Wide Play: 3,11 – 1,2,9,10,11,13 – 1,2,5,6,9,10 – 2,4,11,13,14

BEST BET: R4 – 6.  STREET SPUN

Next Best Bet: R2 – 8. OCEAN MAGIC

Best Roughie: R1 – 8. BOLOSSOMO

R2 – 1.30pm. Roger Booth Three-year-old Fillies BM64 Handicap – 1400m.

No8 OCEAN MAGIC (NEXT BEST BET) Was doing best first at the finish when 4.2-length sixth Eminent Son 1000m Soft5 Hillside course here with 56kg June 28. Impressive previous start before let-up when she got home strongly to beat Jester Jewel with 57kg 1300m Geelong Synthetic May 9. Fitter now and the step up to 1400m will be tailor-made. Craig Williams goes on here and that’s a strong pointer.

No5 BELLARIA Honest type improved by two runs from a spell. From winning stable and has Beau Mertens in the saddle.

No1 LADY SKILLS Has a win and three placings last six starts and fitter for first-up third at Sale BM64. Respect.

SCRATCHED No7 GROOVIN’ Had no luck first-up and will appreciate extra distance here with Dwayne Dunn on top.

VALUE RUNNER: No8 OCEAN MAGIC

R3 – 2.00pm. Chandler MacLeod BM70 Handicap – 1400m.

No5 BLUE TYCOON Chased home Overstep and Invincible Al down the Flemington Straight 1100m Good 4 with 54kg June 24. Had been close-up in previous runs Moonee Valley, Caulfield and this track and Beau Mertens should be able to get good cover to ensure he runs the extra distance here.

No12 SEA THE SPARKLE Resuming and will go well fresh. Won first two starts impressively before failing in a strong Flemington 1700m with 58.5kg Nov. 3. Big, strong individual who would have furnished further during her spell. Has plenty of ability and will take tossing.

No3 SPUNLAGO Must be respected on fast-finishing first-up win over Galaxy Raider 1400m Bendigo with 58.5kg June 21. Fitter for the run and stable is in form.

No4 FABULONH  Honest type who had blinkers applied last two runs when just behind the placings. Each-way claims.

VALUE RUNNER: No12 SEA THE SPARKLE

R4 – 2.30pm. Heritage Finance Fillies and Mares BM78 Handicap– 2100m.

No6 STREET SPUN (BEST BET) Has blossomed with blinkers on last two starts and gives the impression the 2100m will prove to be ideal. Box-seated then powered away in straight with 55kg to beat Reticent by 4.5-lengths 2000m Mornington Heavy8 June 12 then chased home doggedly for 2.4-length third Yogi and The Willybe 1800m Hillside course here June 28. Has everything in her favour again.

SCRATCHED No1 WHIRLPOOL Racing well with wins at three of last five starts and must be respected again. Distance is a query but has benefit of Stockdale’s 3kg claim.

No3 MARAUDARMISS Improved by recent racing and will find this slightly easier than recent runs. Each-way.

No4 BIRDS OF TOKYO  Racing consistently and meets Whirlpool slightly better at the weights for 1.5-lengths. Keep safe.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 MARAUDARMIS

R5 – 3.00pm. Ladbrokes Challenge BM78 Handicap – 2100m.

No3 YOGI  Promising type who will be at his peak following three runs this campaign and looks like he’ll relish the step up to 2100m here. Charged home for impressive 1.5-length win with 57.5kg over Simply Invincible 1600m Hillside BM70 here June 14 then came from well back on turn to beat The Willybe by two-lengths with 60kg 1800m same course June 28. The one to beat again.

No11 THE WILLYBE  Former Kiwi with plenty of upside. Led and gave nothing a chance first-up 1400m Warrnambool BM64 Heavy10 with 60kg June 5 then hit the lead on turn and battled on strongly for two-length second Yogi 1800m Hillside track Soft5 here June 28. Meets Yogi  2.5kg better here and is capable of an upset.

No10 SIR VAN DYKE Handy type who will give a good account of himself again. Circled the field and shot clear on straightening to beat Savvy Dresser 2000m Mornington BM64 with 60kg Heavy8 June 12 then had no luck when favourite and 3.6-length sixth Encosta Line 2000m Flemington BM78 Good4 June 24. Will prefer softer track here.

No6 MANAPINE  Former SA Derby placegetter who has been sparingly raced since breaking down. Raced tight between runners second-up when 3.5-length fifth Encosta Line 2000m Flemington with 56.5kg Good4 June 24. Fitter for this.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 THE WILLYBE

R6 – 3.30pm. Clanbrooke Racing BM70 Handicap – 1200m.

No2 BALLET MASTER Showed good improvement second-up when he sat outside the leader and powered away final 200m to beat So Brillante 1208m BM64 Sale with 61kg Good4 July 2. Took on Group company last campaign and is appreciating the drop back in grade this time in. Will strip even fitter here and bound to make his presence felt.

