Doomben (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Doomben. Today’s best bet is in race 1

Fri, 8 Sep, 1:16 AM

Another off carnival Doomben meeting with field sizes starting to fall away as the build up to the new two-year-old season starts. There has been virtually no rain for two months and the track is rock hard. But as always with early pace all horses can win with several coming from last to score last week.

QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)

Skinny Play: 1,2/7,9/6,7/2,12

Wide Play: 1,2,3,6/2,4,7,9/1,6,7,11/2,4,7,12

Next Best Bet: R4 – 5. DREAMS APLENTY

Best Roughie: R6 – 6. LOVING HOME

No1 WHYPEEO (BEST BET) Brilliant three-year-old who ran sensational time when last-start winner at the Gold Coast over 1100m. At previous start had no luck this track when fourth in a far harder race. Looks far too good for these.

No2 HINGUS ROSE Smart filly who would be favourite in most three year old races. Is entered for two races but expected to start here. Has won twice this track and good second at the Gold Cost last time.

No3 KING RAGNAR Has been well backed at both his starts for a second and a win at Caloundra. This harder but looks a quinella hope.

No5 RED HOT MISS Looked to have plenty of ability when won her first start this track. Has been slightly disappointing since but ready to improve here.

R2 - 12.17pm. EILEEN & WILLIAM DUFFUS MEMORIAL Fillies & Mares Benchmark 85 Handicap - 1200m.

No3 OF THE DAY Has been devastating in three wins at past four starts. She can be tricky at the start but provided she jumps cleanly, she should win.

No4 GRETNA Sydney form has been just okay but she has trialled well there in recent times and this is easier than recent races.

No1 STAR OF NIGHT A quality mare who has had a lot of issues with her feet over the years. Two runs since a spell have been solid and has the inside barrier here.

No7 FINAL ZERO She is as honest as they come with good seconds her past two starts. Still down in the weights and should be on the pace here.

R3 - 12.52pm. ZOUKI GROUP Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 85 Handicap- 1200m

No5 EMBRACE THE PAIN Has won his past two starts in Rockhampton and while we usually wouldn't use that as a guide he has been impressive. Leading jockey Jeff Lloyd has taken the ride which is an indication.

No7 MISHANI SLEUTH Never far away and placed three runs since winning this track first up. Always an each-way hope and well weighted against some of these.

No3 EL SASSO Has failed to regain his best Sydney form but has trialled well recently and then fair last time when mid field at Doomben. This is his chance to improve.

No2 PRIMAL FLIGHT Resuming here but drawn the inside barrier and has won twice this track. Also goes very well fresh so respect.

R4 - 1.32pm. ST VINCENT'S CARE SERVICES OPEN Handicap - 1350m.

No5 DREAMS APLENTY (NEXT BEST BET) Raced very well in the winter winning a stakes race before having no luck in two stakes races before a break. Has a nice weight here and should either lead or sit second. Has a good first-up record.

No1 CHARLIE BOY Has not won for a long time but three runs in Brisbane for a new stable have all been good including a last start second this track and distance. The big weight remains a problem.

No2 FRESPANOL Trialled very well and lived up to it with a runaway win this track and distance last start. Always a hope these type of races.

No6 MYSTIC OPAL Trialled solidly for comeback run when had no luck in the straight behind an in form horse and finished second.

R5 - 2.07pm. ASSA SIGNS Benchmark 75 Handicap - 1050m.

No5 GATLINBURG Came from last to win at the Gold Coast two weeks ago. Won't want to get that far back around this track but racing well and this race suits.

No8 PUFF'S GIRL Can put in a good run this class on occasions and better drawn with an apprentice's claim here. Has a chance at odds.

No3 HIGH COST Had been racing well in provincial races before winning this track and distance last start.

No9 STELLARCRAFT Should have won at Ipswich last start when third and got stopped in his tracks in the straight. Has won this track and distance.

R6 - 2.42pm. MOTHER MARY MAGDALAN BURKE OPEN Handicap - 2040m.

No1 MR EPIC Continues to race well this class with two wins and two minor placings past four starts. Has not been slaughtered at the weights here and looks very hard to beat.

No2 MANNDAWI Believe it or not he has been Group One placed in Europe but apart from a third in the Geelong Cup two years ago hasn't done much in Australia. Still, last run in restricted class was good and this is very weak.

No6 LOVING HOME (BEST ROUGHIE) Has struggled to win under big weights since coming north from Sydney. Up in class here but down in weights and that should tell the difference.

No3 OUTRAGED Two runs back from a spell were outstanding efforts in shorter races but then last start was flat at the Gold Coast when well beaten. Quality stayer at his best and should go better here.

R7 - 3.22pm. SISTER MARY AGNES FITZGERALD Class 3 Plate - 1200m.

No7 MY GIRL HAYLEY Back to somewhere near her best with strong Sunshine Coast win last start. This is no harder and rates highly again.

No9 SAYS ME Overdue for a win with seconds in handy company at past three starts. Suited by the Plate conditions and has drawn an ideal barrier.

No2 ACUTUM Consistent at the provincial tracks with wins at Ballina and the Gold Coast past two starts. This isn't all that hard and has each-way claims.

No4 SARAJEVO Just plugged home to be mid field at the Gold Coast last start after being caught deep. On his best form would be a hope here.

R8 - 4.02pm. SISTER NOLA RILEY Class 6 Plate - 1640m.

No7 REAL MYSTIQUE Has been racing very well at the provincial tracks with three wins. Was fifth this track at other recent run but had no luck at all that day.

No1 EL CAMPEADOR Won this track and distance when allowed to lead by himself two runs back and then didn't run the distance out when well beaten at the Gold Coast over 1800m. Give another chance.

No6 SABKHAT Was very well backed last start when got a perfect rails run before in the straight to finish second. Fitter now this distance is ideal.

No11 CORNROW Winner this track three starts back and two runs since have been solid including a Gold Coast third in similar company to his. Another with each-way claims.

R9 - 4.42pm COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY Ratings Band 0 - 70 Handicap - 1350m.

No4 D'HARMONY Well-bred galloper who was struggling last campaign but two runs from a spell have been good. Back in Saturday class now but rates highly on best form.

No7 DEITCH They don't try harder and they don't finish as close so often without winning. Has run 16 minor placings in his career and won three times. Sums him up perfectly.

No2 PUBLISHING POWER Ran home very strongly for second this track behind a horse who has since won in open company. Looks one of the main chances here but needs luck from the barrier.

No8 NO ANNAMOSSITY Has been well backed in harder races a couple of times of late and not been disgraced when minor placed. Fitter now and ready to win.
