Gold Coast (Saturday) Betting Preview & Tips
Betting tips for every race at Gold Coast. Today’s best bet is in race 2
Yet another Saturday provincial standard meeting at the Gold Coast which means a few upsets. But the track is playing well and, yes, there has been no rain. The track is very hard, but so are they all in this area, which means a lot of horses can jar up. In other words step warily about taking silly odds.
QUADDIES (races 5,6,7,8)
Skinny Play: 2,5/5,6/4/3,4
Wide Play: 2,3,5,7/1,5,6,7/1,2,4,5/1,3,4,6
BEST BET: R7 – 4. SUGARPARMA
Next Best Bet: R2 – 6. ROYAL MYTH
Best Roughie: R4 – 2. KWANZA
R1 - 12.33pm. SKY RACING Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap - 1400m.
No2 ROLLING CLOUD We thought she was a special last start and she didn't do much when fifth at Ipswich. This distance suits better and should be hard to beat in an easy race.
No6 CLEARFIELD Recent form just fair but has been placed this track and this distance suits.
No3 FINEST SAILING Placed two of past three starts in similar company to this and looking for 1400m on a smaller track like this where can sprint for a short way.
No1 SOFIE'S GOLD CLASS Has had three trials to prepare for first run here. They have been solid enough efforts and the stable has a history of producing roughie first-up winners.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 FINEST SAILING
R2 - 1.08pm. BATCH MEWING LAWYERS Class 3 Plate - 900m.
No6 ROYAL MYTH (NEXT BEST BET) Promising filly who has run good races against some top horses in her career. Won two on end and then second last time behind a stakes-winning filly. This is a hard race but has a weight advantage and is classy.
No4 DON'T PLAY AROUND Has won two of past three and in the other bolted on his jockey in a much tougher race. Demands respect.
No3 KILLERMAN'S RUN Has had its share of problems but won two in a row before going for a spell including one this track and distance. Has won a trial in good fashion for comeback here.
No5 SNITZEL'S JOY Won two on end then well beaten when had problems last start. Has trialled well since. Talented but has had many injury problems.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 SNITZEL'S JOY
R3 - 1.48pm. Jack's Creek Class 4 Handicap - 1200m.
No2 ALWAYS SACRED On his old form would start odds on here and win by six-lengths. But struggling of late and two runs from a spell just fair. Has trialled well recently and maybe he is ready to win in this easier class.
No4 I LIKE CANDY Didn't have much luck first-up when mid field this track in a harder race. Has won this track and distance and second-up form is very good.
No3 SNAPPER Coming back sharply in distance here. But does like this track and is drawn to get the run of the race.
No1 CRUISE POWER Run off his legs first-up when well beaten at the Sunshine Coast. Fitter and has a hope here.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 I LIKE CANDY
R4 - 2.23pm. Gold Coast Headache Clinic Benchmark 80 Handicap - 1400m.
No5 MALKARA Much better suited here than last start when caught off the track from a horror barrier. Well drawn this time, back in class and won previous three starts.
No2 KWANZA (BEST ROUGHIE) Past two starts in tougher races is just average at best. But go back a few runs and should have finished with smart horse Stella Ombra in a race at the Sunshine Coast. This is easiest race for a while.
No7 TORONTO FLYER Good win at Beaudesert last time but while this harder has a hope.
No4 ONE GOLDEN DAY Smart but no certainty to start here as entered elsewhere. But if she does run will be hard to beat.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 KWANZA
R5 - 2.58pm. TRAVELSIM AUSTRALIA Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden Handicap - 1400m.
No2 RITCHFORD A truly dreadful race and we don't know why it is the first leg of the quaddie. Rotchford has had 18 goes to win a maiden but placed eight times and on form he should nearly break his duck here.
No5 SPUR ME PURPLE Form is just solid but did trial okay before last start when not far away over 1200m and this distance looks a better fit.
No3 ROCKY HALO Well beaten second last time at Beaudesert but tried hard and fitter now.
No7 STAR STRUCKED Has not run a place in six starts and fair effort last time this track gives him some hope this weak race.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 ROCKY HALO
R6 - 3.38pm. Dune Outdoors Luxury Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.
No6 REAL CUTE Has never won at 1200m but appears to be stronger now it has had a stable switch. On ability the best horse in the race but distance the question mark so will be handy odds.
No1 GO THE GANTRY Has won this track and distance and good second last time at Coffs Harbour makes him a player here.
No5 RAINBOW SPIRIT Doesn't win many but never far away these races and always an each-way hope.
No7 AMERICAN HERO Led and battled on when third this track first-up. Has won second-up and has claims.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 GO THE GANTRY
R7 - 4.18pm. Tough Problem Class 1 Handicap - 1400m.
No4 SUGARPARMA (BEST BET) Has had her share of injury problems but has been placed or close up in some very good races here and in Sydney. Trialled very well before having no luck first-up when fourth. Ready to win now.
No1 EVERY SINGLE ONE Has been racing well this track with a win and a second past two starts. Up in weights but still a big hope.
No2 MISTER CALYPSO Has been racing well on the Darling Downs and this isn't much harder than last start win in Toowoomba.
No5 AMARYLISS Has been close up without running a place in similar races of late and with luck will be in the finish.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 EVERY SINGLE ONE
R8 - 4.58pm. Dagger 373 Class 1 Handicap - 1800m.
No4 FUTURE EVENT Fought on strongly when handy second last start and it indicated he was looking for 1800m now.
No1 YEPPOON Strong win last time indicates this track and distance will be ideal.
No3 NED'S ROUND Broke through for an overdue win last start and another suited at the 1800m.
No6 WALK OF SHAME Has been fairly consistent of late and should get a nice run from the barrier here.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 NED'S ROUND
