Warwick Farm (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Warwick Farm. Today’s best bet is in race 4
Racing comes to us from Warwick Farm for a rare Saturday meeting in Sydney. We have good fields throughout the day. We have had drying weather in Sydney this week and the track should get to a 5 at best and the rail is true. Cosmic Engine is the best bet in R4, he has come back a better horse and looks carnival bound.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 10 - 3 - 2 -- 14,15
Wide Play: 1,2,10 - 2,3,4 - 2,4,7 - 5,7,8,9,14,15
BEST BET: R4 – 1. COSMIC ENGINE
Next Best Bet: R1 – 5. AWESOME PLUCK
Best Roughie: R5 – 4. MARCO MAN
R1 – 11.30am. TAB Rewards Handicap - 1200m.
No5 AWESOME PLUCK (NEXT BEST BET) was one of the best wins I have seen in a long time on debut. He had come out of two brilliant trials and utterly dominated an open age maiden on a showcase day winning by 5.4 lengths. He has had a trial since at the track last week and looked nothing short of brilliant. If he was trained in the city he would be odds on, but he comes from from Port Mac.
No9 MANICURE is the first run for J Cummings taking over the reins at Godolphin. She won well last start and at home she should improve even further.
No4 LUIZA had a big boom on her last spring and hasn’t been sighted for nine months since the debut preparation. At her most recent start she was caught in the slow lane on Cox Plate day and the trials were good.
No3 BROOK MAGIC has been doing the job well for followers at Kembla beating the older horses and running fast time. To her home track gives her a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 LUIZA
R2 –12.05pm. Australian Turf Club Handicap - 1400m.
No4 PHILOSOPHY resumed with a brilliant win at Canterbury, it took her all of the straight to get over the top of them and she did in fantastic fashion. She was well backed there and looked as if she had plenty of improvement in her. She won second-up last time in at this track and is hard to beat again.
No7 NOIRE did the hardest thing in racing when winning last start at Canterbury when having to sit OSL and was dictated to the whole race. She kicked off the turn and looked as if she would bolt in, but knuckled down for what was a tough win. She should improve again off that and be in the finish.
No2 YUMA DESERT dominated the race from in front last start when winning and will look to do the same here. The long back straight from the 1400m will give her a chance to get rolling a long way out and give them something to chase.
No1 PIONEERING has been a touch disappointing this time in where there has been money for her and she hasn’t produced. She backs up quickly now and gets Bowman who is a man possessed at the minute.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 PIONEERING
R3 – 12.40pm. Pro Rata ATC Membership On Sale Handicap - 2400m.
No2 SAYED gets the nod here as he has Bowman on top compared to the apprentice on Collateral. The four runs this time in have been very good and he has not been out of the top two as of yet. The way he ran through the line last start indicated that 2400m is going to suit perfectly. Bowman and Waller. Tick, tick, tick.
No1 COLLATERAL looks to have the winning sequence come to an end here after winning four on the bounce. I don’t like that he has gone from T Angland to N Heywood. The weight part at the end of a staying race is overrated in this level of racing and when you have Bowman carrying level weights against this I have to be against him.
No5 EPSOM HILL was run down late by Collateral last start and really ran an improved race there. Ideally he will want the track to stay as wet as it is now to show his best. But the way he ran last start you have to give him another chance.
No4 EL NOVIO made an improved effort last start. He hasn’t lived up to that early hype that he had on him. But he is honest and will keep on running to the line for you, just without winning. 2400m suits him now and Avdulla will be throwing everything at him.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 EL NOVIO
R4 – 1.15pm. #THERACES Handicap - 1400m.
No1 COSMIC ENGINE (BEST BET) has come back a different horse this time in with two brilliant wins running right through the line both times. The gelding has done the trick with him and with the upward spiral that he is on, a race like the Epsom isn’t beyond him. He carried the 61kgs last start and stays with that here. Bowman stays aboard which just adds to the confidence and he looks to get a perfect run.
No7 SEVENTHCHIC broke through for a well-deserved win last start at the midweeks, the worry is that she loses Bowman, but getting T Clark isn’t much of a downgrade. From gate 1 Clark can just settle behind the leaders here.
No11 LA CHICA BELLA was just nosed out last start by Noire, in a race that looks to be quite strong. Back to her home track now, she looks to have her chance to run along and be hard to beat.
SCRATCHED No10 RESET ME I’M WILD is the X-factor in this race, he won a maiden well on the Synthetic track at Pakenham and is thrown into the deep end here. Smart stable, watch the money.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 LA CHICA BELLA
R5 – 1.50pm. TAB Highway Handicap - 1200m.
