Canterbury for midweek racing in NSW, the staple of NSW in the winter gets the job done week in week out for punters. We have a dreary forecast over the next few days and with the track rated soft currently, that’s where we will stay. The rail is out 8m.

No8 CALCULATED has trialled in good order coming into a fresh run here, leaning to this bloke with H Bowman taking this ride over many others he has had. He has the race experience out of a good form race.
No1 LEAGUE OF NATIONS was ok enough first-up. He should strip a lot fitter for that run and have his chance here.
No2 AUCHENTOMAN has trialled in good order coming into a debut run. He had a setback two weeks ago when down to debut and that is my concern here.
No7 SPARKY LAD has been doing a good job at the trials coming into this. I expect him to go back and have the last shot of them from the gate on debut.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SPARKY LAD
No3 MISS QUE (NEXT BEST BET) produced something special on debut when coming from well off them and really charging through the line. She is superbly bred and looks well placed here by Pride. The trial since that run was quite good and just a tickover. She gains Bowman here and she looks to take the next step here.
No5 LONG TIME AGO has trialled well coming into the fresh run here. She should appreciate further later this prep being out of an Oaks winner.
No2 PICARDY ROSE gets a soft run on the map here from gate 1. She claims down to 57kgs and comes out of good form races.
No6 PRIMAVERA broke the maiden in good fashion last start running nippy time. This is a logical next step.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 PICARDY ROSE
No2 SASSO CORBARO just ran out of fitness late on debut and should be much more improved here. Out to 1200m suits better here and she will be hard to run down.
No4 BALLET BABY has been doing a good job at the trials winning the last two. From gate 1 Glyn should possie up and put her into the race.
No7 SOOTHING draws a sticky gate for the debut run (13) and Avdulla will need to come up with plan A and B, I expect him to rush across and sit close in the run.
No10 ORDOS HONOR didn’t have the best of luck first-up and although drawn wide I think she can find a spot behind the leader and stay out of trouble.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SOOTHING
No4 CHATUCHAK has trialled well coming into the fresh run and should have won her last start before spelling. Winkers on for the fresh run suggests she is ready to go.
No5 CUDABEEN won well at the first start for the Snowden team and now gets Bowman on second-up. Barrier 12 a worry however.
No3 SHAHRAZAD has trialled well between runs and has been a touch disappointing this time in. All of her best runs have come at Canterbury and she has her chance.
No10 SO HARD TO CATCH was good in the first preparation and has trialled in imposing fashion coming into a fresh run here.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 SO HARD TO CATCH
No2 STEYNE (BEST BET) won brilliantly first-up when making a long run. If he was ever going to be vulnerable it was going to be fresh over 1350m. He gets out further in distance now which suits him and finds what is a weak race. He is the one with upside here.
No3 LIVE TO DREAM has been doing a brilliant job this time in winning her last 3. The claim for JVO helps here.
No1 COOLCRAFT comes out of a good rating race last start and going up in distance now suits here after finding the line well in the last two runs.
No9 MUTARAKEM has been average in recent times and finds a stronger race here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 MUTARAKEM
No4 OBSIDIAN (BEST ROUGHIE) backs up from Saturday where he found the line ok enough in a better race. I love stayers on the quick back up and no shock to see Glyn push him into the race.
No13 LIFE O’BRIEN beat a coming winner last start and won really well. Down to 56kgs now suits and he has his chance.
No1 SIGNPOSTED has a big weight to contend with here, but should appreciate the soft going and rush forward from the gate and lead. If he gets a soft enough time in front he has his chance.
No3 MULTIFACETS has been going well enough this time in and finds a weak race here (relative to what he has been running in) to strike back to his best
VALUE RUNNER: No4 OBSIDIAN
No13 TIME OUT OF MIND won well at Newcastle and finds another winnable race here. The form around him is fantastic and he has his chance.
No2 BRATISLAVA was poor last start and drops back from Saturday grade to Wednesday now and comes back to where he has shown his best in the past.
No9 BOGIE has a good second-up record and found the line well fresh in a good race, the claim to 55kgs suits.
No14 JONNY GE won well at Gosford last start and Parr stays on here. The barrier (16) is a touch worrying and if he can find cover in the run he has his chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 BOGI
