What a cracking meeting we have in store this Saturday at Rosehill, I have not been more excited for a day in a long while. The Run To The Rose is possibly one of the strongest 3yo races I have ever seen. Reputations go on the line here. Outside of that the Theo Marks clashes Egg Tart with Foxplay. Nine races on the card, Rail true and the track will be good.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 1,2,7 - 4,5,10 - 4 - 2,3,5
Wide Play: 1,2,3,7,8,10 - 4,5,10 - 4,8,9,13 - 2,3,5,6,7,10
BEST BET: R4 – 3. ADDICTIVE NATURE
Next Best Bet: R8 – 4. TANGO RAIN
Best Roughie: R3 – 2. NOT ONLY FLORINA
No2 KARAVALI won well first-up from a spell at Beaumont in a race that she needed to win to come to a race like this with any confidence. She won well and looks to have come back quite well. Bowman jumps on here which only adds to the confidence.
No7 MIDNIGHT DELIGHT may well have been a touch flat second-up after a booming win fresh. She comes back 50m in distance here, but gets the winkers on for the first time and on her home track with McEvoy coming off a quintet last week, you have to respect her.
No5 MARIQUITA had the race run well to suit last start and won well running away from them there. She only goes up 1kg for that win here and with R King staying on, who is riding brilliantly at the minute, she will sit off them again and be hard to beat.
SCRATCHED No8 LUVALUVA takes on the older horses here and steps up in grade at start three. She is talked up as an Oaks filly and getting to the 1500m is going to suit, and you want to see her running through the line here to head that way.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 MIDNIGHT DELIGHT
No4 MOSSMAN GORGE has won brilliantly in both starts this time in, jumping and running his rivals ragged. From gate 2 I expect Ford to adopt the same tactics that he has done in both runs this time in and with a M Dale horse in the highway, you need to respect them.
No7 DON’T GIVE A DAMN comes from a tricky stable to follow and comes back 100m in distance after a very big win on debut. From gate 3 I expect McEvoy just to sit behind them here as I don’t think he will be able to match motors with Mossman George and beat him. D Williams though, tricky.
No1 SUNCRAZE is back to confuse punters again here. He smashed them last start over a mile and has had six weeks and a trial since that win. He is the best horse in the race, but could well get buried on the fence from gate 1.
No3 NORTHERN KNIGHT has won all three starts in impressive fashion and now finds Bowman here at his first crack at Highway grade. You have to respect the form, but looks as if he will need Bowman’s best from gate 10.
VALUE RUNNER: No7 DON’T GIVE A DAMN
No11 IMANUI should be given a kick in the guts from the barrier here and take a more forward spot. The tactics in the last few starts have been average at best. Finding your feet and running on can only do you so much good. The trial between runs was good.
No1 ALWARD is the best horse in the race, but isn’t on top due to many reasons. Back in distance, up in weight, wide gate. He has the upside that these don’t, but he looked as if he wanted more ground last start and you can leave me out of 2.2 available early.
No2 NOT ONLY FLORINA (BEST ROUGHIE) comes to Sydney second-up after a failure first-up. But she goes up in distance here and gets a few gear changes which should well suit her. She was hard in the market fresh so you need to respect the intelligence of the market there.
SCRATCHED No8 ESTIKHRAAJ got the job done well at Canterbury last start but loses Bowman here. He does come from other form which is the way that I am looking at this race and winning form is good form.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 NOT ONLY FLORINA
No3 ADDICTIVE NATURE (BEST BET) is the best horse in this race simple as that. His win in the Ming Dynasty last start was simply awesome, he jumped ran, got taken on and kicked away and held of Assimilate who is low flying. Up to 1500m from gate 5, he can sit just off them here and only needs a touch of luck from the top of the straight and he will put a gap in them. Group 1 colt!
No8 SANCTIONED looks to be a nice horse in the making and found the line well enough fresh.
No7 GOLD STANDARD comes out of that same race last start and looks the likely leader here.
No5 ACE HIGH up to 1500m is going to be much more suited here rather than back to 1300m like he was after the fresh win.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 SANCTIONED
No8 CANNYESCENT brings race fitness to the race here and should put himself bang on speed. He was really good last start behind Hey Doc in the Auries Star and that form is good enough for here. His Sydney record is quite good.
