Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 6.

Tue, 25 Jul, 3:16 AM

Ipswich has yet another Wednesday meeting which should have been at Eagle Farm. As is the case with all south-east Queensland tracks it is starting to show signs of wear and tear but is holding up fairly well. As usual most horses will get their chances provided there is a genuine early pace which is usually the case here.

QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)

Skinny Play: 6,11/3/2,5/1,3

Wide Play:  6,11,12,13/3,4,6,9/2,3,5,7/1,2,3,8

Next Best Bet: R3 – 2. PATRONIZING

Best Roughie: R4 – 9. SOFT TOP

R1 - 12.15pm. Channel 7 Maiden - 1000m.

SCRATCHED No3 BERAHT Not far away in four starts last campaign including a good third in a hot field at an Eagle Farm Saturday meeting first-up. Trialled nicely and with a bit of luck from tricky barrier will win.

No7 SHESEES EVERYTHING Having her first start against older horses but on her recent Doomben trial win will give them something to worry about.

No6 FREEZE ‘N’ TEASE Two runs from a spell have produced minor placings in similar fields. She is another who will need a touch of luck from the barrier but has sound claims.

No4 BRAINS At only start was beaten out of sight in a two year old maiden. Has had a break and two trials since coming back have been solid.

R2 - 12.50pm. Schweppes Maiden - 1350m.

No5 MORESKA SWORD Was huge odds but turned in the run of the race when slow to go and rattled home for fourth in a Doomben maiden at first start. Much better for the experience.

No9 LUCKY GO LUCKY Form is only fair but no luck last time and we had him in our black book from the trials earlier this year. Respect with a few runs under his belt.

SCRATCHED No4 GALTERO Only start was very good when third in a Doomben maiden two weeks ago. He trialled well previously.

SCRATCHED No3 SWEET RED WINE Has some ability but can put in the occasional shocker of things don't go her way. This distance and fact she is second-up give her a chance at odds.

R3 - 1.25pm. CITY OF IPSWICH Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 4 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 PATRONIZING (NEXT BEST BET) Strong win two starts back in a similar race to this and then had no luck when fifth at Doomben last start. There is a lot of early pace here and should be able to sit just off it and sprint home.

No4 JOMAR'S ELELMENT loves this track and led all the way to win at Doomben last start. Goes best when able to lead by himself and that is a bit of a worry here. Still rates highly.

No5 SCOUTABOUT Resuming here but had solid form last time and trialled nicely at the Gold Coast recently. Has been placed two of three starts this track.

No1 VIENNA ROYALE Has been racing most consistently in these type of races. Paying for it at the weights but still rates highly here.

R4 - 2.05pm. RAY WHITE IPSWICH Fillies and Mares Class 4 Handicap - 1200m.

No9 SOFT TOP (BEST ROUGHIE) Her recent form has been very good with a Gold Coast win and a Doomben second past two starts. She won her only start this track. Will be good odds because several of the runners here are from big betting stables and will be fancied.

No2 QUEENOFTHEPIXIES Did the right thing by us at good odds first-up for a win at Doomben. Usually goes better second-up but has got no favours at the weights here.

No1 MAGIC I AM Hard to line up here because she was terrible in harder races last time in training but has shown plenty of ability previously. She has had two trials which have been solid without being great for comeback here.

SCRATCHED No5 SAYS ME Never far from the place money but doesn't win many races. Good second at Doomben last start and just needs to overcome tricky barrier.

R5 - 2.40pm. SIRROMET QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate - 1200m.

No6 MR DUMONT Trialled very well before first-up second behind a very smart horse at Doomben. Fitter now and well-drawn. Looks very hard to beat.

No11 CLASSAY Resuming here and was a handy second in a trial at Doomben when not asked to do much. Two race starts to date have been a good guide for this.

No13 MINK STAR She was very ordinary first-up after getting caught deep. Had trialled well previously and give one more chance at big odds here.

No12 HEART OF AUSTRALIA What can we say, 12 starts for ten minor placings the latest a third at Doomben last start. She will win one day but good luck finding that day.

R6 – 3.15pm. SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1500m.

No3 BETTABET RED (BEST BET) Strong win this track three runs back in a Saturday metropolitan race. Two runs since have been okay in far stronger races. Back in the right grade here and has a top jockey and good barrier draw from what is a very tricky start.

No4 BIANTIC Strong winner at the Gold Coast two runs back and then unlucky when fifth in a far harder race at the Sunshine Coast last start. Just needs some early pace to be on here.

No9 BLOOMING TYCOON Winner here back in May and three runs since have all been handy without placings. Gets in here with a light weight.

No6 NAPAY SHINI Winner this track back in April. Had a trial and then okay first-up but always goes much better second-up.

R7 - 3.50pm. THE QLD TIMES Class 3 Handicap - 1000m.

No5 EXCEED BATTLE Sat outside the leader in a break neck speed battle last start in a much better race than this. Previous form included a Sunshine Coast win. Barrier no help here but this start is one from where they can cross if they are speedy.

SCRATCHED No2 EXCALIBRATOR On his day is pretty smart and past two failures have been on heavy tracks. Back on better going here and should be among the main chances.

No3 SNIPETRON Won two races with brilliant pace before recent form slump which has been in unsuitable races and on wet tracks. Gets conditions to suit better here and can improve.

No7 LOVE A ROSE Can be hard to catch but on her day would win this. First-up was only fair at Doomben but is a second-up winner.

R8 - 4.25pm. XXXX SUMMER Class 2 Handicap - 1350m.

No1 FABVIER Has been racing well including last-start Gold Coast win. Scratched Saturday because of a bad barrier and this looks a nice race for her.

No3 SNOW FIELDS At second run back from a spell won this track in strong fashion. Stable has always thought she would make an Oaks filly next season but still fresh enough to win this.

No8 I AM THE WARRIOR A professional placegetter who runs fourth if he can't get into the minor money. If he got things run to suit here, plenty of early pace, he might actually win one.

No2 SAYS ME Never runs a bad race but rarely wins. Second again at Doomben last start when didn't have a lot of luck. Always an each-way hope.

FABVIERIpswich 07:25 - Winner
