Will the Bulldogs be able to keep their season alive?
The Western Bulldogs stunned the footballing world in 2017 as they defied all odds to win a drought breaking premiership. This season, however, has been a totally different story with the champs stuck in 11th spot on the table.
All is not lost for the Bulldogs because you have to remember they won the premiership from seventh last season. They showed that if they can sneak into the finals they have the firepower to pull off the upset.
Things are not going well for the Doggies but they have a friendly run home with games against Carlton, Gold Coast, Essendon and Brisbane over the next four weeks.
They are a realistic chance of winning all four matches and should they do that they will be full of confidence and momentum heading into the back end of the season.
The betting markets can overreact though. We saw the Sydney Swans hit $101 for the flag after Round 6 and there has been a similar reaction to the Dogs who are now $51 across the board to go back-to-back.
In many ways it has been a perfect season for Carlton as they have exceeded expectation by winning five games, but it is the way that they have played that has given supporters genuine cause for optimism.
Not to mention they will get another top draft pick to help with their growing list of young stars.
In what promises to be an attacking and high scoring game we do like the Bulldogs as a good anchor for footy multi bets. The other bet that holds appeal is the Total Game Score going over 162.5 which is paying $1.91 @ bet365.
The Bulldogs will release the shackles and this looks one of the stronger players for the weekend. The dream of back-to-back flags will be alive for at least another week.
Toby McLean had 32 disposals last week and is $1.80 here to gain 25 touches or more.
TOTAL GAME SCORE OVER 162.5
