Doomben (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race. Today’s best bet is in race 1.

Tue, 15 Aug, 2:26 AM

This is the middle leg of three meetings at Doomben in the space of seven days. The rail is out eight metres which means the track should play the same as Saturday where on pace runners were to the fore in most races. However, an unusual word of warning as this meeting can throw up rough results. It is aimed at young racegoers and crowds of 20,000 and more attend. There is a lot of noise with bands, etc. On more than one occasion horses get very stirred up before races so be careful.

QUADDIES (races 5, 6,7,8)

Next Best Bet: R1 – 6. BROCSON

Best Roughie: R4 – 4. GOLDEN SUNSET

R1 - 12.34pm. 'SMIRNOFF OPEN' Class 5 Handicap - 1650m.

No6 BROCSON (NEXT BET BET) Has been most consistent of late and gets in here with a light weight after the apprentice's claim. Got too far back last start but hit the line well for third. This smaller field suits and there should be enough early pace to suit him.

No1 CAUTHEN'S POWER Didn't do much first-up in a far harder race. On best Sydney form would nearly win this and has won twice second-up.

No3 LIBERTY ISLAND Doesn't win many but usually about the place. Can lead here and if left alone in front might be hard to run down.

No4 SUBSOLAR Came from tailed off last to win at the Sunshine Coast last start. It was a good win but won't want to give a start like that on this smaller track.

R2 - 1.08pm. HAMILTON HOTEL Maiden Plate - 1650m.

No10 KRUPSKAYA Coming back from a fifth over 1800m at first start this area. Has shown good enough form in NSW to win this and is well drawn here.

No1 DARING DEEDS Gradually working up to a win and good second last start at the Sunshine Coast. One of the main chances again.

No4 LUCKY GO LUCKY Scratched from Ipswich last week to run here. Recent Gold Coast placing gives him another each-way hope.

No2 GRAND WHISPER Better than recent form would indicate and never on the track last start when well beaten at Ipswich. Badly drawn again but hope with any luck.

R3 - 1.43pm. DISCO ENTERTAINMENT Class 4 Handicap - 1050m.

No1 TARZAN Hasn't raced since winning on a wet track at the Sunshine Coast in March. Has had a solid trial and scratched Saturday to run here. Can be a bit hard to catch but from the inside draw looks very hard to beat.

No4 FRENCH JET He was disappointing first-up at the Gold Coast but usually races well on the fresh side. He can improve sharply here.

No2 FINAL OVER Form back in May was very good for a race like this and usually races very well fresh. Also has drawn very well here.

No8 HOT GOSSIP Resuming here and while poor two runs before a spell does have some good form around this distance. She has won first-up.

R4 - 2.18pm. OH HELLO! Fillies and Mares Class 3 Plate - 1350m.

No8 SNOW FIELDS Had no luck at all in the straight when fifth at the Sunshine Coast last start. She should have run second. This is easier and rates highly here.

No4 GOLDEN SUNSET (BEST ROUGHIE) Had 17 goes before won her maiden but then made it two in a row. This harder but she should be on the pace and has a light weight after a 3kgs apprentice's claim.

No6 PLUCKY GIRL She has been so consistent she deserves a win with her last start producing yet another second at the Gold Coast. She will win one of these races soon.

No3 ANTIGONE Resuming here and ran some good races over slightly longer last campaign. Has been placed fresh so rates respect.

R5 - 2.53pm. RACECOURSE ROAD DENTAL Maiden Handicap - 1350m.

No3 SKYSCRAPER Good second this track back in March and only run since had no luck at the Gold Coast. This suits a lot better and hard to beat.

No5 MONTANA PINES Good second at Ipswich last start behind a horse which has won again since. This distance suits and should be ready to win now.

No10 BIG PUSSY CAT Fought on very well when second at the Sunshine Coast last time. This race suits and looks a strong each-way hope.

No9 THE PINKERTON Having his first start. No official trial but from a stable noted for first-up winners and has the inside barrier here.

R6 - 3.28pm. #MEKKA17 Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Plate - 1350m.

No1 POWERFUL FLASH Tough galloper who has won two of past three starts and unlucky in the other run. Has a claim for an apprentice here and looks hard to toss.

No9 DREAMSCOPE Up sharply in class here after last-start maiden win. But has a good barrier and a top jockey.

No3 JEXERLENT Overall form is very good and struck some trouble when third at the Sunshine Coast last start. Each-way here with a 3kgs claim for an in form apprentice.

No4 MEHMETO In form with wins past two starts and another chance in a very open race. Not well weighted against some of these who have claimed but still rates highly.

R7 - 4.03pm. BUNDABERG RUM QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap - 1050m.

No1 CELLARGIRL Top class filly who was scratched Saturday to run here. She has had a few setbacks of late but on her best form would be far too good for this field. Won a stakes race at her last start in June.

No3 ROYAL MYTH Very honest filly who has won her past two starts in the provincial areas. This far harder but has each-way claims.

No2 HINGUS ROSE Also scratched Saturday to run here. Won a Saturday two year old here back in July and on that run looks one of the main dangers.

No8 LA VIDA LOCA Very talented and has shown form in trials and on the training track. But can play up before the start and is a risk because of that. If she is well behaved can be hard to beat here.

R8 - 4.38pm. COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.

No6 CAPITAL CONNECTION (BEST BET) Brilliant winner at first start and then looked certain to win at the 200m before finishing second to another handy horse this track last start. No one seems exactly sure what happened last time but should be too good for these.

No2 NO ANNAMOSSITY Consistent type who was a good second first up after winning a Deagon trial impressively. Should be fitter now.

No9 REMEMBERING FRANK No star but can bob up and win on occasions as was the case at Sunshine Coast last start. Looks to have an each-way hope here.

No13 ST HILARY She is a winner this track and much better placed here than last start failure at Gatton where many horses didn't handle the track. Big odds here but has a knock out hope.
