The rail will be at the nine-metre position for the entire track circumference. Showery conditions were predicted across the three days leading into this Sandown Lakeside meeting and, even though the Track assessment was forecast as a Good 4, there should be enough ‘sting’ out of the ground to favour wet-track runners.

No2 ELLE STREET Overcame a slow start and raced greenly in straight when promising debut winner 100m Wangaratta June 6 then slow away again and over-raced mid-race when game 3.6-length sixth Pure Emotion 1200m Fillies Moonee Valley June 17. Has further improvement and drops in class. Hard to beat despite wide draw.
No1 SMART COUPE Created big impression on debut when sat three wide outside leaders before powering away to 2.75-length win over Fox Swift 1100m Wangaratta Two-year-Old Fillies Maiden June 22. Bound to be better for that experience and rates highly again.
No4 NO REWARD Beat subsequent Moonee Valley winner Pure Emotion 1100m Geelong Synthetic Two-Year-Old Maiden June 2 then struck interference when 2.2-length fourth 1050m Morphettville June 17. Ideally drawn and Oliver goes on here. Big chance to bounce back.
No3 KARDASHING Headed in straight but fought back strongly to beat Miss Toorak Flyer 1200m Pakenham Synthetic Two-Year-Old Fillies Maiden June 8 then led to 200m and tired to 11-length 10th Royal Symphony 1400m Flemington June 24. Will appreciate the easier assignment here and Dwayne Dunn goes on.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 ELLE STREE
No3 WHYOUASK Raced in Group company last spring then resumed with barnstorming photo second Bay Harmony 1200m Mornington Fillies’ BM64 June 12. Promising type who will strip fitter here and will be better suited over extra trip on roomier Sandown track. Ready to produce her best.
No4 GIROUX Form when last in work was solid against quality fillies in city class races. Figured in three-way photo when third Special Diva and Alma’s Rossa 1400m Caulfield Jan. 7 then worked home solidly for 2.5-length fifth Princess Of Queens same trip Jan. 26. Will need luck from wide barrier but showed she was ready for strong first-up showing in recent Flemington jump-out.
No10 MISS SISKA Has a win and a second from only four starts and will be nice and fresh for this. Battled on gamely wide out when 2.75-length fourth Overstep Flemington Fillies BM78 Straight 1200m May 20 then challenged for lead on straightening and tired final 100m when 1.85-length fifth Pedrena 1400m Flemington 10 June. Has to be respected.
No6 MISTY GIRL Most impressive on debut when she sustained a long mid-race run to beat Southern Strategy 1200m Wodonga Fillies Maiden June 17. Better for the experience but will find this tougher. Each-way claims.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 GIROUX
No4 ZAGAYA (BEST BET) Model of consistency with a 1500m Geelong BM70 win and four placings from last five starts. Had a tough run when narrowly beaten by Snipfit 1600m Ballarat BM64 June 15 then fought on doggedly when close second Riyadh 1600m Flemington June 24. Knocking on the door for another win and this looks ideal.
No3 VON CLASSIC HERO Rates a solid first-up chance with two wins from last three starts.
No10 SAVATONE Just behind the placings last five starts and Oliver goes on second-up.
No7 PAKAYA PRINCE Ran in to Heavy 8 track when third Rosehill 1350m last start. Chance on firmer ground and has been placed this track.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 SAVATONE
No1 MISS IANO (NEXT BEST BET) Wet track specialist with wins last three starts and looks to have conditions to suit again here. Easy 3.5-length winner over Mistoffelees 1200m Pakenham BM64 then held on to beat Airino 1000m Fillies BM70 heavy9 May 31. Will carry the same weight here for last-start win with Beau Mertens’ claim. The one to beat.
No6 BRAEMAR Looks a strong first-up prospect with two wins and two seconds last four runs. Has the benefit of a recent Caulfield jump-out.
No2 DIVINE CHILLS Won a similar event two runs back and should give a big sight first-up from inside draw.
No4 LITTLE INDIAN Struck trouble last two runs in tougher company and forward showing expected here.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 BRAEMAR
No4 OUTBACK RAIN Well-supported when headed to Randwick 2000m BM72 but hit Heavy10 track and finished sixth Nettoyer. Finished second Rocbolt 1728m Sale May 17 and beat Living Large 1600m Echuca May 28 before Sydney failure. Can bounce back on more even footing here.
