Newcastle (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Newcastle. Today’s best bet is in race 6
Newcastle is the location for Saturday’s provincial racing. We have eight races on the card here. I am a touch concerned about the track as last time we raced here it was quite chopped up with a lot of kickback. With the rail out 10m, though, it should help, and we should be on a good surface.

R1 – 12.19pm. Maiden Plate - 1600m
No6 ALMIGHTY comes through a good race last start where the form has already stacked up quite well. Out to the 1600m suits and he looks hard to beat.
No7 SPEEDWAY closed off well last start behind Ace High, who looks to be a nice horse. 1600m now suits.
No3 SACRED EDGE has been going well enough as of late and again looks a place hope in what is a good race.
No4 SOCIAL ELEMENT was good on debut at Hawkesbury and should improve again up to 1600m at the second start.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 SOCIAL ELEMENT
R2 – 12.54pm. Class 2 Handicap - 1600m
VALUE RUNNER: No5 TOAST
R3 – 1.29pm. Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1300m
No4 OSBORNE BULLS (NEXT BEST) looks to be very well placed here at the second start by Godolphin. He was a big winner at the track on debut in pretty slick time. He is bred to be a very handy horse out of Jerezana, and he looks to be “backdooring” his way into the carnival by getting some confidence-boosting wins.
No2 SASSABY has been trialing well coming into the fresh run, and is a chance here.
No3 BETTER BE GOOD comes out of a very fast-run race last start. He comes down a cog in grade and will run well again.
No1 MAESTRO TOM resumes here and has some solid highway form. Got a shocker of a ride last start, and watch the betting here.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 MAESTRO TOM
R4 – 2.04pm. Maiden Handicap - 1200m
No2 THE AVENGER
No1 SPRINTING TO WIN
VALUE RUNNER: No6 DECROUX
R5 – 2.39pm. Benchmark 66 Handicap - 2900m
No1 SERIOUS HOFFA
No6 RED DREAM
VALUE RUNNER: No6 RED DREAM
R6 – 3.19pm. Maiden Handicap - 900m
No3 METEOR GAL (BEST BET) has been flying at the trials and finds a very winnable race on debut. This type of horse will suit the jockey as it is a simple jump and run and she has drawn out wide, which will suit a leader here. If Panya can get her across with some sort of ease, they won’t catch her.
No2 LATIN BOY looks the closer here. He will sit just behind them and come late. The trial was solid.
No5 COROGLEN is a jump and run horse and will look to do that here. The last 50m is a worry.
No6 D’LAST ZA has been going well enough as of late and looks a knockout.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 COROGLEN
R7 – 3.59pm. Benchmark 66 Handicap - 1300m
No4 SMART AS
No1 SO HARD TO CATCH
No7 DELAGO THUNDER
No3 FANCY NICKERS
VALUE RUNNER: No1 SO HARD TO CATCH
R8 – 4.39pm. Maiden Handicap - 1200m
No4 JOY FOR US (BEST ROUGHIE) was quite good on debut in what looks to be an OK sort of a race, and she has race fitness on her side.
No6 BRIGHT IDEA is supremely bred and comes into this off the back of two nice enough trials.
No8 JAWHARA has improved with each trial coming into the debut run and should run well here.
No3 FADING SHADES has been doing a good job at the trials and is well educated for the debut run.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 JOY FOR US
