Last Week’s Black Book Runners:

All Too Soon -  Canterbury Race 2 12/07/2017 - 3rd $4.60: Produced another run certainly worth following. Got back against the definitive pattern of the day and ran home stoutly for 3rd. Will definitely be backing up and having something on him next time at a mile.

Blue Tycoon – Sandown (Lakeside) Race 3 15/07/2017 – 9th $4.80: Looked like a run to suggest he’s come to the end of a lengthy prep. Have a look first up next time in before dropping off.

Clear The Beach – Rosehill Race 5 15/07/2017 – 3rd $11: Huge run! Attacked relentlessly in the lead and fought on gamely for 3rd, by only 1.6L.  If he got it his own way he would’ve been right in the finish. A race with less pressure will see him winning.

Zara Bay – Rosehill Race 5 15/07/2017 – 7th $15: Disappointing, forget.

Berry Delicious – Rosehill Race 7 15/07/2017 – 6th $31: Ran on nicely to end up only 1.5L away in a very bunched finish. Don’t want to be extremely positive about the form out of this race, but she’s done it on a good 4 which she resents. Obviously going well, back on a heavy if one does come.

Violent Snow – Caulfield Race 1 15/07/2017 – 9th $19: Disappointing, though with an un-suitable pattern. Had his Christmas when he won at the Valley for us at $31, time to let him go now.

All Out of Love – Caulfield Race 4 15/07/2017 – 10th $15: One of the many runners who suffered badly after the eventual winner Windbern caused absolutely havoc checking off heels. Got going again very late which was encouraging. Seemingly isn’t a fan of Flemington so back to Caulfield should see him go very close and possibly under the radar.

Coldstone – Caulfield Race 5 15/07/2017 – 6th $5: Got shuffled back at a critical stage when the speed when on at around the 500m mark. Did eventually get clear but produced nothing late. Probably came to the end of his prep. I wouldn’t be hopping on next start unless it was off a good break.

Caulfield Black Booker

Bandipur – Caulfield Race 2 15/07/2017 – 2nd $3F: Started the race as a drifting favourite on the back of an absolute demolition job in Moe by 8L last start. Although it’s Moe, he put 7 of those 8 lengths on in the extremely short straight – very impressive.

Was simply no match for the highly spruiked and heavily backed I Did It Again ($4.70), who took the event out by 1.25L. Bandipur was laying in slightly when Mertens asked the question initially, but flattened out nicely over the final 150m. Worth another chance.

Record: 3:1-1-0

Where to Next? 2YO 1200m

Rosehill Black Booker

Mariquita – Rosehill Race 2 15/07/2017 – 4th $12: Have no doubt the winner of this race Insentata is a very smart galloper and the solid enough tempo set early by Girl Sunday might mean we get some good form though the race.

Jumping from the inside barrier Mariquita settled down off mid-field about 5th/6th on the rails. With the inside section superior on the day, James Innes Junior elected to stick to the rails in the straight where he was held up for a run until the final 50m when a split finally came. The mare charged through to grab 4th.

Boasts a 2.2L 4th to Invincible gem 4th up last prep. Has trialled up nicely before two solid runs this time in. Will be peaking 3rd and 4th up, where I’d really like to step in.

Rceord: 14:2-2-1

Where to Next? F&M BM70-80 1350/1400m
