The Tigers should farewell two of their favourite sons with a win here.

James Tedesco and club captain Aaron Woods play their last game for Wests Tigers on Sunday night and although the team is resigned to finishing near the bottom of the table, they are playing well enough to get the two points.

Winners of one of their past four games, Wests Tigers have been extremely competitive in the others and went down 22-14 to North Queensland last week after leading for a good portion of the match.

They face a New Zealand Warriors outfit which has once again been one of the big disappointments of the season. They come into this having lost their past eight games but at least they showed some fight last week when going down in Golden Point to Manly.

Ivan Cleary definitely something to work with in 2018.

What the Tigers have shown in recent weeks will give their fans plenty of confidence for next season especially with several of these players getting a full season under their belts.

Sure, the losses of Woods and Tedesco will hurt them but Cleary is a smart operator and with Luke Brooks calling the shots at seven he has an improving playmaker who is capable of making things happen for his side.

Brooks’ absence last week was felt when the Tigers were looking for some more direction in the second half. His return this week makes us even more confident about their chances.

You can always rely on NEW ZEALAND to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Kiwis have done that several times this season and twice against Manly with the latest of those just seven days ago. Up by seven points with five minutes to play, the Warriors then gifted possession back to the visitors after kicking it out on the full.

Momentum swung and Manly didn’t need to be asked twice as they came from behind to win off a Daly Cherry-Evans field goal in Golden Point.

That might have been the last bit of fight the Warriors had in their season.

Their current eight-game losing streak matches the one that they put together to finish off 2016 and in six of these defeats the margin has averaged over 13 points.

WESTS TIGERS have won three straight against the Warriors.

A quick look at the historic stats between these sides suggests this will be a wide open game of footy. An average of 60 points has been scored between the sides in their past five games.

With both sides having little to play for, we expect the footy to get thrown around a fair bit so we are all over the Over 53.5 Points option at Sportsbet which is paying a nice $3.45.

The Tigers are short and they aren’t exactly a team you can back with confidence but we think the emotion of the occasion will get them over the line.

It’s Leichhardt Oval and two of their best players are lining up for the final to play in front of the Tigers faithful in Balmain – it’s the perfect ingredients for a well deserved farewell.

Brooks’ return to the team is a huge plus for the Tigers and with the Warriors winning just once on the road this season, it will take a big effort from them to lift for this one.