No10 HE’S A MORAL Trialled the winner throughout and chased tenaciously for photo second to Tango Rock 1200m Ballarat BM70 Good4 with 57.5kg June 29. Runs a lot of seconds but Craig Williams goes on here and he should get into a striking position from barrier 1.

No1 PARWAN PRINCE Honest type with two wins and four placings from last six starts who should provide value again here. Ran 1.65-length first-up third Gibbon 1000m Pakenham BM70 Heavy9 May 21 then fought off all challengers to beat Purrpussful 1140m Geelong BM70 Good4 with 59kg June 23. Has the benefit of Boris Thornton’s 3kg claim here and likely to go forward from wide barrier.

SCRATCHED No9 HARD EMPIRE Produced three wins and two placings from seven starts in Tasmania and now in the stable of Darren Weir. Not started since sixth Hot Dipped 1600m Tasmanian Guineas Hobart Good4 Jan. 6. Won three-on-end as a 2YO and impressed in recent St Arnaud barrier trial. Keep safe.

VALUE RUNNER: No9 HARD EMPIRE

R7 – 4.00pm. Thebigscreencompany Fillies and Mares BM70 Handicap – 1600m.

No1 SENSATION ALLY Went lickety-split early but still led until the shadows of the post when close-up eighth She Brings Hope 1400m Mares BM70 last Wednesday. That was only third run from a spell and she will strip much fitter here. Has two wins and a placing from five starts over 1600m and looks set to bounce back with 0.5kg less.

No10 LOVANI  Appreciated the extra distance when she led and fought on courageously for neck second Spanish Reef 1600m Hillside track here Soft5 June 28. Spanish Reef franked that form by winning Flemington last Saturday. Rates highly again.

No2 LADY EFFORT Goes well this distance and will make her presence felt. Led and fought on too well for Tessabelle 1600m Ballarat Mares BM70 Good4 May 24 then took on the boys when ten-length ninth Yogi 1600m Hillside track here June 14. Better placed against own sex here.

No5 CRAFTY DEVIL Fitter for recent racing and has two wins and three placings from seven runs this distance. Had tough run when 2.15-length fourth Zolani 1400m Pakenham Synthetic BM64 June 8 then worked home nicely for 1.5-length second Momentary similar event June 25. Drops 1kg on last two runs and back to Mares company here.

R8 – 4.30pm. The Cove BM78 Handicap – 1600m.

No11 SWEET MELODY  Never runs a bad race and shapes as a solid first-up hope. Had excellent form up to 2400m in last campaign including second to Crocodile Rock 2400m Hillside BM70 Jan. 18 and win over Thunder Connection Lakeside trip with 54kg Good4 Feb. 1. Has won twice first-up and has been improved by two recent barrier trials. Will be running home strongly.

No14 GALAXY RAIDER Had another hard luck story when held up until final 50m when 0.75-length second Spunlago with 59.5kg second-up Bendigo BM70 Soft5 June 21. Placed twice this distance and has won at this track. Drops 4kg here and will be a big show if he gets luck in running.

No4 RIYADH  Racing in career-best form with wins over Robert De Hero 1400m Pakenham BM78 with 58kg Heavy9 and dogged photo victory over Zagaya 1600m Flemington Provincial Plate with 54kg Good4 June 24. Rises sharply in weight but is racing in great heart and has to be respected again.

SCRATCHED No2 STEP THE PEDAL Won five in a row in Tasmania before having first run for Patrick Payne when sound 3.4-length seventh Schism 1400m Flemington Mares BM90 Good4 June 24. Blinkers come off for this and Schism has franked the form further by winning again last Saturday. On trial at the distance but should be kept under notice.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 SWEET MELODY

R1 – 1.00pm. Sheamus Mills Bloodstock Maiden Plate – 1200m.

SCRATCHED No8 BOLOSSOMO (BEST ROUGHIE) Drew wide when placed only two runs last campaign and should land in the box seat here first-up. Worked home well when debut second Strictly Legit 1000m Mornington Dec. 26 then battling third Dame Vassa 57kg 1209m Yarra Valley 3YO Fillies Maiden Jan. 10. Prominent in recent Flemington jump-out so should be primed for this.

No1 EVOPEX Placed at first two starts and should get clear running from outside gate here. Slowly away and held up from turn to 200m when solid 1.75-length third with 58.5kg to Houston Street 1300m Wangaratta Maiden June 22. Chance with luck in running.

No11 STREET IMPACT  Street Cry filly who gained a solid reputation winning 1000m Trial on Pakenham Synthetic June 19. Has done plenty of work since and Craig Williams goes on. Forward showing expected on debut.

No5 SMOOTH HUSTLER Showed plenty of dash in a Caulfield jump-out July 4 and Dwayne Dunn will give him every chance from barrier 5 on debut. Respect.

VALUE RUNNER: No5 SMOOTH HUSTLER
