Next Best Bet: R8 – 5. SMOKIN’ BELLA

Best Roughie: R5 – 11. BACK TO THE BOWLER

R1 – 1.00pm. Clanbrooke Racing Handicap – 1000m.

No10 TAQDEES  High-priced Redoute’s Choice filly who showed ability in recent Flemington trial and looks ideally placed from a good barrier on debut. Stable specializes in producing two-year-olds to win on debut and Beau Mertens will give her every chance.

No3 AS IT LIES Impressive effort on debut when she worked hard early to sit outside the leader and hit lead inside final 200m when close second Fleeting Feeling 1000m Cranboune July 6. Showed plenty of fight first-up and is bound to be improved. Only goes around one bend from the 1000m start which offsets the wide gate.

No4 CROWN WITNESS  On debut and drawn to advantage. Wasn’t  knocked about in recent Caulfield jump-out. Keep safe.

No5 ELLE STREET Not disgraced in two runs since beating Royal Disguise 1100m Wangaratta Filllies’ Maiden on debut June 6. Caught wide and had tough run when 6.5-length seventh Smart Coupe 1200m Lakeside track here two weeks ago. Blinkers go on here so forward showing expected.

R2 – 1.30pm. Yarramalong Racing Club Handicap – 1000m.

SCRATCHED No2 BLACKWOLF RUN Showed dash to lead and battle on for 2.85-length third Cao Cao, Kedelston in high-quality Moonee Valley 1000m Nov. 26. Has been held back to the field in two recent jump-outs to enable him to settle better. Suited in slightly easier company here and commands respect.

No3 BOWERMAN Snitzel colt who has joined the red-hot Hayes/Dabernig stable since running on well for debut third Khan, Condor Heroes 1000m Randwick Breeders’ Plate Good4 Oct. 1. Big lump of a colt who would have benefitted  greatly from solid hit-out in recent Flemington trial. Rates highly.

SCRATCHED No5 STAR HILLS Had moderate support on debut when he sprinted clear final 150m to easily beat Liu Bei 1002m Donald Soft7 July 8. Couldn’t have been more impressive on debut and will be further improved with that run. Should measure up to the stiffer company here.

No4 HOLY BLADE Won on debut 975m Swan Hill 2Yr Maiden Soft 5 June 10 then slowly away and doing best work late when two-length fourth Elite Legacy 1000m Hillside track here June 28. Will be better with blinkers on here and also has Craig Williams in the saddle.

R3 – 2.00pm. Resimax Group Handicap – 1300m.

No7 BOORADLEY (BEST BET) Form is hard to fault with a win and two placings from only three runs. Shot clear final 100m to beat Accelerato 1000m Bendigo Maiden Soft 5 with 58kg June 3 then was doing best work at finish when 0.85-length third Eminent Son 1000m this track June 28. Is crying out for more ground and gets the distance to suit here with Beau Mertens to ride.

No2 MR SINATRA  model of consistency but drawn wide here. Ran third to subsequent Caulfield winner Moonlites Choice Swan Hill before winning Ballarat C1 1200m June 29. Respect.

No8 VIN FIZ  Racing in great heart and drawn to get a good run here.

No5 BEL BLASTER Mornington winner who is fitter for first-up second at Sale BM64 July 2. Keep safe.

R4 – 2.30pm. Moorookyle Park Handicap – 1600m.

No3 SUMMER GLEN  At her peak following a string of solid performances and gets her chance to break through here. Raced in inferior going when second Sundell  with 60kg 1400m Wangaratta 3Yr Fillies BM64 June 22 then pocketed by winner with 56.5kg when fast-finishing 1.75-length third Spanish Reef 1600m Flemington Rivettes Final July 8. Jordan Grobb’s 3kg claim brings her in nicely at the weights.

No10 OCEAN MAGIC Had to cart the field after the tearaway leader when dogged 2.45-length fourth Miss Magda 1400m Lakeside track here similar grade July 12. Fitter for two runs since winning 1300m Geelong Maiden May 9 and should handle the rise in trip.

SCRATCHED No5 BELLARIA Got well out of her ground early when 4.8-length eighth Miss Magda with 58.5kg 1400m Lakeside track here last Wednesday. On the way up and extra distance is in her favour.

No1 RIVER GODDESS Meets Summer Glen on same terms for one length when sixth Spanish Reef 1600m Rivette Series Final Flemington July 8. Two wins and a second from previous three starts suggest she will be in the finish again.

R5 – 3.00pm. Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap – 1600m.

No11 BACK TO THE BOWLER (BEST ROUGHIE) Kept coming all the way up the straight when game 1.9-length fifth Sacred Theme 1600m Lakeside BM64 with 58.5kg this venue July 5. Previous form is a bit patchy but he gets in nicely with Ben Thompson’s 1.5kg claim and the distance is ideal.

