Randwick (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Randwick. Today’s best bet is in race 6
Randwick for our Saturday meeting in New South Wales meeting, there is some rain around this week and it may well push the track into the heavy range, the rail is out 10m and who knows how it will play with the way the track has been playing lately.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 3,5 - 2,4,6 - 8 - 6,15
Wide Play: 1,3,4,5 - 2,4,6 - 1,6,7,8 - 3,4,6,11,15
BEST BET: R6 – 5. LIAPARI
Next Best Bet: R1 – 1. DRACARYS
Best Roughie: R5 – 8. SUPER STAR BOB
R2 –12.10pm. TAB Highway Handicap - 1400m.
No9 ON THE FIDDLE won well second-up from a spell and ran right through the line there. He was second-up off a break and that he came through that run quite well, he should be fully fit and down on the limit weight for Collett he looks hard to beat.
No4 SUNCRAZE oh Suncraze, what do we say about you. You’re going to be favourite again and punters will get sucked into you. But that he has drawn barrier 10 he will be able to get outside them and run on. But until he gets to a mile and shows me that he can win, he is oh-so tough to trust.
SCRATCHED No5 CARE TO THINK dropped back in distance last start and savaged the line at Grafton over the 1200m. Now that he steps up to the 1400m he is going to be much well suited and the wet track shouldn’t be an issue at all give his breeding. Avdulla gets a great run from gate 4.
No1 NIC’S VENDETTA fell in last start with Suncraze chasing him. I can’t see him winning two in a row, let alone getting up to 1400m on a heavy track.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 ON THE FIDDLE
R4 – 1.20pm. Sydney Spring Carnival Now On Sale Sprint - 1000m.
No3 STAR CROSSED has been doing a brilliant job this time in winning both starts running his rivals ragged. There is some pace in this race and he has the ability to sit off the fast pace here and be able to finish over the top given his race fitness and wet track ability.
No5 SUPER TOO will lead here given the booking of Deanne and the way she has trialled coming in which was nothing short of brilliant. She is a super-fast horse and has a brilliant first-up record. My concern for her is that last 50m fresh on a wet track as she only knows one way.
No9 CUDABEEN has won both starts coming into this race and has shown a new zest for like since joining the Snowden stable. She shouldn’t have an issue with the wet track at all and staying at 1100m is perfect for her.
No2 LION COUCHANT has been in great form this time in and was close up last start in a good race. He has a brilliant wet track record and Angland stays aboard here. If he can come across from gate 9 and slots in behind the leaders, he is going to be in the finish.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 LION COUCHANT
R5 – 1.55pm. Schweppes Handicap - 1200m.
No8 SUPER STAR BOB (BEST ROUGHIE) should handle the wet going with no issues here being by Mossman out of an Arena mare. He has had no trial coming into this but his record is faultless and I would assume he has had a few Tuesday jump-outs at Canberra in preparation for this.
No2 SPENDING TO WIN ran really well first-up and should be much fitter for that run now. The race was set up for someone to swoop him and he got run down late. From gate 4 Bowman is going to get the perfect run and will be able to pounce when needed.
No7 PARLAY VOUS comes out of the same race last start as Spending To Win and ran quite well. He drops 2.5kgs for that run and should be much fitter that he is second-up from a spell. From gate 3 he gets a good run for Brown and the wet track shouldn’t be an issue.
No5 ARGENT D’OR has been good in the two runs back this time in and gets a chance to breakthrough. From gate 10 Avdulla will have to go back to last and come at them with one perfectly timed run.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 SUPER STAR BOB
R6 –2.35pm. ATC Heritage Volunteers Handicap - 1800m.
SCRATCHED No5 LIAPARI (BEST BET) stretches out to the 1800m here after a strong win last start at Warwick Farm. He has failed to run out distances in the past. But I think now that he is deep into his preparation he is looking for it. Wet tracks aren’t an issue for him whatsoever and he drops the 2kgs from the last start win and is the one to beat.
