The Penny Edition Stakes is the highlight of this eight-event card at Morphettville.

There are two jumps races in the face off between the Australian riders and the Irish riders.

One race is over steeples and the other over hurdles and they always provide great entertainment.

The false rail will be moved to the 13 metres from the 1200m to the 1600m and will be at 10 metres for the remainder of the course. The track is rated a Soft 5 (Friday) and hopefully it will be upgraded with fine weather forecast.

No2 SEBFIRE will be fighting to give the all powerful Weir camp a quinella. The Weir invasion has booked local jockey Paul Gatt to ride this colt who has yet to finish worse than second at his three starts. Strong showing expected.

No3 ECLAIR SUNSHINE Trained by leading mentor Phillip Stokes. He has won once and been placed second twice at his four starts and is fresh with a 77-day break since his win here in June.

No5 SHARING SECRETS is a maiden galloper but is guaranteed a place in a field of only four runners. He struck a H He struck a bog track when running third over 1050m here on August 19. He was fresh that day and will strip fitter here.

No1 MANNERTONE drops in class here on the Grand National (4500m) at Ballarat on August 20. He failed to finish the course that day after trading for the lead. His previous form over the jumps was rock solid and is worth a thought.

No4 OURS hails from the noted jumping yard of Patrick Payne. He is a New Zealand jumper making his Australian debut and he did win over the fences two starts ago on a bog track. Payne is a master trainer of jumpers and would keep most safe.

No3 KEMTAIN showed plenty of pace to lead until the last jump when he was overhauled but battled on well to run second over 3200m at Ballarat on August 20. He carries the same weight on 65.5kg and is a chance again here.

No11 VINTAGE GROVE won over 1950m here before running a solid third over 2050m here on August 23. He plummets 3kg to 54kg and he gets top jockey Paul Gatt to ride again. Drawn in gate seven he should get a smooth run throughout and looms as a danger.

No10 SPANISH HALO is going to strip much fitter for his solid fifth over 1600m here on August 19. That effort was off a 77-day gap and he won’t be at $101 this time around. He plummets 4kg to 54kg and has Jason Holder to steer.

VALUE RUNNER: No10 SPANISH HALO

R4 – 2.31pm. Irish Hurdle – 3200m.

No3 DANE HUSSLER scored a breakthrough win in a hurdle over 3200m at Ballarat on August 20 He dashed away to a 10-length break on his nearest rival so it looked audacious but they were all maidens. He looks ready for his rise in class here and respect.

No1 TRANSFIXED is racing in stellar form with two consecutive wins over the jumps. Latest he flew away to a 4 ½ len win over 3200m here on August 12. He was the hot $2.80 favourite that day. He jumps a whopping 5.5kg to 69.5kg on that win.

No2 WHO SAYS I’M READY ran a solid eighth in the Grand National (3900m) at Sandown on August 9. He was at $31 that day, but his form had been solid over the jumps with a maiden win five starts ago and three subsequent placings.

No9 SPLIT LIP was not pushed when finishing fourth in a 1000m trial here on August 24. He had won at his prior two starts at this track and he has an excellent first-up record of two starts for a win and a third. Carries no weight on 52.5kg with apprentice’s claim.

No10 ENZO THE BARBER chased the better going when went wide on a bog track before finishing second over 1200m here on August 19. He won over a 1000m here two starts ago and has top rider Joe Bowditch.

No13 MISS JANE is another who will benefit from the multiple scratchings in this race. She has been flying high landing consecutive wins over 1219m and 1250m at Gawler and here on July 30 and August 12. She has no weight on 54kg.

No6 PENNY FOR A POUND (TOP ROUGHIE) gets her opportunity with this race riddled by scratchings of the favoured runners. She resumes here, she ran a good second in a 1000m trial here on August 24. Augurs well to her running a big race first up.

VALUE RUNNER: No11 WEATHER CHANNEL

R7 – 4.31pm. Penny Edition Stakes – 1400m.

No2 HE OR SHE (BEST BET) is all class and looks too good for his rivals here. He goes well fresh with a record of two wins and a second at seven starts and Team Hayes is sure to have him switched on for the launch to his spring campaign. The wide alley doesn’t matter as he gets back anyway and the longer Morphettville straight is ideal. Loves this trip too.

No3 MIO DIO has been on fire with a last-start win in the Group 3 Spring Stakes here.

No5 LORD ASPEN ran a cracking second in the Spring Stakes to Mio Dio and rates again.

No8 RIZIZ ˙his run in the Spring Stakes was okay and he is an outsider. Novelty thought.

No6 VIEIRA scored a hard fought victory over 1200m here on August 12. Is the danger.

No12 JAMAICAN RAIN has heaps of raw talent and would keep a close watch.

No8 SUPREME POLARITY had no luck last start here and give another chance.