No10 MULINELLO  Improved by three runs this campaign and should be at peak for this. Favourite when 4.25-length third with 59.5kg Quartermaster 2100m Gosford BM65 May 25 then battled back strongly for 2.5-length third Sir Van Dyke 2000m Mornington with 59kg BM64 June 12. From a strong stable and must be respected with 3kg drop here.

SCRATCHED No8 MOMENTARY Circled the field to beat Crafty Devil 1600m Pakenham Synthetic BM64 June 25 then held up for a run when closing 1.6-length third Archery Peak 2025m Cranbourne BM70 Soft6 with 58kg July 6. Will be running on.

SCRATCHED No12 SAVATONE  Close-up at two runs this campaign and crying out for more ground. Worked home nicely for 1.55-length fifth Dazzy’s Day 1200m Ballarat BM64 with 58.5kg Soft6 June 15 then doing best work at the finish again when 3.85-length fourth Pakaya Prince 1400m Lakeside track here BM70 Soft6 July 5 with 56kg. Has appeal.

R6 – 3.30pm. Handicap – 1000m.

No5 KALASHANI LAD Produced a devastating final 200m to beat Kakanui over this trip second-up June 14. Loves this track and distance and he will be pelting home again at the finish with 1kg less than last start.

No4 ORUJO  Consistent type who missed the jump by three-lengths when 1.7-length third Cashed 1050m Morphettville BM90 with 54.5kg Good4 June 24 then shared lead out wide and fought back tenaciously for photo second Gibbon over this trip with 60kg BM78 June 28. Meets Gibbon 2kg better here and could turn the tables.

No1 GUN CASE Classy customer who drops in grade on solid 2.1-length seventh Ability with 54kg 1100m Flemington June 24. Has won twice over this track and distance and will make his presence felt in this easier grade.

No8 GIBBON  Has stormed home to win last two starts 1000m Pakenham with 57.5kg BM70 Heavy9 May 31 and in pipping Orujo BM78 this trip June 28 with 55.5kg. Racing in great form and bound to be finishing strongly again.

R7 – 4.00pm. Chef’s Hat Handicap – 2400m.

No8 KELLSTORM Imported stayer at his peak following four excellent runs this campaign and has things made-to-order here. Worked home gamely for 1.45-length third with 57kg 2100m BM78 Lakeside track here June 7 then doing best work late when 2.7-length fifth Azurite, Demons Run over this trip Good4 with 57kg June 28. Drops 3kg and Craig Williams goes on.

No4 DEMONS RUN Gets in tremendously well with Raquel Clark’s 3kg and will take catching with 51.5kg. Just failed to catch Sayed 2100m Lakeside BM78 Soft5 June 7 then set a fast tempo but nabbed on the line by Azurite with 54kg over this trip Good4 Jun2 28. Meets Azurite 2.5kg better and Kellstorm 0.5kg worse here.

SCRATCHED No3 AZURITE  Tough stayer who followed a dogged 2.8-length fifth Sayed 2100m BM78 Lakeside Soft5 June 7 with gritty last-stride win over Demons Run with 55.5kg over this trip Good4 June 28. Right at his peak now and capable of going on with the good work here despite weight reversal.

No5 HOT RUBY Has finished close-up in fourth place at three runs since beating Savannah Moon 2000m Flemington Mares BM84 May 6. Battled on for 1.85-length fourth Pacodali 2000m Flemington Country cup Final Good4 with 54kg July 8. Distance is main query but has to be respected.

KELLSTORMSandown AUS 07:00 - Winner

R8 – 4.30pm. Le Pine Funerals Handicap – 1400m.

No5 SMOKIN’ BELLA (NEXT BEST BET) Most impressive winning at her two runs this campaign and can only be further improved. Beat Palma Merenti with 57.5kg Ballarat  BM64 Good4 May 24 then back to mares’ grade when she swamped Great Panache and Giddyup with 58.5kg Bendigo BM70 Soft5 June 21. Freshened up for this and drops 2kg for winning. Hard to beat again.

No8 FOUR SISTERS Never got clear when 0.9-length seventh She Brings Hope with 57.5kg 1400m Lakeside Mares BM70 July 5. Only needs luck to figure in the finish.

No9 LITTLE INDIAN Drops 6kg on nose second Divine Chills Mares BM70 Soft6 1200m Lakeside July 5. Will be rocketing home again.

SCRATCHED No2 NIMINYPIMINY Rates highly on third Schism 1400m Leilani Final Flemington July 8. Nicely placed in this grade with 55.5kg for Jack Martin’s 3kg claim.
