Gold Coast (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 1
The Gold Coast has had 10 days off and there has been little rain so the track should be a perfect racing surface. It is the first metropolitan standard meeting of the season and the fields are fairly strong in quality. As usual all horses should get a chance in the straight despite the rail being out five and six metres.

Best Roughie: R6 – 9. SIDERO STAR
R1 - 12.20pm. Welcome To Aquis Park Fillies and Mares Class 3 - 1400m.
SCRATCHED No1 LYRICIST (BEST BET) On her best form would win this easily. She has had three runs back from a spell and was third in a strong race at Doomben last time. The small field suits and she should win now she is fully fit.
No4 FOXWHISTLE Has solid New South Wales provincial form and two runs this area earlier in the year were good. Has trialled nicely for this.
No5 YES TONIGHT Landed some big bets when stormed home to win a maiden at Doomben last start. This is harder but is on the up.
No3 DUTCH TREAT Has been a while between wins but didn't have a lot of luck last start in a harder race at Doomben. Has won this track and has a rough hope in a small field.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 YES TONIGHT
R2 – 1.00pm. Industry Awards Night 2017 QTIS Three Year Old Fillies Maiden Plate - 1100m.
No2 DANSEZ Has run second at three of past four starts and good effort last time when second to a promising horse at Doomben. Has a top jockey here and good barrier.
No1 CATALINA MISS Has solid form for this and was an excellent second first up at Doomben last time. Had trialled well leading into that race and strong hopes again.
No7 LA VIDA LOCA The wraps on her out of the trials are good except for a small problem getting her to the barriers. Was favourite when she threw the jockey on the way to start two weeks ago. If she gets in the barriers will be hard to beat.
No5 JABROOK Has not run a place in five starts and well beaten first-up. Funny thing a lot of track watchers say he is smart. Just has to reproduce it race day.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 CATALINA MISS
R3 - 1.40pm. Congratulations Helen Maiden Plate - 1800m.
No4 SIDETRIP Has been placed four of his six starts this track, including past two, and is ideally placed here. Just needs a bit of luck from the tricky barrier.
No8 FAMED Has been placed a few times in the northern rivers and didn't have much luck last start when second at Grafton.
No1 KUTTAMURRA AL What can we say, he has broken out heart. Placed six of 20 starts and the last two in maiden company over a middle distance when we tipped him a special. He has been sold and in a new stable. Perhaps that can help him finally win.
No9 KRUPSKAYA From the leading Sydney stable and second at Gosford last time. That gives him a great hope against these walkers.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 FAMED
R4 - 2.18pm. Congratulations Dan Class 2 Hcp - 1200m.
No8 OUR JAMAICA Racing well around the provincial tracks with placings at his past three goes. Still down in the weights and placed in a far stronger race at the Sunshine Coast last time.
No3 POWERFUL FLASH Likes this track and winner here two starts back before striking trouble when here latest. Deserves another chance this distance.
No6 HANOVER SQUARE Has handy New South Wales provincial form but last start at the Gold Coast was poor. Has since trialled okay and ready to do better.
SCRATCHED No2 CASCATA ROSSA Has had two recent races taken off him for a positive swab but has plenty of ability and has won a trial at Deagon recently in great fashion.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 HANOVER SQUARE
R5 - 2.53pm. Congratulations Jag Maiden Plate - 1200m.
No2 DREAMSCOPE Has had two runs since coming from Hong Kong for placings at this track and Grafton. Looks too good for these on those and Hong Kong efforts.
No8 SKYSCRAPER Sent for a spell after very good second at Doomben at his only start. Has gone soundly in two trials in preparation for comeback here.
No1 A LITTLE WICKED Solid effort when third at Doomben at first run in seven months. Will be fitter here.
No13 WOODDITTON Has been placed at all four starts in the northern rivers. It is usually good enough form to win a race like this.
VALUE RUNNER: No13 WOODDITTON
R6 - 3.28pm. Canary Bar Caulfield Cup Class 4 - 1800m.
No3 BINARY Never far away in these races and finished well when third at Doomben over 1600m last start. Has a very good each-way record this track and distance.
No1 THE RUMOUR FILE Another from the Chris Waller stable having his first start this area. Has handy Sydney form and has won this distance. Nice trial at Warwick Farm last month and ready to race well.
No9 SIDERO STAR (BEST ROUGHIE) Has a terrific strike rate this track and distance with two wins and two seconds from five goes. The only trouble is he gets a long way back he will want a strong pace in front. For that reason he will be good odds.
No6 MYSTERIUM Placed past four starts and while he doesn't win often this race should suit because he should be able to roll along in the lead. Always an each-way hope.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 SIDERO STAR
R7 - 4.03pm. Happy Birthday Thoroughbreds Benchmark 75 - 1100m.
No8 PLUCKY GIRL (NEXT BEST BET) Very honest mare who is never far away in these type of races. She has had no luck at all this preparation. Well drawn here and has never finished worse than fourth in her career.
No2 MEET GEORGE JETSON Did a good job when first-up second at the Sunshine Coast. Usually goes better second-up with the only risk being all his wins are at 1000m. But older and wiser now and is learning to settle.
SCRATCHED No5 MR HENNESSY Showed plenty pace last start but faded in a tougher race at Doomben. Has raced well this type of race before and winner this track and distance.
No9 FRENCH JET Resuming here and has won both his races fresh. Not asked to do much in recent trial and should be respected.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 FRENCH JET
R8 - 4.38pm. South Pacific Laundry Colts and Geldings Class 3 Hcp - 1400m.
No4 JEXERLENT Won Ipswich and this track in good style before not far away in a far stronger Saturday metropolitan race at the Sunshine Coast. Looks the one to beat.
No1 OUR BEATNIK Another runner from the Chris Waller stable who has some handy New South Wales and Sydney form. No luck last start when fourth at Newcastle and this is easier.
No3 GREAT MOGHUL Winner two of past three starts at the mid weeks and scratched from Doomben on Saturday for this.
No9 WHYNOTROC Has won this track and no luck when fourth here last time. Well drawn and has nice weight here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 WHYNOTROC
