A mini elimination final between St Kilda and West Coast.

A crucial clash for both sides with the winner taking a huge step towards the finals and the loser potentially hitting the end of a disappointing season.

The Eagles enter the round clinging to eighth spot on the ladder with St Kilda a win behind and sitting in 11th.

West Coast has been a yoyo side the past two months, alternating wins and loses their past seven matches, while the Saints have failed to recapture the form that saw them destroy premiership fancies Richmond a month ago. They have now dropped three straight.

Arguably the St Kilda’s greatest player Nick Riewoldt announced during the week that this would be his final season in the AFL which will surely give the Saints an added boost.

West Coast has underachieved this season but they have one of the most talented lists in the competition and if they can click at the business end they are capable of going deep into the finals.

The Eagles have had well documented struggles in Victoria but they do have a respectable record at Etihad Stadium, having won two games this season including a gutsy win over the reigning premiers the Western Bulldogs.

The Eagles and Saints clashed in Round 2 at Domain Stadium with the Eagles coming from behind to win by 19 points.

Dual Coleman Medalist Josh Kennedy was instrumental in that game kicking a game high four goals and he has provided the Eagles a much needed spark in the past fortnight with bags of six goals against Collingwood and six again against Brisbane.

Kennedy again looks a good bet to kick the most goals in this fixture and can’t be ruled out of Coleman Medal contention where is his still as much as $3.25 (@ Sportsbet).

Although the Saints have everything to play for here, we are surprised that the Eagles are the betting outsider and they look a good bet to cause the upset, especially if you want to be slightly more conservative and take them at the line.

Josh Kennedy kicked a game high four goals when these sides met last and looks a good bet to kick the most.