No2 SUNCRAZE is the best horse in this race no doubt, but it’s just a case of if he wants to win a race or not. Since the astonishing debut win, he has run second in his following five starts. He looked to have the race shot to bits last start and was run down. This is the weakest race this preparation and if he wants to win he will.
No4 MARCO MAN (BEST ROUGHIE) bounced back last start with what was a strong win after missing the kick, he loomed into the race as if he was going to trot in. But the wide run in transit took its toll. Importantly here he claims down to 53kgs, 5 less than last start and he looks to get a good run.
SCRATCHED No11 ON THE FIDDLE was first-up for a year when fourth behind Marco Man last start, he should be improved for that run, but at the weights he is disadvantaged for a loss to MM. He is a half-brother to Happy Clapper and may well appreciate further. He has been priced due to his trainer, not his actual ability.
No1 NIC’S VENDETTA is a little scared when it comes to seeing the winning post. He was very good when first up from a spell and carries a big weight here. He will come at them late, but I worry if he wants to put them away.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 MARCO MAN
R6 – 2.30pm. McGrath Real Estate Handicap - 1100m.
No10 LAUNCH CODE could well take the next step here after joining the K Lees stable. He has always looked as if he had well above average ability and he won his maiden five weeks ago in great style, you would have to assume he has been kept up to the mark since as he is going from maiden level to a Saturday race straight away.
No1 CADOGAN is going to get the last shot at them here. I expect Collet to ride him dead cold again and come at them with one last burst. He gets back onto a drier track which suits him here and he is well over the odds.
No2 SPENDING TO WIN has trialled in good order coming into a fresh run here. You need to go off his form last time in where he started fav in the Eskimo Prince and was run down late by Man From Uncle. He has a good fresh record and has the services of Bowman to offset gate 15.
SCRATCHED No5 FAITH’S ENCORE resumes here off a good trial and looks ready to go. Being only two-lengths off Samantha and Glenall is more than good enough for this. Snowden thought well enough of her to throw her into the deep end at her last two runs and now at BM level fresh she has to be respected.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 CADOGAN
R7 – 3.10pm. TAB.com.au Handicap - 1600m.
No3 LIAPARI looks the one here, I don’t think he appreciated the quick back up last start and now has had the two weeks between runs and gets Bowman back on board. This is just an average Saturday mile race and he has Bowman on and has the upside.
No2 OLD NORTH just needs to decide if he wants to be a horse or not. He has all the talent in the world, he just doesn’t want to try half the time. Last start was pathetic, whereas the start before that he really ran through the line. On his home track now, maybe that sparks him.
No4 SO WILLIE has been running around in these races for the last few months and has been doing a solid enough job. He is a winner at the track in the past and has his chance yet again.
No5 OLYMPIC ACADEMY has never done anything fresh in his life. But he has had two good trials coming in and starts off at the mile which suits. The claim for King helps his chances too.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 OLYMPIC ACADEMY
R8 –3.50pm. Schweppes Handicap - 1100m.
No2 YOUR WAY resumes here and has an unbeaten fresh record and looks to be placed to keep that record. She really took that next step last time in, and her only defeat was by Invincible Gem who was placed in a Group 1 at her next start, from gate 5 she sits just off them and should be too good.
No7 HOT HIT looks the leader here and is going to give them something to chase. If Adkins with the low weight can kick off the turn he is going to give them something to chase.
No4 SANGIOVESE just got too far back last start and that really hurt her chances there. She now draws a good gate and gets Collett, from that barrier (1) he should have her just behind them speed and she can pounce on them late.
No5 SECRET TRAIL comes out of what looks to be a good form race last start and is now back to mares grade and has to be given a chance again with the claim for Heywood.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 HOT HIT
R9 – 4.30pm. TAB Handicap - 1300m.
No15 TIME OUT OF MIND won well last start at Newcastle off a freshen up. He is now taking on a grade that is much more suitable. Gate 18 isn’t an issue here for me, as Glyn will be able to sit just off them and if he is given a drag into the straight he can finish over the top.
No14 NONPAREIL gets the winkers on here in an effort to sharpen her up. She gets into this race with no weight at all with the claim for Adkins. She is going to get a good run of the race and has her chance.
No9 IMANUI let punters down last time in with some short SP defeats. He has a win fresh un the past and has looked to have trialled well. Ronny seems to have his horses going quite well and they need to be respected.
No7 FRANCESCO went well enough first-up for Newnham and found the line well. Now he comes to his home track and although he has an average second-up record, I am going to look past it as he is in a new stable where he will be getting all the extra attention you get in smaller stables.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 IMANUI
