The false rail comes in seven metres from 14m last week.
With a forecast of showers the track condition may deteriorate from a Good 3 (Monday) to a Soft 5 or 6. Punters should watch the track conditions.
This looms as a tough meeting to find a winner with some depth of talent in most of the races. We'd suggest watching betting trends for an indication of the stable’s confidence.

No6 SUPERHARD faces strong opposition here in what is a deep race to kick off this card. Punters face a dichotomy here with so much good form. He was impressive at winning at his debut over 1000m at Pakenham on August 22. Good chance.
No7 BEL SONIC posted a convincing win over 1100m in a maiden at his second start at Geelong on August 15. Top jockey Dwayne Dunn is the new rider and he should get a nice run in transit from barrier four. Danger.
No9 RIEL REWARD meets Written Choice 5kg better on 55kg on finishing third to the former galloper over 1000m here in a maiden on August 23. He looks to have the wood on him on the handicap and with premier apprentice Beau Mertens riding would respect.
No2 INDIAN THUNDER gets his chance here on his handy sixth over 1000m down the straight at Flemington on August 5. Has been kept fresh for this with a 35-day gap and expect him to rally hard here.
VALUE RUNNER: No9 RIEL REWARD
No6 RED CHOUX’S has faced rain affected tracks at two starts and ran admirably. Latest ran a good second over 1200m on a heavy 8 in a maiden at Warrnambool on August 24. Gets top jockey Damian Lane to help.
No16 WEATHER WITH YOU had Damien Oliver to ride. Oliver was also named on Mister Mcilroy but stuck to this galloper. He ran in stakes class at his last start in New Zealand finishing third over 1600m at Ellersllie on April 22. Definitely the danger.
No5 MISTER MCILROY is from the stable of leading Sydney trainer Chris Waller. Experience rider Stephen Baster takes the ride on the gelding who has been honest in this class at Newcastle. Goes in an anti-clockwise direction the first time.
No13 MIGHTY QUINN if he goes anything like the champion pacer I’mthemightyquinn he will be hard to beat. He showed promise at his debut with a second in a 1400m maiden at Pakenham last April. Should run home strongly.
VALUE RUNNER: No13 MIGHTY QUINN
SCRATCHED No11 SALSAMOR faces some stiff opposition but is by leading New Zealand stallion Tavistock and has shown enough form to warrant as competitive here. Won over 1400m at debut at Pakenham before finishing second over 1400m at Flemington in May.

No1 MY PAISANN has finished inside the money at seven of his eight starts. Latest he ran a strong third over 1400m at Caulfield on July 15. He has a 53-day gap between starts, but with Jack Martin’s 3kg claim will carry 61.5kg.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 BY DESIGN

No7 STONE WARRIOR pay to watch the betting on this fellow. He has shown good form when fresh in the past and was given a cosy run when finishing sixth in an 1100m trial at Taralgon on August 21. Yet to miss a place at three starts fresh.
No5 MAI SHINY CHOICE won at Pakenham two starts ago before finishing a sound fifth over 1400m here on August 30. He is on the quick back up here and gets a change of rider with Ryan Maloney to steer.
No2 CHIATORIO won a hat-trick last campaign and should be fitter on his first-up start when running a fair 10th over 1400m here on August 23. He drops a half kilo to 59kg and he always improves with racing.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 CHIATORIO
No5 AMADEUS (NEXT BEST BET) has an excellent record fresh and is the key to this race on his efforts last campaign being runner up to Crystal Dreamer. Astute trainer Mick Kent has employed ace jockey Craig Williams to ride his stallion first-up and he should get favours jumping from gate six. His two wins at eight starts have been while he is fresh and commands strong respect.
No6 MAGNATTI blinkers go on for the first time and will wear a tongue-tie again. Watch.
No1 PETITE’S REWARD resumed with a good third against mares. Fitter here.
No3 DESTINY’S REWARD form on the outer provincials has been top notch. Bears thought here.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 DESTINY’S REWARD
No4 POSITIVELY HIGH has plenty of upside with a win and two placings at three starts. Latest ran on strongly to capture third over 1600m here on August 23. Primed for the mile with a two-week gap between starts.
No6 MUTIN was fresh when finishing a sound fifth over 1400m here on August 16. Michael Walker rides for the red hot Team Hayes here and he has an important gear change with the blinkers coming off and visors going on.
No3 CRYPTO PEER ROCKS posted his second career win at ten starts over 1590m at Wangaratta last start on August 28. He is on the fast back up here but he has a superior draw in gate eight and gets senior rider Dwayne Dunn.
No7 SASSOON (BEST ROUGHIE) had a horror run when trapped wide most of the journey before finishing a solid ninth over 1170m at Echuca on August 21. Has top jockey Patrick Maloney to ride and a good draw in five.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 SASSOON
No6 CARRAIG AONAIR left his rivals in his wake with an outstanding win over 1600m here on August 23. He drops a kilo to 59kg and has a superior draw in gate eight. He is a full-brother to Perth 2200m winner This Cat Rocks.
No3 NACAR is a German import with champion trainer Darren Weir. He won his maiden at Warrnambool two starts ago. Latest he ran a smart third over 1600m to Cannot Be Serios on August 16. He raced like a stayer so the extra distance suits.
No1 CLAIRVAUX with Liam Riordan’s 3kg claim his handicap is reduced to 58.5kg. Charged home to run third over 1800m here last start on August 23. He has had six starts this campaign so he is rock solid for this.
SCRATCHED No5 BIRDS OF TOKYO ploughed through the mud to score a convincing win over 1700m on a bog track at Warrnambool on August 24. She gets another soft track here and with showers forecast may deteriorate.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 BIRDS OF TOKYO
No2 PETITION (BEST BET) with apprentice Ethan Brown’s 3kg claim her handicap is reduced to 58.5kg. She was given a soft trial for this over 950m at Taralgon on August 24. She is launching her spring campaign here and has an excellent record fresh of two starts for a win. She is being aimed at Black Type races so looking to kick off on a high.
No10 LADY SKILLS faced tough opposition last start and worked hard to run well.
No6 MY NIKITA the blinkers come off this mare and she is one of two Weir runners. Respect.
No7 GOLD BLUSH is stablemate to My Nikita and gives the leading stable a strong hand.
VALUE RUNNER: No10 LADY SKILLS
