Rosehill for our Saturday meeting in New South Wales. Nine races on the card today and with the wet weather around at the minute the track should stay in the heavy range and with the rail back in the true position, horses off the fence in the straight get all advantages. Zamex looks a horse with considerable ability and should go back to back in the Highway.

Best Roughie: R9 – 14. PAKAYA PRINCE
No 2 GAULOIS was solid enough first-up at Canterbury, he looked as if he would appreciate a step up in distance from that. He has proven in his short career that he can handle all types of going and if he improves form the fresh run he's hard to beat.
No 1 HUALALAI was a big winner at Kembla and he may well be ready to live up to the early potential that he promised to show. The trial between runs was brilliant and he looks to be the one to take up the speed here.
No 3 BULL MARKET was a strong winner first-up from a spell at Newcastle, he really ran through the line well that day and up to 1350m now shouldn’t be an issue. McEvoy faces a bit of a task from barrier 8 here, but if he can get cover in the running line here he has a chance.
No 7 GUIPURE has been running through the line well at the trials and indicating that the debut here over 1350m is going to suit here. She may well turn into an Oaks filly in the spring and if she is to do that, she needs to run through the line.
VALUE RUNNER: No 7 GUIPURE
No 3 JUST DREAMING won well last start after coming through the Scone Guineas, she is going to put herself bang on speed yet again from the gate here and if Tommy can just tag Arbitesam in the run and not let him get too far away, he can finish over the top.
No 5 ARBEITSAM gets a good jockey challenge here, and just went too slow in front last start and it probably cost him the win there. Second-up from a spell at the 1400m and with R King on, who is riding brilliantly at the moment he will be hard to run down.
No 2 FARAWAY TOWN found the line well over the 1200m first-up from a spell, her record looks bad. But if you go through the form she has, it is quite good. And now out to 1400m she does look suited with Clark on.
No 7 UPTOWN LAD charged through the line last start and just missed in a driving finish. From gate 1 he is going to get a good run in the race here and just needs some luck in the straight to be in the finish.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 JUST DREAMING
No 2 ZAMEX (BEST BET) won as he liked last start in what was an utterly dominant performance. The step up now to 1500m is just ideal for him and if he jumps as well as he did last start he is going to settle a few pairs back and just needs some cover in running to finish over the top of these, he is better than a highway horse.
SCRATCHED No 3 THE FRICK has been getting the job done well this time in with wins at his last two and may well continue that form here.
No 4 MISTER MARMALADE was set alight early in the run last start and looks the nominal leader here. If he has improved he has his chance.
SCRATCHED No 6 AL CUBANA is an old mate when it comes to highway races and won well last start at Dubbo, wet track a touch concerning.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 AL CUBANA
No 6 TEST THE WORLD (NEXT BEST BET) has been getting the job done for us this time in, with followers being on in all three runs this time in and at good prices. She was scratched last week and I didn’t mind that as it was a tougher race / Randwick. She is a winner here at Rosehill in the past and from barrier 8 she should get a good tag behind them and with Collett on board who is riding brilliantly, she looks the one here.
No 8 FOREIGN AFFAIR comes out of some nice Melbourne races and has been going well enough as of late to have a chance here.
No 10 NONPARIEL gets in with no weight here and was good last start in what looks a strong race, she is a winner on heavy going in the past.
No 2 UPSCALE will want it to dry out over the next few days, but was solid when resuming and has an unbeaten record at Rosehill.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 FOREIGN AFFAIR
No 2 MOSS 'N' DALE comes here chasing wet tracks that he has an absolute love for. The from around him this time in is quite good and he is a winner at Sydney in the past, two starts back he was good enough to beat Plen Ciel, which is good enough here.
No 3 SIGNPOSTED is an absolute duck and will relish the conditions here, last time in he strung wins together on wet tracks by running horses into the ground and if he is left alone in front they will struggle to get past him.
