Canberra Acton (Friday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Canberra Acton. Today’s best bet is in race 3.
Canberra’s Acton surface is the meeting for us on this Friday to be covered. As we have seen in the two meetings that they have had, the track has played fairly and all horses have had their chance. The rail is in the true position and the track is Synthetic. For a best bet I’ve settled on a horse out of a Highway in Marco Man (Race 3) he trialled brilliantly on the surface prior to that run and looks suited back to 1206m.
QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)
Skinny Play: 1,6 - 1,5 - 3,4 - 4
Wide Play: 1,6,7 - 1,3,5,7 - 1,2,3,4 - 2,4,6,8
BEST BET: R3 – 3. MARCO MAN
Next Best Bet: R2 – 3. BRIGHT FUTUREBest Roughie: R8 – 6. LIGHTNING ALERT
R1 – 11.55am. NETWORK ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1900m.
No2 STORM ON won well at the track and distance last start, he seems to have found a liking for the Acton surface and has a chance again.
No4 ESSENCE PREVAIL was good last start behind Storm On and meets him better at the weights, but looked to have his chance.
No5 ILLYRIAN backs up after a solid effort on Monday at Goulburn with 60kgs and has a liking for this track.
No1 TRADTRI has a big weight which is offset by the claim, but he is much better than them at his best.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 TRADTRI
R2 – 12.30pm. JAMES MUNRO AO MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP - 1280m.
No3 BRIGHT FUTURE (NEXT BEST BET) did a good job when winning first-up from a spell. He should be improved for that run and that Hyeronimus is coming to Canberra to stick with this horse has to give you confidence. He has an ok enough second-up record and is hard to beat here.
No6 TOUGHERTHANTHEREST was good when winning last start after running into Il Banditio prior. Form on the track is key.
No7 HANGIN’ WITH WILLY has been going well enough as of late and is a chance yet again.
No5 ATTAINMENT has been in better races than this as of late, but runs for the first time on the Acton here, but would have experienced it in track work.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 HANGIN’ WITH WILLY
R3 – 1.05pm. BID WILLIAMS CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1206m.
No3 MARCO MAN (BEST BET) was ok enough in what looks to be a good highway last start where we have seen the form hold up already. I don’t think he ran out the 1400m there and back to the 1200m here is much more suitable. He trialled brilliantly on this surface a month ago and the two runs prior were more than good enough for this.
No4 ON THE FIDDLE is a half to Happy Clapper and was good on debut when winning. No trial coming in has me wary.
No2 SMOKEY FORTUNE gets a good gate here and has been going quite well as of late.
No6 CHUCKLES found the line well last start and come back to Class 1 level here.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SMOKEY FORTUNE
R4 – 1.40pm PEGASUS - RIDING FOR THE DISABLED VOLUNTEERS MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1080m.
No7 SOUTH AFRICA goes on top, on spec. He is well bred and has changed stables since his last prep. The trial was good.
No2 GREY STORM has been going well as of late and finds a race in which he can breakthrough here.
No1 PRINCE JACKO is testing the punters patience with a lot of looming runs at short SP’s, he finds a winnable race here.
No4 PELOPONNESE was good enough last start and again is a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SOUTH AFRICA
R5 – 2.15pm. MARCUS QUINLIVAN OAM CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE - 1750m.
No1 DIZZY DAYS has the least convictions in this field being a last-start winner, up in grade but another average race she is the one to beat.
No6 GO ONE MORE was good enough last start behind Dizzy Days and has a chance yet again here at the weights.
No7 LONDON TIME showed improvement last start when getting onto this surface and has to be respected.
No9 CORTINA BLUE found the line well last start, but has been around a fair few times.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 LONDON TIME
R6 – 2.50pm. RIVERVIEW GROUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP - 1080m.
No1 MAJOR SHARPE comes out of a good race last start behind Clipper and that form is more than good enough for here.
No5 KANERUPT got over the top of them late last start and looks to have found its form. He has his chance again.
No7 OUR FINVARRA just bolted in last start in fast time, step up in grade here but have to respect the win last start.
No3 LORD DENMAN found the line well enough last start after a good win previous to that and should be respected again.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 MAJOR SHARPE
R7 – 3.25pm. ACTSTREME RENDERING MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1280m.
No3 JOUNAMA was poor last start and was really well backed. I am putting that down to a wet track and on his home track / more distance he has his chance.
No4 LIMELIGHT didn’t run out the trip last start and back to the 1280m here, he has his chance.
No1 LIQUID DINNA improved out of sight when getting onto the Acton surface and needs to be respected from the yard it is in.
No2 ALL GOOD comes out of good races at the first two starts and has trialled well coming into this.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 LIMELIGHT
R8 – 4.05pm. HVAC CANBERRA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP - 1280m.
No4 LET IT ROLL bolted up last start in maiden grade last start, up to 55 level is a big step but from the gate he should roll forward again and be the one to beat.
No6 LIGHTNING ALERT (BEST ROUGHIE) is a fast horse, who if produced his best would be hard to hold out here. Stable is quite unreliable though.
No2 UNDER THE EAVES won well last start at Gundagai, back to the home track here gives her a chance.
No8 MONTE AINSLE found the line well last start and drops 1.5kgs for that effort and has to be given a chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 MONTE AINSLE
