The rail has been shifted out to five metres after they raced here on the true position a few weeks ago.

The good news is the track has dried out and they will run on a Good 4.

The weather bureau has forecast the day to be cloudy but no rain.

Racing here at the return to Sale and with the track predicted to be a Good 4.

It will be chilly with a minimum of 3C and a maximum of 16C.

Looks to be a good meeting but would steer carefully early with four maidens to kick off the nine-race card.

R6 – 2.50pm. Higgins Machinery & Mechanical Service Middle Distance Series Heat 5 – 1617m.

No7 BATTLES END gets the 2kg claim of Georgina Cartwright to drop her weight to a comfortable 56kg. She charged home strong over 1600m here to run fourth on June 1. She loves this track and looms as a good chance.

SCRATCHED No1 GLACIAL AGE will wear cheekers for the first time. He kept working home when running sixth over 1600m here on June 1. That was first-up from a 295-day spell and would expect him to strip stronger for this challenge.

No4 MACQUARIE MAGIC was held up in running before finishing fourth over 1400m here on June 1. He also was caught deep and with a superior run in transit can figure. He is fully wound up having his fourth start from a spell.

SCRATCHED No8 DARK ENSIGN has finished in the placings at three of his past four starts. Latest he ran third over 1400m at Wangaratta on June 6. He was the $3.80 favourite that day and is chasing a breakthrough win at his fifth start this preparation.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 DARK ENSIGN

R8 – 3.50pm. Wynnes Coaches BM70 Handicap – 1008m.

No6 MAGNETAR (BEST BET) has an unblemished record of two starts for two wins first-up. This three-year-old from the leading stables of Team Hayes looks hard to beat first-up here. He has netted two wins and two placings at seven starts and gets top jockey Luke Nolen to ride from gate seven. The stock of I Am Invincible are absolutely flying.

SCRATCHED No7 OUR VIDIA she has a great first-up record and from barrier three gets a cosy run.

No8 TRAMORE COVE is by leading sire Written Tycoon and has won at two of his four starts.

SCRATCHED No3 SECRETAN is back to the provincials after a city start and is better suited here.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 SECRETAN

R9 – 4.20pm. Gippsland Veterinary Hospital BM64 Handicap – 1208m.

No5 TOORAK PLAYBOY was a massive winner at debut when overcoming a torrid run to streak away to a 2¾ length victory in a 3yo maiden over 1200m here on June 1. He goes up 1.5kg to 59.5kg for the win and has drawn wide in 11 but shows plenty of ability.

No3 TYCOON FELIX worked home strongly to be in a bunched finish running third over 1200m here on June 1. He was the hot $2.90 favourite that day and gets senior jockey Brian Higgins replacing an apprentice rider.

SCRATCHED No2 MR OPTIMISTIC won first up over 1000m at Mornington three starts ago. Latest ran a sound eighth over 1000m at Moonee Valley on June 3 against stronger company. Gets top rider Brad Rawiller here.

No11 CUBBY (BEST ROUGHIE) is a lightly-raced three-year-old filly showing potential. Scored an impressive win against 3yo fillies in a maiden over 1300m at Bendigo at her second career start. She is raised in class here but is worth watching.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 CUBBY

R7 – 3.20pm. Donalda Motors Maffra Cup BM78 Handicap – 1617m.

SCRATCHED No7 DATA POINT (NEXT BEST BET) will depend on whether connections go here or at Moonee Valley on Saturday but this is definitely the easier option. Won first-up over 1400m on a bog track at Pakenham before finishing second over 1400m at Sandown on May 27. Gets top jockey Luke Nolen to partner here and from gate three should get a charmed run.

No9 DON’T WE LOVE IT scored a good win over 1500m at Sandown last start and makes appeal.

SCRATCHED No4 RECALCULATE has a perfect record here and is searching for a hat-trick.

SCRATCHED No12 TYPHOON JOLIE plummets in class on her last start at Morphettville.

VALUE RUNNER: No12 TYPHOON JOLIE
