Canterbury is our midweek venue this week and we have seven races on the card, spring is here, a month ago this would have sufficed as a Saturday meeting. Not anymore, the champ Winx is back this week and how good is it! The weather in Sydney has been brilliant. We will be on a good track and the rail is true.
QUADDIES (races 4-5-6-7)
Skinny Play: 7,12 - 1 - 9,13 - 2,6
Wide Play: 5,7,12 - 1,5 - 7,9,13 - 2,5,6,7
BEST BET: R1 – 5. SONGLIKE
Next Best Bet: R5 – 1. LUBITON
Best Roughie: R6 – 5. ROCKAFELLA
No5 SONGLIKE (BEST BET) is said to run here rather than Newcastle on Tuesday and wherever she turns up she is probably going to win. She has bumped into two very nice horses in both runs this time in and looks to be a legit group horse. If she runs, she wins and goes onto better things.
No1 SHOWTIME has a bit of boom about him due to his sale price and connections. He has trialled well.
No3 MY ZEBRINKA has trial ed brilliantly coming into a debut run here and should run well.
No6 READYCATGO gets in with no weight for a debut run, and should run well from a soft gate (2).
VALUE RUNNER: No6 READYCATGO
SCRATCHED No2 VILLA CARLOTTA has been doing a solid enough job at the trials coming into a fresh run, she is now with K Lees and was good enough to beat Alizee on debut.
No1 ALBUMIN was a good winner in fast time fresh, I like how he was given the kill and has race fitness on his side.
No3 GROUNDBREAK has very good form coming in, I assume he has had a jump out in Melbourne before this. He will be savaging the line.
No9 ACQUME was in the Alizee race fresh at Warwick Farm and ran well, she has her chance here.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 GROUNDBREAK
No5 UP’N’ROLLING lets not bring up the last start, should have won simple. The trials coming into a second Australian prep have been quite good.
No6 NOTIO has been going well enough in races like these and should run well yet again.
No2 NO PUSHOVER has been doing a good job in the country winning by big margins. The claim for McDougall helps here.
No8 NAHEMA looks to be next best here and was a touch poor last start, but T Clark gets on now.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 NOTIO
No12 SAVAPINSKI has the least convictions here and looks to be a mare with some promise. She has trialled quite well coming into the fresh run and should be hard to beat.
No7 SEPOY ACHEVA broke the duck well last start and could well go on with it here
No5 VIENNA ROMANCE comes out of a nice enough Saturday race last start and should run well down in grade.
No1 IRITHEA has won the last two in good fashion, but the times have been quite average. The claim for JVO is helpful.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 VIENNA ROMANCE
No1 LUBITON (NEXT BEST BET) looks to be the one here given the form that she has around her, she was close up around Global Glamour and Foxplay at the start of her last prep. She has trialled in good order coming into this. The claim for JVO down to 59.5kgs and she should be giving these a beating if she has any group aspirations this time in.
No5 PARLAY VOUS is the first runner for J O’Shea since his split with Godolphin, the form she has is good.
No7 EASTERN LEGEND resumes here and comes back off a fall, I like how he was given a spell after the fall to get over that and regain his confidence.
No11 KLISSTRA will jump and run with 50kgs on her back and give them something to chase.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 EASTERN LEGEND
No13 BEACON was a good winner on debut at Wyong, this is a big step up in grade, but there was something to like about the win and he could be above average.
No9 INVIENNA had a good blowout first up and should be much more improved for the run. Second-up, down in weight she has her chance.
No7 PRINCESS POSH has been trialing well coming into the fresh run here, we need to remember she started fav in a provincial championship race and she has a good fresh record.
No5 ROCKAFELLA (BEST ROUGHIE) was a good run first-up off a long break and should be much better for that run.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 ROCKAFELLA
No6 TRENCHANT looks set to peak third-up from a spell here, he has ran through the line in both runs and now the step to 1900m is suitable.
No2 WAHNG WAH will sit just off them here and have the last shot at them. She sprinted well over them last start and will do the same here, down in grade.
No5 STREET PURSUIT won well last week, but did have a bit of luck in winning there. Quick back up and to 1900m suits and he will get on pace advantages.
No7 ESTIKHRAAJ up to the 1900m here and back to the scene of the crime with Bowman on board intrigues here. He has a solid record at the track and distance and has his chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 ESTIKHRAAJ
