Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 2.
It is Groundhog Day with yet another Doomben meeting. The track is starting to show signs of wear and tear brought on by more than 100 meetings in the past 18 months. But it has continued to stand up well with the major factor is a fast early pace and it is usually the case at Doomben. The track will be good with no rain in weeks.

R1 - 11.27am. FURNACES @ AQUIS FARM QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1615m.
No5 FUTURE EVENT Has won only one race but rarely far from the place money. Good fourth here last time at this distance and drawn to get the run of the race now.
No1 DIOMEDES Good winner two starts back and then went a bit hard at first try this distance when fifth last start. Fitter now and should lead this field.
No3 LADY LARK Tough filly backing up from unlucky second at the Sunshine Coast last Sunday. Looks like this distance will suit well.
No2 ARRESTAR Has been up for a while and has been racing in Sydney and Brisbane. But tough and a good third last start at this trip gives him a chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 FUTURE EVENT
R2 - 12.02pm. Tim Bell Memorial Benchmark 80 - 2200m.
No2 LOVING HOME (BEST BET) These races aren't usually ones in which to make a special but Loving Home does look very well placed here. Good second this track last start and down in the weights here which means he meets some of his rivals far better. Fit and has a top staying race jockey.
No6 STANLEY He was very good winning here last start which followed a win at Grafton. Looks a stayer on the up and stays on the minimum weight here.
No1 GET ON THE GRANGE Strong winner this track two starts back and then mighty second in the Grafton Cup last time. Only problem is that he is getting right up in the weights.
No7 LASCAR Failed only attempt this trip but has been running on in shorter races and looks a genuine light weight hope here.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 LASCAR
R3 - 12.37pm. Queensland Breeders Class 6 Handicap - 1615m.
No5 SKILLFUL (NEXT BEST BET) Former Sydney galloper who was strong at the finish winning in midweek company at this track at first run this area. Looks well paced in a race which has dropped away with scratchings.
No1 LORD COCONUTS Has a few problems but good Ipswich winner two starts back and then mid field in a harder open company race last tie. Usually races with his starts well paced.
No2 QUEEN OF WANDS Hadn't had much luck this campaign part from a first up win at the Gold Coast. But turned that around with last start Sunshine Coast win and gets another chance here.
No8 CHLOE'S COMET Former Victorian who has been good this area with last start Ipswich win. Harder here but in form.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 CHLOE'S COMET
R4 - 1.12pm. Stanton Mienert Accountants Fillies and Mares Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1350m.
No2 STAR REFLECTION Racing very well in Sydney with placings there at past four starts. Has won at this distance and has a top jockey. Only problem is that she is getting up in the weights.
No6 SHORELINE Form in the northern rivers and Gold Coast has been very honest. She has a 3kgs claim here which gives her a great chance.
No5 FABVIER Has won her past two starts at the provincials like a promising mare. Can sit on the pace here and can win a Saturday standard race now.
No4 ROSIE POSIE Always about the place in country and provincial racing and she won well last time at the Gold Coast. She is ready to step up to city class now.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 ROSIE POSIE
R5 – 1.47pm. Jockey Celebration Day Open Handicap - 1615m.
No6 SPUR LE JOUER There is no doubt he is a lengths better horse at the Sunshine Coast. But this is so weak and he does have an apprentice's claim that he must be a very good chance.
No5 PINDAN PEARL Tough mare who has not run a bad race in six starts since coming to Queensland but can't seem to win. Has been placed her past two this track and distance. Surely gets a chance to win in this weak affair.
No2 SHEISWHATSHEIS Consistent mare who likes to bowl along in the lead. Probably wants a wet track to do her best but this is very weak and gets her chance to repeat her big win two starts back here.
No4 ALPHA BEAT The Adelaide Guineas winner as a younger horse but has not been racing well in Queensland. Still after a 3kgs claim here has a light weight and as we keep saying this is very weak for an open company race.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 PINDAN PEARL
R6 - 2.22pm. LUCRF Super Supports Jockeys Band 0-70 Handicap - 1615m.
SCRATCHED No2 ENDLESS PUZZLE Has always promised to win a handy race and only has to reproduce his last start Ballina win to be in the finish. Suited after an apprentice's claim.
No7 BROCSON (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been racing in career-best form but will still be good odds here. Last-start win at Ipswich was very strong and does usually race okay this track.
SCRATCHED No11 SUBSOLAR Has never lived up to her early potential but not a bad run last time when came from well back to finish second at Ballina. Each-way claims again.
No10 HIGH DEGREE Far from disgraced in two far tougher races of late. Does appear nicely placed here on two wins at the provincials earlier in this campaign.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 BROCSON
R7 - 3.02pm. UBET Colts, Geldings and Entires Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1350m.
SCRATCHED No5 CARE TO THINK Also accepted in a Highway race in Sydney. Strong win this track last start and looks hard to beat again if he races here.
No2 YABA DABL DOYA Came from a mile back for a very good second this track last start. Has a 3kgs claim here and should be able to race closer and get to the outside to storm home again.
No4 MISHANI SLEUTH Trialled very well and then won a midweek race this track before last start excellent third in a harder race to this at Doomben last week.
No3 PATRONIZING Funny horse who needs a really fast early pace to do his best but should get that here. Easy winner at Ipswich last time gives him another chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 YABA DABL DOYA
R8 - 3.42pm. National Jockeys Trust Class 3 Plate - 1200m.
No7 IGNITE THE LIGHT Has always had plenty of potential but rarely lived up to it. Resumed after solid trial with a runaway win at Ipswich last start. This looks ideal second-up.
No10 MANIAS Looked like a very good horse in the making when easy Doomben midweek inner last start. This isn't much harder.
No2 IMPREGNABLE Won his past three starts at the provincials in good fashion. This is harder bit is showing plenty of promise.
No1 HAVASAY Scored an overdue win at Grafton last start. Has always shown potential in strong races than this but is starting to get up in the weights.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 MANIAS
R9 - 4.22pm. Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Open Handicap - 1200m.
No7 TUMBLER Class mare who has won seven of her nine starts. Can be injury prone but on her day would win this easily. The one to beat despite bad barrier.
No3 IRISH CONSTABULARY Honest old galloper who just keeps running good races. He has a 3kgs claim here which puts him on the minimum and gives him a good chance.
No1 CHARLIE BOY Old timer who was very good at first Queensland start when second this track two starts back. Has raced in very best company and despite the big weight has a hope here.
No5 SONY LEGEND Never has any luck in his races which means he usually finishes just behind the placegetters. One day luck will go his way and he will win one of these type races.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 SONY LEGEND
