This is essentially an elimination game between Melbourne and St Kilda.

The most intriguing game of the round comes up at the MCG on Sunday afternoon between these sides who are equal on points and outside the top eight looking in.

There are lots of similarities between the two clubs who have struggled in recent years but are both heading in the right direction and have the ability to challenge for premierships in years to come.

At various stages this season they have both looked outstanding and are capable of beating any side in the competition. This was evident when Melbourne beat the Adelaide Crows at the Adelaide Oval and St Kilda stunned Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium.

The problem for both sides has been a lack of consistency. The sides met in Round 1 with Melbourne overcoming a slow start to prevail by 30 points.

It was the first time that Melbourne had beat St Kilda since the 2006 Elimination Final with the Saints having won 15 straight games over the Dees.

The Demons midfield ran riot in the Round 1 win with Clayton Oliver (36) Nathan Jones (35), Jordan Lewis (32) and Bernie Vince (30) all racking up big numbers.

Jesse Hogan kicked three goals in the win over St Kilda and looks a focal point for the Demons again and a good bet to kick the most goals.

The midfield is the area of the ground where the Demons will again assert their authority and win the match.

St Kilda comes into this game with a gutsy win again against West Coast last week to keep their season alive but they had lost three games before that and we feel that is more of an indication of how they are travelling.

We suggest backing the Demons to win this game and have something on them at $2 to make the finals at Ubet. After they win this game they should get the four points against Brisbane next week and finish the season with a win against Collingwood in the final round.

Clayton Oliver had a game high 36 disposals when these sides met last and looks a good bet for the most.
