Racing returns to Sale after a 13-day break.
The rail will be at the True position. It was at the same position last time but on that occasion the fence was not the place to be.
With only light showers forecast the track could be lifted from a Soft 5. But would pay for punters to keep a close eye on the track rating as it is Victoria and the weather is hard to forecast at any time.

No7 SURGING WAVE kept chipping away at his return to the jumps when finishing eighth over 3280m steeple at Murray Bridge on July 16. He is the stablemate to Unabashed and can offer good support as he still has some upside in his jumping career.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SURGING WAVE
No4 MURPHY’S DELIGHT (NEXT BEST BET) makes good appeal here on his strong third in a 3200m maiden hurdle at Bendigo on July 23. He is a product of veteran jumps trainer Eric Musgrove and will have the Musgrove polish here at his second start over the jumps. He had a solid record on the flat over the longer journeys and he looks one of the better bets on the card.
No1 STORMIN NORMAN is an injury-prone stayer, but has had a steady preparation for this.
No2 TREMEC won’t find a much easier race than this and the soft going should suit.
No8 DON’T BE SHY won two starts ago over a distance on the flat. Makes appeal at her jumps debut.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 DON’T BE SHY
No5 FENG CHU (BEST BET) was entered for Sydney’s Group 1 Golden Rose last spring and hails from the leading yard of Team Hayes. He is a well-bred 3yo colt who ran 15th in the Group 1 AJC Sires at Randwick at his last start in Sydney on April 1. This is a massive drop in class and top jockey Mark Zahra will travel to Sale to ride. Expected to win here.

No9 EVIE’S PEARL with top rider Damien Oliver making the trip to ride her must have a good look.
No7 SPIRIT OF AQUADA has been solid at his two efforts so far and is from the leading Sale stable.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 EVIE’S PEARL
No8 THE BALD EAGLE (BEST ROUGHIE) was a $160,000 yearling purchase and hails from a most astute stable. He co-led at a recent Flemington jump-out on July 7. The son of Group 1 winner All American has a heap of time to get fitter since then. Looks to be an each-way chance.
SCRATCHED No3 EVOLUTIONIST was stepped right up in class last start when finishing a fair 10th over 1200m at Caulfield on July 15. He goes back into maiden class here and drawn on the rail should get a soft run. Has plenty of upside placed second at his debut.
No9 YUE FEI is a nicely bred 3yr from the top yard of Team Hayes. Faced much stiffer opposition when finishing last of 10 in the Group 2 Vic Sires (1400m) at Flemington on March 10. That was just his second start and would expect him to go very well.
No10 ANGELIC SPIRIT is a New Zealand bred filly who impressed to claim a half-length win at a trial over 800m at Cranbourne on March 6. Was put away and returns to make her debut here. She jumps from a good gate (4) and keep safe.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 THE BALD EAGLE
No7 CHARLIE GARCON posted a clever win at Cranbourne two starts ago. He fought hard to finish second over 1000m at Sandown on July 19 at his last start. He hails from Sale’s leading stable and can overcome the wide alley in 10.
No9 MAGNETAR brags a perfect record of one start for one win here. That was two starts ago. Latest he ran a fair fourth over 1000m at Ballarat on July 13. Ace jockey Damien Oliver travels to sale to ride him for Team Hayes and watch from gate seven.
SCRATCHED No10 WORLD OF HOPE has been freshened with a 73-day gap between starts. Latest effort was only fair when finishing sixth over 1000m at Bendigo on May 21. That was against her own sex and she was the warm favourite that day. Watch the betting to get best guide.
No2 ORUJO has been as consistent as a Swiss watch without winning. Pay to include here on his latest effort when running third over 1000m at Sandown on July 17. Carries 60kg with the 1.5kg claim of Ethan Brown.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 CHARLIE GARCON
No6 KACHING will have punters looking for the “kaching” sound here first-up. He drops significantly in class on his last start eighth over 1400m at Flemington on March 4. He is a product of the hot stable of Ciaron Maher and would respect fresh.
No11 DANCE FOR ME has been freshened with a 55-day break between starts. She ran a solid fourth over 1600m at Sandown against her own sex last start on June 7. The five-year-old gets Damien Oliver here to ride her today from gate five.

No7 CURVATURE may have needed the outing when finishing fifth over1100m at Bendigo on July 21. That was first-up off a 264-day break and she does have a rock solid second-up record of two starts for two seconds. Drawn six she gets a soft run.
SCRATCHED No3 VENATOR had a hard run out wide before finishing a sound sixth over 1200m here last start on July 20. From gate five he should get a softer run in transit and he did win over 1200m at Ballarat three starts ago.
No6 BONS AWAY has looked good at his two starts this campaign. Latest finished on well to run second over 1300m at Sandown on July 19. He gets top jockey Damian Lane to steer and if he can slot in from gate nine will be a force.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 VENATOR