No 4 LIAPARI will get the last shot at them and has gained the services of Bowman, he is a winner on a heavy track in the past and the trial between runs was quite good which is something Waller has done in the past with success.
No 9 MAGICAL STANCE was a strong winner fresh and drops in weight here. Wet going shouldn’t be much of and if he can sit just off them here with his good second-up record he has his chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No 4 LIAPARI
No 10 MONTAUK is crying out for some luck here, and if he is able to get some he will be able to turn his most recent form around. His last 3 he hasn’t had any luck whatsoever and finds McEvoy here from gate 11 who will go back and give him every chance
No 6 SUPPLY AND DEMAND steps up to 2000m and carries no weight at all for King, who gets these front runners to roll along at that right pace. If she is left alone in front on this gelding, like last start he is going to be super hard to run down.
No 1 DESTINY’S KISS will love getting on heavy going here and out to a trip that suits, he is just an honest horse who you would love to own, and is coming off a career best prep last time in, he is a winner second-up.
SCRATCHED No 12 SULTAN OF SWING was the blackbooker last start and gets in with no weight here. The step up to 2000m now looks to be a suitable one here and wet track shouldn’t be an issue for hm.
VALUE RUNNER: No 1 DESTINY’S KISS
No 3 BADAJOZ should be much fitter second-up from a spell here. He was caught on a mad pace in the wrong part of the track fresh and was left a sitting shot late there. From gate 9 Adkins should slide across here and if he sits just behind them with some cover he will be winning.
No 8 SIR PLUSH resumes here and last time in he was a huge winner at the track and distance for the trainer and jockey combo here. He is yet to see a heavy track here in Australia, but he looks to be going well from the trials and is hard to beat.
No 5 SECRET TRAIL finished over the top of them last start at Canterbury. She drops well in weight here and gets what is a good jockey change off a win. The wet track shouldn’t be an issue for her and she has her chance to win again.
SCRATCHED No 6 UPSCALE will want it to dry out before racing, but was solid when resuming and has an unbeaten record at Rosehill, she has no weight in this race and has Avdulla, compared to Bowman earlier on.
VALUE RUNNER: No 8 SIR PLUSH
No 7 CARZOFF keeps Bowman here and was good enough at the first Australian start with 60kgs and he really ran through the line well. Now to 1800m and the big track of Rosehill should suit him much better and he could well blow them away.
No 2 NOUMEA resumes here from Godolphin for his first Australian start and has been trialing up well enough coming into it. I know nothing about the UK form, but he looks to be moving well at the trials and 1800m first-up is a good choice.
No 6 KING'S OFFICER is a great wet tracker and was good enough last start in the Nowra Cup. Yes this is a step up in grade from that, but he is a Saturday winner in the past and finds his preferred conditions here.
No 12 COLLATERAL has found a liking for heavy going in the past and has won his last two quite well. 1800m at Rosehill shouldn’t be an issue for him. But the barrier is quite a tricky one for mine, but T Clark should be able to overcome that.
VALUE RUNNER: No 6 KING'S OFFICER
No 2 INVINCIBLE KNIGHT gets Bowman second-up from a spell and found the line well enough there. The step up now to 1350m is going to be much more suitable and I don’t mind the barrier here as he will be able to wind up and get that lovely cart into it.
No 14 PAKAYA PRINCE (BEST ROUGHIE) has been brought down here for the wet tracks and finds one here. His form in Victoria is more than good enough for this and that McArdle has been able to find Avdulla for this steer really adds to the confidence.
No 10 LAY DOWN THE LAW is the wet tracker of the field and has been going quite well as of late. Now that he gets his conditions it really brings him into contention and with a good claim for Innes he is in this race.
No 6 PICK ME UP is a winner second-up in the past and should improve off the fresh run where he found the line quite well. Wet going isn’t much of an issue for him and he has handled it in the past.
VALUE RUNNER: No 14 PAKAYA PRINCE
