Sunshine Coast (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Sunshine Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Fri, 30 Jun, 1:33 AM

The biggest meeting of the year at the Sunshine Coast with three stakes races and big fields in most races. The track usually suits those who can get on the crown which runs down the centre of the straight. It means horses running home late can have an advantage. The track rating should be good.

QUADDIES (races 6,7,8,9)

Skinny Play: 3/2,4,5,7/1,5/7,9,11

Wide Play: 1,2,3,7/2,4,5,7/1,5,10,12,17/7,9,11,13

Next Best Bet: R6 – 3. SUPPLY AND DEMAND

Best Roughie: R8 – 5. ZAMEX

R1 – 12.07pm. XXXX Benchmark 90 Handicap - 1000m.

No3 INVINCIBLE EXPRESS (BEST BET) Smart mare who was extremely unlucky last start in the Lightning. This is far easier and on previous form should be too slick for this field. She has beaten some handy horses during her career.

No7 SIR DONALD Very smart galloper who has won his past three starts. He is well drawn here and looks the main danger to the top tip.

No4 MISERY Usually goes well this track where he is unbeaten. Well beaten last two starts but in far harder company than this.

No1 SONY LEGEND Hasn't been far away in harder races than this at last couple. Up in weight here but can win this.

R2 – 12.42pm. Summerveld Racing Stables Benchmark 85 Hcp - 1600m.

No4 STEAMIN’ Building up to a win and was strong third in a Saturday race at Ipswich last start. This suits from a good barrier and with a top jockey.

No1 BLACKJACK BELLA Broke through for an overdue win at the Gold Coast last start. Very honest and not harshly treated after the apprentice's claim here.

No10 HUNDRED Has won this track at big odds and racing in far harder events of late. Back to this trip suits.

No5 DONTPOKETHETIGER Forget last start when in wrong part of the track and on best form would be in the finish here.

R3 – 1.17pm. Butler McDermott Lawyers Ratings Band 0-70 - 1400m.

No4 BOLD PEAK Nearly impossible to tip here in a very open race. But he does race well this track and has a good barrier. Has each-way claims.

No11 NATURAL BLACK Has been racing in solid fashion and has a very good record this track. Another who is well drawn.

No15 SWEET ADALINE Had some handy Sydney form before first-up second this area at the Gold Coast. Has strong claims here at the weights.

No13 UNBOWED He will be huge odds here after getting beaten at Gympie last start. But he does have a good record this track and should be on the pace here for a long way.

R4 -1.57pm. Wimmers Soft Drinks McLachlan Memorial Two Year Old - 1200m.

No1 OURS TO KEEP Forget recent failures in much better races because he just didn't handle the track conditions. Has won a Group 3 race so has class on his side here.

No2 ACCEPTILE Very consistent galloper with a win and seven placings from eight starts. Always tries hard and has pace to overcome the bad barrier.

No4 DYNASTIC Trialled well before good Gold Coast win only race start. Has a big wrap on him and well weighted here.

No11 SAXTON ROCK Won a two year old early in the season but has been a disappointment since. Better run at Ipswich last start and might be ready to fire.

R5 - 2.37pm. BOQ Mooloolaba Three Year Old Hcp - 1200m.

No3 RAJA AMPAT Has been racing well this track and then good third at Ipswich last start. Better suited back on this big track as he runs home hard in his races.

No2 SECRET MO Promising and won first-up at Eagle Farm where the track was so bad it probably dulled him for his next two runs which were fair. Better here.

No8 CARE TO THINK His form has been handy in provincial races and he gets the top jockey here from a handy barrier.

No7 BOLD GYPSY Has won three of his past four starts in easier races but deserves a chance in Saturday company.

R6 - 3.17pm. The Pumphouse Caloundra Cup - 2400m.

No3 SUPPLY AND DEMAND (NEXT BEST BET) Fresh face on the winter carnival scene. Has won his past two starts in Sydney in strong fashion. Stepping up to 2400m but should handle it. The good track will not hurt him and can also handle the wet.

No1 BENZINI Class kiwi galloper who has not run a bad race this winter but has been bogged down by big weights. Has won at 2400m and looks suited against this field.

No2 SELF SENSE Beat the Ipswich Cup by nearly seven lengths after failing in the Brisbane Cup. Has to be rated a chance despite some concern about him handling the track.

No7 WAR BABY Tough as old boots and was a brave effort when third in Tatts Cup last week. Not bred to run 2400m but on form should handle it.

SUPPLY AND DEMAND (NEXT BEST BET) Sunshine Coast 06:17 - Winner

R7 – 3.57pm. HMR Projects Glashouse Hcp - 1400m.

No4 THE VIRGINIAN Brilliant winner first-up but then disappointing next two starts including his run in the Eye Liner Stakes last time when slow to jump. Might go better ridden outside horses and gets his chance here.

No7 MAN OF HIS WORD Had no luck two starts back when fourth in a Listed race and then flew home again from a mile back when third at Doomben. This is ideal for him.

No2 SNIPPETS LAND Not a bad run last time from the outside barrier but has drawn the outside again. But barriers not always vital from this start.

No5 TOO GOOD TO REFUSE Has rattled home to be in the minor placings past two starts in shorter races. Suited this big track and distance.

R8 - 4.32pm XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas - 1600m.

No1 ACATOUR Smart Sydney colt who probably should have won the Eye Liner Stakes last start when held up for a run in the straight. Has won in Listed company at 1600m so top chance again here.

No5 ZAMEX (BEST ROUGHIE) won his past two starts in handy company in Sydney and the 1600m on this track should suit. Has a big finish so watch him late.

No17 MIA ROSA Has had no luck at all of late and dropping back to 1600m on this big track is a plus.

No10 CONSTANTINE Unbeaten in five starts for trainer Chris Munce. Facing a big step up in class but is promising.

R9 - 5.08pm. Yalumba Wines Winter Series Final - 1200m.

No9 PRECISION STRIKE Good winner this track and distance before failing at Kilcoy last start when didn't appear to handle the heavy going. Give another go this bigger track.

No7 JACK LANCASTER He doesn't win many races but he usually goes well this track and a good second here last time. Has a nice barrier and should be handy throughout.

No11 ORADONNA Another who won this track and then didn't handle Kilcoy. Much better off this track which suits her racing style.

No13 COBRA QUICK Another who loves this track and a good winner two runs back. Strong each-way claims in a very hard race.
