Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 2.

Fri, 28 Jul, 1:10 AM

Doomben continues to carry a huge workload with the closure of Eagle Farm but it has continued to stand up well. Last week horses could come from anywhere and win. The major factor is a fast early pace and it is usually the case at Doomben. The track should be good.

QUADDIES (races 7-8-9-10)

Skinny Play: 1,2,5/1,7/5,8/10,14

Wide Play:  1,2,5,7,12/1,4,7,13/2,5,8,15/1,7,10,14

Next Best Bet: R9 – 5. IMPREGNABLE

Best Roughie: R8 – 7. PUNTA NORTE

R1 - 11.10pm. MEKKA RACEDAY Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1350m.

No4 REALLY REILLY Good fourth first-up in a race which didn't suit. Has a good barrier, a good jockey, and a good strike rate this track and distance.

No7 DEITCH Placed past two starts in similar races at the Sunshine Coast to this and ready to win now.

No10 GREAT MOGHUL Has won two of past three starts in easier company but looks suited in this.

No13 DRIVING WHEELS Another who has been racing well in similar races to this and finished hard for fourth at the Sunshine Coast last start. Each-way in this.

R2 - 11.47am. COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap - 1050m.

No5 CABEIRIAN (BEST BET) He was a very heavily backed favourite at only start late last year and ran fourth. Was immediately sent to be gelded and has won a trial in preparation for this. Is reportedly very smart and well drawn here.

No10 FELINO BEL Handy two year old who won well at Grafton at first start and then no luck when third at Doomben back in February. Has had a trial and should go well here.

No6 DARKTOWN STRUTTER Was engaged in a speed battle in the lead when dropped out in a similar race to this. Won her two previous starts like a very good horse and just has to overcome the bad barrier here.

No2 SNITZ Showed a lot of promise last campaign but has a bad barrier here. Has won a trial in nice fashion recently to prepare for comeback here.

R3 - 12.22pm. CANADIAN CLUB BenchMark 75 Handicap - 1050m.

No6 WIGGLESWORTH Speedy and forget last start Rockhampton failure when the track was too hard. Go on previous Gold Coast win. Has the right type of form to win this.

No4 LIVE FAST Continues to race well in this type of event. Last start third at the Sunshine Coast when heavily backed. Deserves another chance.

No2 SAIPAN Led and collapsed at the Sunshine Coast over 1200m last time. This distance suits better and has a 3kgs claim to offset the big weight.

No1 MISERY Has raced well in better races than this and is one of the few chances well drawn here. The big weight is the main worry.

R4 - 12.57pm. D.A ERNST OPEN Handicap - 2000m.

No2 MR EPIC He has much better form than most of these in the past 18 months. Has been placed fourth at Caulfield over 1700m and should run the 2000m here at first attempt at the distance.

No1 LOOPHOLE Sydney form is average but on his day he would win a race like this which is very weak. Fitter for recent trial and racing and has won four times at this trip.

No4 MONTEUX Won a restricted class race at the Sunshine Coast very impressively. Has won up to 2400m so distance no worry.

No6 KING VIV Sydney visitor who has fair form in that area. Failed only try this distance but this is a very weak open handicap.

R5 - 1.32pm. NFIA Class 3 Plate - 1600m.

SCRATCHED No14 HEART SKIPT A BEAT She has raced well in much better company than this. Doesn't win often but gets her chance here from a good barrier.

No13 FRENCH TOAST Promising filly who scored a strong win two starts back at Ipswich and then no luck at all when second at the Sunshine Coast last time. Stepping up in class but nicely placed here at the weights.

No8 PINOLINO Has rarely been far away from the money this campaign and strong win last start at this track and distance gives him a big hope here from the inside barrier.

No2 LASCAR Not a bad run second-up when fifth at the Sunshine Coast. Has each-way at claims in a tough race.

R6 - 2.12pm. LIMES HOTEL & ROOFTOP BAR QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1600m.

No4 DENBERN Forget last start failure this track when came from a wide barrier and go on previous good efforts at the Gold Coast. Much better drawn this time and rates highly.

No3 REAL MYSTIQUE Has been racing very well in Toowoomba with wins at past two starts. Stepping up in class but has shown plenty of promise.

No12 REAL CLASSIC Has never lived up to the big early wraps on him. But finished off his race well when midfield this track last start. It indicated this trip will suit.

No9 BERGERAC Has won his past two starts in Toowoomba like a very good horse. Has a big finish and just needs some luck in the straight.

DENBERNDoomben 05:12 - Winner

R7 - 2.52pm. SMIRNOFF PRIDE QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1600m.

No5 RESET ME I'M WILD He has won his only two starts like a good horse. Stepping up to city class but should handle it without any problems.

No7 MEET AND GREET No luck last start when fourth in this class at this track. Should be ready for 1600m now.

No1 EAT MY TRUST Has won three races this campaign and is a most promising horse. The only problem is the wide barrier but too good to leave out of chances.

No12 CLEVER BLAZE She will be big odds here but like the way she hit the line at Grafton. The winner of that race has again scored in Brisbane.

R8 - 3.32pm. SPRING RACING @ BRC OPEN Handicap - 1350m.

No1 OXFORD POET Sydney form of late has been just fair but is a Listed winner in the south and that is good enough to be competitive against this lot.

No7 PUNTA NORTE (BEST ROUGHIE) Probably wants a soft track to do his best but has won four times on good tracks. Nice effort for fourth this track last start at first run back from a freshen up.

No4 INZ ‘N’ OUT Has handy Sydney form of late and has been competitive in better races than this. Placed twice at this distance and not badly weighted here.

No13 COMACINA Had two handy trials before first-up effort when not far away in a Sunshine Coast restricted race. Has won second-up.

R9 - 4.12pm. #BNERACES QTIS Two-Years-Old & Three-Years-Old Plate - 1200m.

SCRATCHED No5 IMPREGNABLE (NEXT BEST BET) Former Victorian who has won his past three starts in the northern rivers. Stepping up in class but does look promising.

No4 PUBLISHING POWER Finished very strongly to win at the Sunshine Coast last start and looks suited this trip.

No15 SAXTON ROCK Two year old who is racing very well against his own age group. This isn't much harder and rates highly.

No2 OINK Ran home well at first run from a freshen up to be third. Still up in the weights but has to be respected here.

R10 - 4.47pm. EVENTS@BRC Benchmark 80 Handicap - 1200m.

SCRACTHED No10 HAVASAY Scored an overdue win last start and has raced well in much better races than this. A chance in a tricky race.

No7 POWERFUL SAGA Just run down on the line by a smart horse last start this track. Each-way claims again.

No14 MAGNUS COR Ridden for pace last start when faded for a third. Much better when ridden off the pace and that should happen here.

No2 MARKSFIELD He will be big odds here but has a nice barrier and a 3kgs claim. Also has a handy place strike rate this track.
