Another day at Doomben which is the middle leg of three meetings in a week. As always the early pace of races here are the key factors. Again no rain in sight which means the track will be like a road again. Not much we can do about it but avoid horses we think want soft tracks.

Best Roughie: R5 – 6. THE PINKERTON
No1 LADY LARK Small but tricky field but Lady Lark gets in very well at the weights with the 3kgs claim. Tough filly who sat three deep in a field of five at Ipswich but still won easily.
No4 PINCH PASSION Hasn't run a place at his past four starts and, no kidding, he should have nearly won the lot. Small field means he can't get into too much trouble.
No2 WAS IT WORTH IT Strong win last time at the Sunshine Coast followed a good second this track. Just needs pace on early here.
No3 SURPRISE BULLET Well beaten second behind Lady Lark at Ipswich but getting fitter with racing.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 PINCH PASSION
No2 DARING DEEDS Has run second at his past three starts in similar races to this. Always seems to find one better but should be hard to beat.
SCRATCHED No6 COMPLCIT At second race tart worked home strongly to be third at the Gold Coast. This trip suits very well.
No3 MAKING SHADOWS Has run second at his past two starts and both times had no luck at all. Ready to win.
No1 SOLARCRAFT Very good at only two starts with seconds at the Gold Coast only two starts. He would have been top tip except for the dynamite barrier from this start.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 COMPLICIT
No5 CLASSAY Gets his chance to win here after two seconds in similar company past two starts. Has had little luck recently but good barrier means he should get the run of the race.
No3 SILVERWIN Has trialled very well in Sydney and placed at Wyong at second race start. Looks one of the best chances.
No9 CABEIRIAN Has had a bit of a wrap on him but can over race. Good second behind a horse which has won again since at Lismore last start.
No11 GOLDEN COMMAND Flashed home for third last start at Ipswich in a strong maiden and this is a bit harder but not much harder.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 GOLDEN COMMAND
No4 THE AMATEUR (NEXT BEST BET) He has always showed plenty of ability and strong win first-up at the Sunshine Coast indicates he is back to his best. He has the early speed to overcome the tricky barrier here.
SCRATCHED No1 RHYME NOR RHYTHM Has a heap of potential but has been costly getting beaten as favourite several times. Finally won in Toowoomba last start and might be ready to go on with it now .
No6 OCEAN CITY First-up run was a good third at Ipswich and has very good second up form. Respect here.
No7 REALLY REILLY Has been a gross disappointment his past two starts but does run the occasional good race here and a small field suits.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 OCEAN CITY
No2 STREET COMIC Good Sunshine Coast winner and then forget last start Murwillumbah fourth when didn't appear to handle the track. Better placed here.
No6 THE PINKERTON (BEST ROUGHIE) We tipped him his first two starts when he was well beaten and dropped off last start when he won easily at $51. But he is bred to win a Melbourne Cup and this trip will suit nicely. Should still be good odds.
No1 KUTTAMURRA AL Had two stable changes in recent months but finally hit form with wins past two starts in most impressive fashion. Rates a top chance again.
SCRATCHED No5 STAR ECHO Broke his maiden status with a freak effort at Ipswich last time. It was either a fluke or he is staying star of the future.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 THE PINKERTON
No3 MAGIC LOVE (BEST BET) Strong winner at the Gold Coast two runs back and then had no luck when nose second at the Sunshine Coast last time.
No1 NAVUA MIST Chased home a smart horse when second at the Sunshine Coast last start. The barrier no help but has a class edge on most of these.
No6 NILETTE First-up here but likes this track and has trialled well for a solid comeback. Always an each-way hope these type of races.
No10 NOW YOU SEE Won past two starts in Toowoomba and has a light weight, good barrier and top jockey for city debut.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 NILETTE
No6 STELLARCRAFT Drawing a good barrier is the key to this horse. Held up for a run in the straight when third at Ipswich. Well drawn here and top chance.
No2 CAPTAIN LEO Form at the provincials is very good with two wins and a second past three starts. Has a tricky barrier but rates highly.
SCRATCHED No9 PUNISHING Hard gorse to catch and resuming here. Well beaten in a recent barrier trail but not asked to do much. From a noted first-up stable and has ability.
No11 EL SHADAY Good Ipswich winner three starts back and not disgraced in tougher race than this past two. Each-way player.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 EL SHADAY
No2 HANOVER SQUARE Getting back to near best and was ridden right out to win at the Gold Coast last start. Suited this type of race.
SCRATCHED No8 DIA DE REYES Don't back this horse if you have a bad heart. He has many bad habits including being tardy at the start. But his last start second at the Sunshine Coast was outstanding.
No12 ANTIGONE Two runs from a spell have been ordinary but crying out for this distance and will improve.
No4 MEHMETO Honest galloper who never has much luck. Was fourth in a far harder race in a blanket finish at Doomben last start. One of several very good hopes here.
VALUE RUNNER: No12 ANTIGONE
