Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 1.
Doomben hosts yet another meeting that was scheduled originally for Eagle Farm. It has had a lot of recent racing and is starting to show the signs of it. There is a bit of depth to most races and there is some value. Once again the track should suit leaders early and then settle down to give back markers their chance. The track rating should be in the good range.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 1,5/2,6,9/4,5,15/5,10
Wide Play: 1,2,4,5/2,6,9,11/1,4,5,6,15/5,10,12,14
BEST BET: R1 – 5. RANCHO MONTOYA
Next Best Bet: R3 – 5. DARKTOWN STRUTTER
Best Roughie: R6 – 5. EL SASSO
R1- 11.37am. VARIETY - THE CHILDREN'S CHARITY QTIS Two-Years-Old Plate- 1350m.
No5 RANCHO MONTOYA (BEST BET) Very well bred colt who was far too good for a maiden against older horses at first race start. He is being talked about as a spring carnival horse and should be too good for this field.
No3 NAKED His past two starts have been good and he was running home hard when second this track at 1200m last start. This distance suits.
No2 ILOVEVEGAS Bolted in with a two year old at Toowoomba last start. This harder but the stable is in great form.
No7 REAL PRINCESS Not a bad run when fourth in a similar race last start. She has raced against some top two year olds and not been disgraced.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 NAKED
R3 - 12.47pm. CALTEX - EAGLE FARM QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1050m.
No5 DARKTOWN STRUTTER (NEXT BEST BET) She couldn't have been more impressive in her two starts this campaign running fields into the ground at Ipswich and the Gold Coast. A bit more depth here but she should still be too quick.
No2 SHE'S OUR STAR Goes very fast in her races and can get fired up. Has been third in better races at her past two starts and will appreciate the drop in class.
No10 BLACK MINK She can mix her form but had no luck last time when mid field in an Ipswich Saturday race. At her best would test this field.
No1 LEGADEMA Showed plenty of potential as an early season two-year-old winning at Eagle Farm and the Gold Coast. He won a trial in good fashion for his comeback to racing here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 LEGADEMA
R4 - 1.22pm. BOQ - VICTORIA POINT BM80 Handicap - 2040m.
No1 LOVING HOME From the powerful Chris Waller stable and has good Sydney form for a race like this. Placed at Randwick last month and has since been second in a Rosehill trial.
No6 COLOUR OF MONEY Another former New South Wales horse who had handy form there. Made up a lot of ground when fourth at Ipswich over 1666m and this added trip helps. Scratched Wednesday to run here.
No5 VIVA ESPANA Has been racing in stakes races without any luck. Covered a lot of extra ground in last week's Caloundra Cup. Suited by the drop in class.
No2 ANYMORE Strong effort to win the recent Gatton Cup. Can mix his form but has to be a chance here. Any rain would help.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 VIVA ESPANA
R5- 2.02pm. BRETT WHALLEY & CO Handicap - 1640m.
No2 MR EPIC Has had two runs back from a spell for a Gold Coast placing and an unlucky midfield run in the Rockhampton Cup. Likes this track and should be back to top fitness.
No5 LORD COCONUTS Has a few niggling problems but at best when came along the rails to win in restricted class at Ipswich last time. The 1600m suits here and has a light weight hope.
No7 WILLIAM WALLACE Kiwi galloper who has won twice this winter in easier races. Not disgraced last start in the Glasshouse Hcp which was far tougher than this. The 1600m suits.
No4 SHEISWHATSHEIS Won a trial in good fashion last week and has been freshened since last run in May. She looks the likely leader here. She is in two races but stable indicated she would probably start here.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 WILLIAM WALLACE
R6 - 2.42pm. SPICERS BALFOUR HOTEL BM90 Handicap - 1200m.
No1 IRISH CONSTABULARY They don't come more honest than this horse and he was a good second this track in stakes class at his last start. Always gives his best.
No5 EL SASSO (BEST ROUGHIE) He will be good odds because his form before a spell was terrible. But he is a multiple Sydney winner and has trialled well twice of late. Looks good value here.
No2 PUNTA NORTE Probably best with the sting out of the track but can race well here. He has had a freshen up since his last run in May and does usually go well this track where he has won four times.
No4 LORDAG Down in class here for return to racing from a spell. Raced in stakes races during the summer without much luck. Has won first-up in easier races but has each-way chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 EL SASSO
R7 – 3.22pm. VARIETY - THE CHILDREN'S CHARITY Colts, Geldings & Entires CL 6 Hcp - 1350m.
No11 BACKSLAPPER Stepping up in class here but last start was a strong winner at Rockhampton. He has won three times in the past ten months and has always had a wrap on him. Looks hard to beat from barrier one.
SCRATCHED No2 BROTHERLY SECRET Didn't appear to handle the Rockhampton track last time when well beaten in the Newmarket there. Go on previous strong Gold Coast win. Never runs a bad race this track.
No6 MONSTER OF ENERGY Honest gelding who won the Beaudesert Cup last start bating a handy field. It was only his second run back from a spell so fitter here.
No9 TAMROOKUM His Gold Coast form is very good with two wins and a second from past three starts. He is drawn to lead this field but only worry is he has failed this track a few times.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 BROTHERLY SECRET
R8 – 4.02pm. KANGA COURIERS Fillies and Mares Class 6 Handicap - 1350m.
No5 CRUISING SPEED Promising mare who has raced well in stronger company than this including a win this track last start. Loves Doomben and is drawn to be on the pace for a long way.
No4 NOTONYOURLIFE Flew home late to just miss catching Cruising Speed this track at her last start. Never missed a place this track and distance.
No15 LYRICIST Promising mare who got caught in the wrong part of the track when well beaten at the Gold Coast last start. On her best form would win this and is fitter now.
No6 QUEEN OF WANDS Strong Gold Coast winner two starts back and then had no luck at all getting a run in the straight until too late in a stakes race at Ipswich last time. Better suited here.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 QUEEN OF WANDS
R9 - 4.37pm. CMG PLASTER QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1350m.
No5 RAJA AMPAT He has been getting back in his races and rattling home late including last week when fourth at the Sunshine Coast in a similar race to this. There should be plenty of pace here which will suit him.in
No12 PRUE'S ANGEL Very good in two wins before last start when never saw the inside rail and well beaten in an Ipswich three year old three weeks ago. Better placed here.
SCRATCHED No10 FABVIER Stepping up in class here but she has been very consistent in provincial and midweek class including a last-start Gold Coast win.
No14 RUNWAY READY Ran a very good fourth in a Highway race at Randwick last start and that followed a solid win at Grafton. This harder but never far from place money.
VALUE RUNNER: No14 RUNWAY READY
R2- 12.12pm. Powertrain Services Class 3 Plate - 1050m.
SCRATCHED No3 TACTICIAN Deserves a win in this class with seconds past three runs, the latest in a stronger race during the Rockhampton carnival. The barrier is no luxury but has pace to overcome it.
No9 KINGS LEGEND He was a strong Sunshine Coast winner two starts back and then no luck when fourth this track last start. Looks a value runner.
No6 EXCEED BATTLE A strong Sunshine Coast winner last start and while this is harder he does look nicely placed here.
No11 BONSHO A surprise last campaign winning two races and being second twice. This is toughest race to date but has the inside barrier and a light weight. Should have won easily first-up last campaign.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 BONSHIO
