This is the third day of the Swan Hill racing carnival and it will pay to have a close look at how the track is wearing.
There have been hundreds of hooves pounding the surface over the past two days and the rail remains in the True position.
The weather will be cloudy with the maximum expected to peak at 17C after a cold night on 5C.
Trainer Darren Weir has targeted this carnival as he did “The Bool” where he absolutely dominated.

No10 AVANTI ROSE (BEST BET) is only a two-year-old but she did beat older horses at her debut over 1000m in a maiden at Warrnambool on May 27. She gets promising apprentice Lachlan King to ride and his 2kg claim drops her weight to 53kg. She will have the polish of record-breaking trainer Darren Weir, who is targeting this carnival.
No7 SISTER KITTY MAC is a three-year-old filly with upside.
No2 FRAULEIN RUSTIE has been in good form and will wear a tongue-tie for the first time.
No1 BAY OF BISCAY is a veteran galloper who likes the short-courses and respect.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 BAY OF BISCAY
No3 JIMMIAN (NEXT BEST BET) was super imposing when he streaked away to a 2¾ length win over 1000m at Ballarat on May 24. It was another 1½ lengths back to the third horse. He gets top jockey Adnrew Mallyon replacing a 3kg apprentice for this race and he is perfectly drawn in gate three.
No9 DEFINIA is bound to strip fitter on a sound first-up run and respect.
No1 ORUJO has good city form over the short-course and makes appeal here on that.
No8 CAPTAIN CRACKERJAK has won and been placed twice at three starts this campaign.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 CAPTAIN CRACKERJAK
No12 LIKE THE CLAPPERS (BEST ROUGHIE) has been specked in early betting from $41 into $21. He posted an excellent win over 1700m on a bog track at Warrnambool on May 4 as a $3 favourite and is worth watching.
No5 KANIANA is the stablemate to the favourite Plein Ciel. She comes out of Group 3 class in Adelaide where she ran a sound seventh over 1600m at Morphettville on May 20. She gets Harry Coffey to ride and from gate six gets a soft run.
No6 VICTORY DOWNS was only 4.6L of Burning Front two starts back in a Group 3. Has won at the distance before and just needs to bring his A-Game to be very competitive here.
No9 ARTIE'S SHORE
VALUE RUNNER: No12 LIKE THE CLAPPERS
No8 QUEEN OUIJA blitzed her rival to score a runaway 2½ length win over 2100m at Echuca on May 26. She hails from the record-breaking yard of Darren Weir and has top stable jockey Dean Yendall to steer and no weight on 55kg.
No2 CRAVEN IMAGE is chasing his third straight win over the longer trips after winning over 2000m and 2025m at Warrnambool and Cranbourne at his past two starts. Looks the main danger from gate 5.
No6 SAVANNAH MOON she comes here out racing against good city class horses, finishing ninth over 2019m in a feature event at Morphettville on May 20. She ran a good second over 2000m at her prior start at Flemington.
No1 KNIGHTOFTHEREALM ran a solid third over 1950m at Morphettville on May 27. His South Australian form has been rock solid enough for connections to have a crack here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 KNIGHTOFTHEREALM
No7 VUNGERS was an easy winner at Bendigo before returning to the same track to go down narrowly over 1300m on May 23. The three-year-old has won and been placed second twice at six starts and makes good appeal.
No8 ROCKET ALONG is from the stable of champion trainer Darren Weir and has been targeted for this race. Ran a good second over 1200m at Echuca on May 28 in the warm up to this.
No1 CRYSTAL PISTOL has finished in the placings at past five starts. Latest ran second over 11000m at Castlemaine on May 29. He is always in the money and is always well fancied but finds one better.
No5 BERNARA posted an excellent win over 1100m in a maiden at Mildura on May 22. That was only her second start so there is a heap of upside to this four-year-old gelding.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 BERNARA