No3 MAN OF HIS WORD missed in a tight finish last week and backs up quickly here. The 1800m is more suitable and he has his chance.
No4 JACQUINOT BAY hasn’t been seen in Sydney in a long while, but he has a solid record, enjoys wet tracks and is a winner at Randwick in the past.
No1 SOUND PROPOSITION got through the going well when winning last start, there has been a month between runs here, which is my concern.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 JACQUINOT BAY
R7 – 3.15pm. July Sprint - 1100m.
No6 HIGHLY GEARED should get all on pace favours here and gets a good claim for King down to 51.5kgs. She is a bonny mare who always goes around at a big price and this looks to be the same once again. Her wet track record is solid enough and if she is left alone in front she will be hard to beat.
No4 RELDAS comes out of some solid Melbourne form and does strike a wet track here which he hasn’t performed well on in the past even though he has had some excuses. From barrier two he gets a good run on the map and will get that suck run he needs to explode late.
No2 FELINES has trialled well coming into the fresh race here. She has a brilliant fresh record although her wet track form isn’t the best, she was only five-lengths off them in the Galaxy on a heavy 10 in monsoonal weather. She looks well set up for a good run fresh here and goes well for Bowman.
No1 THAT’S A GOOD IDEA has trialled in good order coming into a fresh run. He will jump, run and give sight however I think his winning days are past him, but he is a must for exotics.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 HIGHLY GEARED
R8 –3.55pm. Winx Is Coming Handicap - 1200m.
No8 KINGS OF LEON comes out of good races at his first two runs this time in and finished right over the top of them at Warwick Farm. He scratched from an earlier race to run in this and I love the placement here as he is really well weighted against a field such as this and is the one to beat.
SCRATCHED No1 LORD VON COSTA trialled well at Wagga for what you could see on the footage. The form around Abilty should be able to stack up well here. He is a much better horse than this form card reads and if he is able to find his best here he would be in the finish.
No6 BOLERO KING gets a really good jockey change here and is in great form this time in. Now that he is third-up from a spell and gets McEvoy on board and from gate 6 he should be able to cruise across from the gate and give them something to chase here.
No7 TORPENHOW won that race last start at Canterbury and has found that spark that he looked to have had early on in his career, he does look to have above average ability and he could well win again here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 LORD VON COSTA
R9 – 4.35pm. #THERACES Handicap - 1500m.
No15 STEYNE has come back in brilliant form this time in with good wins at both starts. He drops in weight here and should appreciate the wide open spaces of Randwick much more than Canterbury. He handles all going and is hard to beat here.
No6 PELETHRONIUS has been brilliant this time in winning all three starts, he has come back in his best form and looks like he is ready to take that next step the ground won’t be an issue and if he holds his form he is hard to beat.
No3 INVINCIBLE KNIGHT comes out of a really good race last start and is in really good form this time in. Shinn jumps on board here and has won on him in the past. The wet track shouldn’t be an issue and he has his chance again.
No11 BRAZEN wasn’t too bad fresh and comes into this race with a really good second-up record. He drops well in weight and up to the 1500m is much more suitable and the wet track isn’t going to be an issue.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 BRAZEN
R1 – 11.35am. ATC Member For A Day Handicap - 1200m.
No1 DRACARYS (NEXT BEST BET) is the best horse in this race by a long way and that was proven in his first preparation when winning on debut in a good race and then was only two lengths off them in the Skyline where he was in the wrong part of the track. The trials leading in this time in have been good and if he is ready he could well blow them away.
No2 ASSIMILATE good winner on debut and has fitness on his side which gives him his best chance here.
No4 COLOSIMO has the first start for Waller here after being a good early season 2yo in Brisbane. Bowman jumps on here and he needs to be respected.
No6 GRESHAM was behind Assimilate on debut and although I can’t see the tables being turned he can get into the placings.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 COLOSIMO