No6 EGG TART resumes here and is going for 7 in a row. Her price in this race is more on hype rather than her 1300m credentials. She won a class 1 fresh over 1300m last prep. But comes to a hot Theo Marks after two very nice trials. I won’t be shocked to see her do a “Winx” but $2.60 is unders.
No4 DIXIE BLOSSOMS has been trialling in awesome fashion coming into the fresh run here. She was scratched a few weeks ago after Quinton wasn’t happy with her blood tests. That she is here and in this race, makes me think she is over everything and if she is good to go, she will run well.
No3 DEPLOY just won first up in a Group 3 at Randwick. He has a great second-up record with two wins and two seconds from four starts. Distance won't be a problem as he's won of 1400m. Watch out for him.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 DIXIE BLOSSOMS
No1 GHISONI resumes from over a year off here and has trialled very well coming into this. We last saw her having no luck whatsoever in a Group race over the Brisbane carnival in 2016. She is full of talent but has had her issues. That she is racing shows me that Godolphin think she has a Group 1 in her this time in.
No7 BONNY O’REILLY just turns up and gets the job done, you would love to own a horse like her. She won brilliantly fresh and this is a big step up for her, but she has shown that she is more than up to this grade.
No2 OMEI SWORD missed the kick fresh and it was race over then and there the way the track was playing that day. She finished off in brilliant fashion and ran quite good time. Forgive that and go off the trials and she is well in this race here.
No3 DAYSEE DOOM will turn up and run her usually brilliant race. She handles everything that is thrown at her and has a brilliant fresh record. From barrier 8 Adkins will have to have a few plans in mind and make his mind up within the first two strides.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 GHISONI
No4 PARIAH gets the best run of the race here from barrier 3 and won in devastating fashion fresh. You have to love the ride he got from Shinn there and should get a much better run of it from 3. He should take a lot of improvement out of that and should go close.
No5 MENARI was equally as brilliant fresh just killing them in the Rosebud. He drops 4.5kgs for that run and should be much more improved for that run. This is just a brilliant race, but the gate is the reason as to why I have Pariah ahead of him. He looks to be a future Group 1 winner too.
No10 KEMENTARI rounds out the trifecta of future Group 1 winners here. His win at Randwick last start was one of the best 2yo wins of the season and he did so in devastating fashion. The two trials coming in have been nothing short of brilliant and no shock to see him blow them away.
No7 CHAUFFEUR looks to be a very good horse too, but can’t get a look in against the top three. This is how good this race is. He was very good fresh.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 PARIAH
No4 TANGO RAIN (NEXT BEST BET) was nothing short of brilliant when winning second-up from a spell. He looks like he has found his form of old again after a so so run fresh. Again he will look to jump and run here. Being a 4yo colt, if he comes out and blows this field away, do not be shocked to see him in some better races later this spring.
No13 ZUMBELINA didn’t go on with it like most thought she would last prep. She has had a good break and has trialled well.
No8 DENPURR found the line well fresh and gets a big jockey change here and will charge late.
No9 MANA has won the last two starts in strong fashion and the trial between runs was good.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 DENPURR
No3 INTERLOCUTER has trialled in brilliant order this time in and looks to have come back a better horse. He won two of three runs in his first Australian prep and gets a brilliant run of it from gate 3. If he was to win this, I expect to see him as a lightweight hope in an Epsom / Toorak being a Colt.
No2 OKLAHOMA GIRL comes out of a QLD Oaks prep and has trialled very well coming into the fresh run here. No shock to see her sprint well fresh and from the gate, Bowman will have to be negative and come at them with one run here.
No5 THE PHAROAH looks the likely leader here and has been in good form this time in, if he was to get an easy enough time of it in front there will be no shock to see him give a big kick on the home turn here.
No6 PEACOCK comes into this second-up from a spell and found the line very well fresh. He is a winner second-up from the spell in the past and gets a good run of it on the map and will be in striking distance turning for home.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 OKLAHOMA GIRL
