Gold Coast (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 4.
One thing we have learned this winter is that form is not transferring from track to track due to how the surfaces handle rain. For instance the Ipswich Cup winner scored by seven-lengths last Saturday after being beaten ten-lengths into 13th place at Doomben at his previous start. He is just one of many horses to have form reversals in recent weeks. In other words allow a horse one bad run and also look for horses for certain courses. The Gold Coast has had a lot of rain and the track will be rain affected. The rail is out a long way but usually on wet days all horses get their chances.

Next Best Bet: R3 – 2. DAZZLING RED
Best Roughie: R2 – 4. GO DAISY
R1 – 12.00pm. Surfside Buses Maiden Plate - 1200m.
No7 FABERGE LASS At only race start was a good third in a big field at the Sunshine Coast. Trialled well this track previously and looks the best hope here.
No3 SWEET RED WINE She was very unlucky first up last campaign and has been placed on a soft track. Having first run since April but has had a jump out in preparation for this.
No8 ON A HIGH Strong at the finish in a Sunshine Coast maiden when second last start. Has been placed two of three starts but failed only go on a wet track.
No5 COUNT CUMANI Failed badly only start but has had two trials for comeback and his latest was a handy second on a soft track. This is very weak.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 COUNT CUMANI
R2 – 12.35pm. Village Roadshow QTIS Two Year Old Fillies Plate - 1200m.
No4 GO DAISY (BEST ROUGHIE) Has had a few chances but two runs from a spell have been good with the latest a third this track in a stronger race. Has been placed on a soft track and well drawn with an in form jockey here.
No2 COOL MOVER Placed in good two year old company at first campaign and then battled away in a much tougher race at Doomben last start. Has shown plenty of ability in trials and this should suit nicely despite tricky barrier.
No5 GOLDEN SHEAF Trialled well before first start when second at the Sunshine Coast. Has trialled well on a soft track.
No11 SUZY'S ROSE first starter but we liked the way she won a trial at Deagon last month on a soft track.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 SUZY'S ROSE
R3 – 1.10pm. Aquis Farm QTIS Two Year old Colts and Geldings Maiden Plate - 1200m.
No2 DAZZLING RED (NEXT BEST BET) He has run second this track and distance at both his runs from a spell and one was on a soft track. He has the top jockey in Jeff Lloyd here, the inside barrier and faces an average field here.
No4 GWAPO Ran a very good race behind a top colt when second at Doomben in January. First run back from a spell was ordinary but better placed here.
No6 NEVER IN DOUBT Good third at Doomben before a spell and has trialled solidly for a comeback here. Is by a noted sire of wet-track horses.
No11 TRAVERS At first start this area got well back but then hit the line nicely at the Sunshine Coast. Fitter now and out to a more suitable distance.
R4 – 1.45pm. Sky racing Class 1 Plate - 1400m.
No2 ROCK ON DESTINY (BEST BET) At only start this track was a very unlucky third. Won at Ipswich three runs back and has had no luck two runs since. He is by a noted wet track sire and his three runs on wet tracks have been unlucky without him running a place. He should have nearly won here on a soft track two starts back when fifth beaten less than a length.
No11 MIABLA Coming back in distance here but has been placed twice this track in soft going. Suited in this class.
No5 HANOVER SQUARE Ordinary at first start this area but on best NSW form would be in the finish here in what is a weak race.
No3 ATTILA Had a few chances before he won on a soft track in the northern rivers last start. Up in class but might go on with it now.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 MIABLA
R5 – 2.20pm. Trackside Tapas Benchmark 80 - 1100m.
No3 POWERFUL SAGA This is about as far as he wants to go but he led to the shadows of the post in a similar race here last start. He is a three-time winner this track and has won here in soft going.
No6 MAGNUS COR A very good soft track horse who has been racing well in these type of races. Plenty of early pace suits and watch for her late.
No4 VIENNA ROYALE Has been a while between wins but is racing well with minor placings past two starts. Failed only start this track but that was in much stronger company.
No2 HYDRAZINE A noted wet track horse who has been racing well in the northern rivers. Has won twice this track and looks well placed here.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 MAGNUS COR
R6 –2.55pm. Sky Racing Class 2 Hcp - 1800m.
No6 SORNJA Stormed home at short odds to win a maiden this track and distance last start. This is harder but shows plenty of promise. Placed three of four starts on wet tracks.
No1 PINOLINO Recent form around 1600m has been good and placed this track and distance only start here over 1800m. Handles wet tracks.
No4 CONGELATOR Last start was in a Group Two race where got flattened early and never in the hunt. This far easier and good second this track and distance previous start.
No7 MAJOR CONSUL Form has been handy since coming back from a major injury. Has good soft track form and suited this distance.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 MAJOR CONSUL
R7 – 3.35pm. Skyline Restaurant Class 3 Hcp - 1200m.
No3 ACADEMY HILL Great run when third at Rosehill two starts back and then no luck when second in the Casino Cup. Has good wet track form and this looks a nice race for him.
No11 FABVIER Two runs from a spell have been good when he had no luck. Another with good wet track form.
No6 MAJELLA MAGIC Good run first-up when came from well back for third this track. Had trialled well twice before that run.
No2 ZENDAYE Not the most consistent of horses but recent form has been solid for a race like this. Handles wet tracks and each-way claims here.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 MAJELLA MAGIC
R8 – 4.10pm. Sky Racing Class 4 Hcp - 1400m.
No11 LYRICIST Promising galloper who was beaten in a three way finish when second first-up this track. Gets in here well at the weights and should handle a wet track but has never been on one.
MORE PATASI Won two races and then no luck last start when fifth this track. Beaten less than a length in that race and this distance is ideal.
No5 CONSTANTINE He is unbeaten in three starts this area since coming from NSW. All his wins have been at Ipswich but he should handle this track. He has good wet form.
No6 LIBERTY ISLAND Never runs a bad race but rarely wins. Placed three times this track and handles wet going. Each-way here.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 MORE PATASI
