Ipswich (Friday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 4.

Thu, 6 Jul, 1:06 AM

Ipswich is yet another track which has had a big work load of late but it is standing up well. The track will be good and the rail is out four metres which means horses near the lead on the home turn should be hard to beat. The fields are average with some depth so we can look for value.

QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)

Skinny Play: 3/2,8,10,11/2,6/2,9

Wide Play: 1,3,5,7/2,8,10.11/1,2,6,8/1,2,8,9

Next Best Bet: R3 – 2. RUBY GURU

Best Roughie: R2 – 7. SILVER FOX

R1 -12.53pm. CHANNEL 7 QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 800m.

No5 IMA FARMBOY has run well at all four starts including two seconds at the Sunshine Coast in stronger races than this. Well drawn and can race on the speed. Looks the winner among the exposed form in a race with many that have not raced or trialled.

No9 ANGEL DANE She was very well backed at her first start but was slow to go and never in the hunt this track and distance. She is reportedly much better than that.

No3 BUXTON Just behind the placegetters in three runs earlier in the season. He has run third in a recent trial when not asked to do much. Drawn well and looks a main player here.

No10 BELLA OCCHI First starter who is bred to be a stayer. Has not had a trial and stable is noted for getting first-up winners. Respect here.

R2 -1.27pm. CITY OF IPSWICH Maiden Plate- 1100m.

No7 SILVER FOX (BEST ROUGHIE) His past two runs have been ordinary but there were excuses. He has been placed in some strong midweek maidens and has barrier one here. Looks a good value chance in a tough race.

No4 OUR RED DOG He has a terrible barrier here but does have pace to overcome it. His recent form at provincial and midweek meetings is good enough to be in the finish here.

No8 SIR TITANITE Hasn't raced since November last year when form was solid without being great. But we liked the way he won a recent Doomben trial which indicates he has come back a better horse.

No9 THE TINMAN Another first starter who has had three trials to get ready for this. Has not been knocked around in two most recent trials and looks to have some potential.

R4- 2.43pm. SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL Class 4 Handicap - 1010m.

No3 GOOD TO BE GREAT (BEST BET) Broke through for an overdue win this track over 800m last start. Has a solid record this distance is well drawn and has a strong rider which is what he needs.

No5 TACTITIAN He has been entered and accepted for so many races this week we are getting confused. But he will probably start here and that means he will be hard to beat. Has run second at past three starts in handy company.

No1 DYLAN'S LUCK He has never really lived up to his name and often strikes trouble. He hasn't raced since March and has not trialled. But on his best form would nearly win this and he has never missed a place first-up.

No7 HIDDEN LIGHT Speedy type who probably needs a soft track to show her best but still a chance here. Good second at the Gold Coast last time when probably should have been closer at the finish.

R5- 3.20pm. RAY WHITE IPSWICH BM60 Handicap - 1010m.

No10 DESIRABLE MISS She was an impressive winner this track two starts back and then her two runs since have been handy in similar races to this on this track. This is the weakest race she has struck and she should be in the finish.

No8 STELLARCRAFT Never a hope when held up for a run when well beaten first up to Toowoomba. But usually races well second-up and this isn't strong. Has a good place strike rate this track and distance so rates an each-way hope.

No11 REMLAPS JOY She is the first emergency here but should get a run. Never in the hunt first-up at the Sunshine Coast last month but her form this track and distance is very good. Rates highly.

No2 BIZARRE ROCK Has been well beaten his past two starts but there were excuses. He has an apprentice's claim here and should be respected.

R6 - 3.55pm. SCHWEPPES Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 2 Handicap - 1350m.

No2 SHARPAMAL Racing well at the Gold Coast here won two starts back and then no luck when fourth at latest effort. He will probably lead here and is in nicely at the weights after an apprentice's claim.

No1 BOLD KINGSTON A two-year-old taking on older horses but he has some strong form for a race like this. Hasn't raced since an average third at Rockhampton in May but has form around some more than handy two year olds.

No6 JACQUERIC Probably should have finished closer when fifth this track at last start in a similar race. Looks the best weighted horse here after an apprentice's claim.

No8 I AM THE WARRIOR He is racing consistently at Toowoomba without winning as he has run three seconds and a fourth at past four runs. Doesn't win many but always an each-way hope.

R7 - 4.35pm. THE QLD TIMES Class 1 Handicap - 1680m.

No2 BRONZEGATE Former Kiwi galloper who has run second at both his Australian starts with the latest at the Gold Coast in a tougher race. Looks the one to beat here.

No8 CRIMSON GOLD Form looks ordinary on paper but hasn't had much luck in three runs from a spell. Needs a firm track and he will likely get that here.

No9 EARLY OPENER He was enormous odds when second at Coffs Harbour on a bog track last start. But it showed he was back near some form and he won't get into a much easier race than this.

No1 DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE He has accepted for Doomben on Saturday in a far tougher race than this. Last start was disappointing when sixth a Doomben in a three year old but he should have nearly won his first-up start at Doomben in a much harder race than this.
