Doomben (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 4.
Doomben has had a lot of work lately and is standing up to it well. The false rail is out a long way and the field sizes are small. Usually with rail out the track plays to leaders early and then the back markers can win late in the day.

BEST BET: R4 – 4. SHARPE HUSSLER
Next Best Bet: R1 – 1. KUTTAMURRA AL
Best Roughie: R7 – 3. TECHNO SAVVY
R1 – 12.07pm. Teddy Bears Picnic Maiden - 2240m.
No1 KUTTAMURRA AL (NEXT BEST BET) We made him a special at his last start and did say it was his last chance. He ran second but we were fooled because we understood the winner, who started odds on, was not going to start. But this time he is up against a very weak field and surely he will win this one.
No3 DATUK ZADRAGON Very well bred and minor placed last two over a middle distance. Looks the main danger.
No2 STORMY LEO Plugger who has had a lot of chances but he has been minor placed two of his last three. This is so weak he has claims.
No6 GALLANT GIRL Not a bad run when third at the Gold Coast last start at 1800m and might go better this trip.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 STORMY LEO
R2 – 12.42pm. Thoroughbred Central Maiden Hcp - 1200m.
No1 ALL PLUCK He has had many chances to win but lacks something in the final 100m. But he has been placed his past two starts and gets another chance here.
No10 FABERGE LASS Has trialled well and good effort only start when third at the Sunshine Coast. Scratched a couple of times recently to run here.
No7 SWEET RED WINE Hasn't run since April when form was only fair. But first-up last time looked a certainty beaten in a maiden similar to this. So keep very safe.
No2 CAPITAL CONNECTION Well-bred first starter who caught the eye with his recent second in a trial. Well drawn and from a top stable.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 CAPITAL CONNECTION
R3 – 1.17pm. Mount Franklin Two Year Old Plate - 1350m.
No13 REEF KNOT Very brave at first race start when second in a Gold Coast maiden. Showed speed and drawn to be on the pace for a long way here.
No10 TROMMELSCHLAGEN Very good run last start when third at the Gold Coast after being caught deep. Getting near a win at third start here.
No5 MISPRINT Has been placed four of seven starts and really should have won a couple as he is often slow to jump. If he goes with the field will be hard to beat.
No2 BLACKMAILER Terrible at his only run when well beaten at the Sunshine Coast. Reports are he is much better than that. Give another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 BLACKMAILER
R4 – 1.57pm. Giddy Up Club Benchmark 85 - 1660m.
No4 SHARPE HUSSLER (BEST BET) hasn't won for a while but is racing in solid fashion. Not far away in a stakes race last start but is dropping sharply in class here and is looking for 1600m.
No5 COURT'S STAR Led for a long time in the Ipswich Cup at his last start when tired to be sixth. Back to 1600m and drop in class gives him a real show here.
No7 BLOOMING TYCOON Good Ipswich winner two starts back and then no luck when fifth in a Saturday race at that track last time. Strong each-way hope here.
No6 CARRY ON JAKE Didn't have much luck when fifth in a Saturday race at Ipswich last time and this isn't very hard.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 BLOOMING TYCOON
R5 – 2.34pm. Hamilton Hotel Class 3 Plate - 1050m.
No5 CRAZY POPS Can live up to his name with some wayward pre-race antics but on his day is pretty smart. Forget last start failure at the Gold Coast when had issues and go on previous strong Ipswich win.
No4 TRUCULENT Had little luck when second at the Sunshine Coast on a wet track last start. Better suited here and hard to beat.
No8 KING'S LEGEND Strong at the finish to win at the Sunshine Coast last start. The stable has a very big wrap on him.
No10 JUST EXCEL Promising horse who has won two and been third at his three starts. Gets in well at the weights and has a good barrier. Chance in a tough race.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 KING'S LEGEND
R6 – 3.12pm. Gallopers Sports Club Class 2 Hcp - 1660m.
No2 PRINCE OF TIE He has hit a purple patch of form winning his past two starts in good style. Gets in well at the weights after an apprentices claim.
No1 SNEAKY GLANCE Has won his past two starts at Grafton and the Gold Coast in strong fashion. Getting up in weights but still a top chance.
No6 BROCSON Might be getting close to win after a good third at the Sunshine Coast recently. This race suits.
No10 BOCAGE recent form only fair but got caught in the wrong part of the track last start when fourth at the Sunshine Coast. Suited at 1600m.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 BROCSON
R7 – 3.47pm. BRC.Com.Au Three Year Old Class 1 Plate - 1660m.
No5 ALCAZAR Good winner at first start and nothing has gone right at two runs since. Suited this track and distance and ready to win again.
No10 SHUDA KNOWN BETTER Good second last start and just needs some luck from the wide barrier to be in the finish here.
No3 TECHNO SAVVY (BEST ROUGHIE) Surprise winner at first start but showed it was no fluke when an unlucky fourth at his next start at the Gold Coast. This is easier.
No1 BOLD HEART Has won only one race but always tries hard. Trouble is he is starting to get up in the eights even in Plate races.
VALUE RUNNER: No 3 TECHNO SAVVY
R8 – 4.27pm Weddings at BRC Class 4 Hcp 1200m.
No2 ELJETEM Has had a switch of stables back to Brisbane from Victoria and was very well backed to win a Saturday race at Ipswich but was scratched at the barriers. Going well on the training track.
No4 JACKPOT Good winner at odds three starts back and close up without any luck past two starts. Gets another chance to win here.
No6 SILIQUA Has been scratched a few times because of wet tracks and bad barriers. Poorly drawn again but gets back in his races anyway and has trialled well for comeback run.
No11 MR CHA CHA Hasn't been far away from place money at two runs back from a spell. Fitter now and has a hope this race.
