The Sunshine hosts a metropolitan meeting on Wednesday after having a meeting on Sunday. Unlike most other areas in south-east Queensland, the Sunshine Coast has had rain. It chopped up on Sunday and should be on the soft side again. As always it will be best to get to the crown which runs down the centre of the straight.
QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)
Skinny Play: 1,5/1,2/4,5/1
Wide Play: 1,5,7,8/1,2,5,6/1,2,4,5/1,4,5,9
BEST BET: R6 – 1. SNOW FIELDS
Next Best Bet: R8 – 1. DELIGHTFUL FEELING
Best Roughie: R5 – 5. BEAUMARIS
No5 MY GIRL HAYLEY A small field but just about all runners have claims. She trialled well before first-up second at Doomben in a stronger race. Gets her chance here to live up to her early potential and win another race.
No3 EXCEED BATTLE Strong winner on a wet track here three runs back and two efforts since have been solid. Another who gets a chance to win again here.
SCRATCHED No6 PEKING ROAD Resuming here but on best form would be a chance. Did nothing much in a recent trial but usually races well fresh.
No1 THE INFLAMER Good winner two runs back and then just plodded at Doomben last time, but likes wet tracks and has a 3kgs claim here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 THE INFLAMER
No9 WASHINGTON STREET Was well beaten at only start but has been given plenty of time for comeback run here. Reportedly has ability and had an easy trial recently. Respect.
No6 SETOGA First starter who has had two trials and been handy both times. Bred to be a good wet-track horse.
No2 CORAL BAY First starter who is related to some handy horses who handle wet tracks. Has had one trial and was solid in it.
No1 CAPEOS From a leading stable and has had two trials for debut here. Looks to have some ability and well drawn.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 CORAL BAY
No6 STAR ECHO Ran second at Doomben last start in a similar race. It was his first placing in seven starts but this is very weak and is a main player.
No8 STREET COMIC Very well bred and ran on nicely when third at Doomben in a similar race last start. This bigger track should suit and he will be in the finish.
No14 WE'RE ALL EARS Placed in country NSW at past two starts and does show ability as a stayer. This bigger track should suit and looks an each way chance.
No7 STORMY LEO has had 41 goes at breaking his maiden status but bobs up in the place money every now and again. This distance suits and it is a very weak race.
VALUE RUNNER: No14 WE'RE ALL EARS
No1 CORNFORTH Placed all five starts before a spell. Has won a Sunshine Coast trial in handy fashion in lead up to comeback run here. Looks very hard to beat from ideal barrier.
No3 ZOFF ‘N’ OFF Has been placed past three starts in similar races to this and does handle wet tracks. One of the main players again here.
No5 RAHDANE Has been placed five of nine starts in previous campaigns. Resuming here with a solid trial under his belt. Each way again.
SCRATCHED No10 FREEZE ‘N’ TEASE Has been racing well and has fitness edge on many of these. Good effort for third at Ipswich last time but has a tricky barrier here.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 RAHDANE
No1 WALK TO THE BAR Tough old campaigner who likes this track. Has had a stable change and won last start at Goondwindi. As the winner of seven races isn't all that harshly weighted here.
No5 BEAUMARIS (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been getting too far back in his races on small tracks like Ipswich and Doomben. Handles the wet and this bigger track and 1600m should suit.
No8 MISS ARABELLA Lived up to her early potential with strong first-up win at Ipswich. Had trialled well before that and out to an ideal distance now.
No7 LEDOYEN Doesn't win many but never far away in these type of races. Suited on this big track after recent Gatton placings, but doesn't want it too wet.
No1 SNOW FIELDS (BEST BET) Stable has always said she would be a top class four-year-old and she is starting to show it with a strong win and then an unlucky third at past two starts. Has won on a soft track and has a claim here. Looks very well placed.
No2 BALABINA Very strong at the finish last start when winning a good standard race at Doomben. The second horse there has since won. Likes wet tracks and the 1600m should suit now. Looks the best quinella all day with the top weight.
No5 LADY CROMAC Has won on soft going on this track and has been racing consistently. The 1600m should not worry and is a definite each way hope.
No6 PILLARA Resuming here but has had two solid trials. Has a big wrap on her and has been placed in very strong company this track and distance.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 LADY CROMAC
No4 OVERLAP Can be hard to follow but this is the type of race he can win. Likes this track and has raced well here against some good horses. Should be on the pace and has an apprentice's claim, which is an advantage.
No5 RIVER FIRE Honest enough and ran into a very smart horse when second at Toowoomba last start. Can handle wet tracks.
No1 FIVE STUD POKER Can be hard to catch but strong last start winner at Doomben. Has plenty of weight here but looks a main player.
No2 REAL STING Probably wants it a bit further to be at his best but has had a freshen up and a trial. No star on wet tracks but can get through it.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 RIVER FIRE
No1 DELIGHTFUL FEELING (NEXT BEST BET) Won twice in Sydney last year and nothing went right most recent campaign. Has had two trials for comeback run here and looks a class above this lot.
No5 OCEAN CITY Resuming here but has won this track and a good recent trial effort when second at Deagon. Could be in for a very good campaign.
SCRATCHED No9 ASHGROVIAN Funny horse because he doesn't want it too wet and he doesn't want it too hard. But has won four races this track and provided the rating is soft he gets a chance to win again.
No4 NICCONI LEGGERA Hasn't lived up to his early promise but return to some form with a last-start third at Ipswich. Has plenty of pace and gets in well at the weights with an apprentice's claim here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 ASHGROVIAN