No3 BLACKMAKER Ready to win following two runs this campaign. Not disgraced first-up when 3.7-length eighth Carak 1400m Ballarat C1 then hit the lead and battled on well for 1.5-length second Battles End 1617m Sale BM64 June 18. Extra distance is ideal.
No5 RETICENT Proven wet-tracker who is racing consistently and gets D. Oliver on board here. Beat Howling Wolf 1715m Geelong BM58 Soft6 May 19 then led when 4.5-length second Street Spun 2000m Mornington Heavy 8 June 12.
No11 BRASSY BELLE Has finished close-up at two of three runs this campaign and should strip at peak fitness over more suitable longer trip. Showed plenty of fight when 1.75-length third Penryn Pearl 1800m BM64 this track June 14.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 BRASSY BELLE
No2 SENSATION ALLY She’s a real racehorse this girl and knows how to run through the line. Improved by two runs this campaign and has won third-up on two occasions. Left in front and was a sitting shot when a game 1.4-length seventh Violent Snow 1500m Fillies and Mares BM 84 Moonee Valley June 3. Will be at her peak for this.
No8 FOUR SISTERS Proved too strong for Born Magic 1400m Sandown Hillside Mares BM64 Soft5 May 10 then didn’t handle Moonee Valley track and hung all the way when 10th Violent Snow June 3. Forget last run. She can bounce back on this roomier circuit where she has form.
No12 FIFE Has proven costly to punters but cannot be left out of the chances. Certainty beaten four runs back when 0.75-length second Gold Fontein 1400m Hillside here March 29. Slow out again when fourth Fragonard as favourite Heavy8 this trip April 28 then led to 250m when 2.65-length fifth Iron Machine 1400m Ballarat June 15. Fitter now and worth one more chance.
No3 GOLD FONTEIN Won two of previous three starts before fading last French Emotion 1400m Caulfield Soft 5 April 22. Game winner from Fife over this trip Good3 previous run March 29. Lacerated tongue last start and can bounce back fresh from ideal draw.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 SENSATIONAL ALLY
No2 KALASHANI LAD Racing in great heart with two Sandown wins from last three starts. Raced keenly in the lead first-up when a game third to Rillito over this course May 27 then trailed the field into the straight and rocketed home to beat Kakanui 1000m Hillside BM78 June 14. Will drop back from wide barrier and will be storming home again.
No6 TANGO ROCK Is starting to live up to his early promise with two wins in this campaign. Staved off Aurelius Hero 1100m Ballarat BM70 Soft6 June 4 then nursed to line to beat He’s A Moral 1200m there Good 4 last Thursday. Drops 2kg here with Beau Mertens’s claim and will make his presence felt again.
No8 MURPHY’S REWARD Model of consistency with three wins and six placings from last ten starts. Close second to Yu Long Sneng Hui 1200m Pakenham BM70 Heavy9 May 31 then finished fast to beat Fine Hero 1100m Geelong Synthetic BM70 June 16. Worth some thought despite wide alley.
No12 OSCAR’S MY MATE PA Honest campaigner who has been handy at two runs from a spell and ready to put his best foot forward. Struck trouble when length second Lika Shadow 1000m Echuca BM78 Soft7 May 28 then ran home strongly for 1.3-length fourth Wind Force 1200m Ballarat BM78 Soft6 June 15.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 KALASHANI LAD
No6 VOLONTIERS Goes well this track and should be at his peak following four runs this campaign. Took lead on turn when game length sixth Beale Street 1400m Sale BM64 Soft5 June 1 then flattened at 150m when last Spunlago 1400m Bendigo BM70 Soft5 June 21. Forget last run and watch for big showing with Luke Nolen in the saddle.
No11 AWAKE IN GRINZING Has shown enough promise to be racing in quality company early and should appreciate this class and distance third-up. Kept whacking away when 3.5-length fourth What A Shock 1500m Ballarat BM70 Soft 6 June 15. On the improve.
No5 SENOR ALF Close-up at three runs from a spell and should strip fitter here. Battled on well for four-length fourth Riyadh 1400m Pakenham BM70 Heavy 9 May 31 then carried wide when 1.25-length third Cuban Belle, All Day Every Day Mornington BM64 Heavy 8 June 12. Better suited on slightly firmer ground here.
No16 PRECIOUS JOURNEY Was hopelessly blocked for a run in the straight when 1.8-length fifth Our Mallee Hoff 1600m Bendigo BM64 Soft5 June 21. Improved by recent racing and should be included in multiples.
