFF
No8 PENSKE (NEXT BEST BET) won a horrify race in debut, but did it in good style and in time. I like how he goes to a Wednesday race now instead of straight to Saturday level.
No5 EASTERN LEGEND resumes without a trial here. The win when breaking the maiden in a BM72 was fantastic and should measure up here.
No4 COCKLES is having a veery handy prep with a third and two seconds from three starts. He was 2.2L second to Memes in a Class 1 at Hawkesbury. This is a much tougher race but can surprise.
No7 VICEROY is a former Melbourne galloper who has raced against some handy horses. He was 0.9L third at his last start at this track. He gets a good claim here with McDougall aboard and she be right in this.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 COCKLES
No5 NONPAREIL has trialed well between runs and looks well set to peak her fourth-up from a spell. The form around her is good enough.
No7 ROMNEY’S CHOICE has good enough form around her and might have been a touch flat last start. Now that she is third-up from a spell she looks set to peak.
No9 LOVELETTER has been running in some good maidens as of late and got the job done well last start. Yes this is a step up in grade but she has her chance to win again.
No1 GRETNA promising Snitzel filly from the Waller yard. Was an impressive 1.3L winner at this track a couple of starts back in a BM78. This is easier here and with the 3kg claim she should be firing.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 ROMNEY’S CHOICE
