Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 5.

Tue, 26 Sep, 12:11 AM

Ipswich is backing up after a rare metropolitan meeting there last Saturday. Yet again virtually no rain and the track lightning fast with winners running near record times on Saturday. It should play the same again with early pace dictating whether all horses have their chances.

QUADDIES (races 5-6,7,8)

Skinny Play:   6/1,13/1,6/2,3

Wide Play: 1,2,3,6/1,2,10,13/1,3,6, 10/2,3,6,8

Next Best Bet: R1 – 1. THE AMATEUR

Best Roughie: R4 – 4. MARK MY WORD

R1 - 1.08pm. CHANNEL 7 Class 4 Handicap - 1666m.

No1 THE AMATEUR (NEXT BEST BET) Scratched from Saturday with a bad barrier but this is far easier and has won his past two starts against better fields. Should beat these easily.

No4 BRONZED VENOM Hasn't had much luck past two starts but still they were just fair runs. Looks the main danger on his old form but just needs to recapture it.

No2 GREAT MOGHUL Has been racing very well in mid weeks and provincial company and rarely far form the money. Each-way here.

No6 MONTRER DAME Good second last start this track and distance. Would have won in a few more bounds and stays down in the weights.

R2 - 1.43pm. CITY OF IPSWICH Fillies and Mares Class 3 Handicap - 1200m.

No4 NOW YOU SEE Won two races in good fashion in Toowoomba and then excellent second in a harder race at Doomben last time. Hard to beat here.

No1 SHEEZALADY Plugs away in her races and best chance is if she can lead by herself which might happen here. Winner this track two starts back.

No6 AGORA Has been struggling in these type races of late but does like this track and fast surface helps.

No3 GOLDEN SUNSET Another who battles away honestly in her races and chance on good last-start third at the Gold Coast in a harder race.

R3 - 2.18pm. SCHWEPPES Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 3 Handicap - 1200m.

No3 SI SI SEQUALO Had the run of the race when won at Kilcoy in an easier race but on his day is more than handy and rates highly in this small field.

No1 IGNITE THE LIGHT Scratched from Saturday to run here and this is easier. Has a heap of pace but can stop quickly as happened last time when fifth at Doomben.

No7 ZAP Has won his past two starts in handy fashion and this is no harder.

No2 CAPTAIN DODGE Resuming here but has had two trials to get ready for this. Honest enough and has raced well fresh on occasions.

R4 - 2.53pm. SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL Maiden Plate- 1666m.

No3 MAKING SHADOWS Placed his past three starts and didn't have a lot of luck when third at Doomben this distance last start.

No1 DARING DEEDS What can we say other than he has run second at his past four starts in this class and distance range. Will win one day.

No4 MARK MY WORD (BEST ROUGHIE) Amazing he is still a maiden but because he gets back in his races always strikes trouble. The day he gets a clear run he will win. Has been placed twice this track.

No6 SPUR ME PURPLE Ran into trouble last start fourth and might go better ridden back in the field here.

R5 - 3.28pm. XXXX SUMMER QTIS Three-Years-Old Benchmark 65 Handicap – 1000m.

No6 COOROI CHASE (BEST BET) Quality horse who was a winner in good company as a two-year-old and missed most of the winter because of the unsuitable track surfaces. Has trialled solidly for come back and should win this.

No3 MISHANI WRANGLER Had good form last campaign and honest first-up fifth this track last start. Will be fitter now.

No2 BERAHT Winner his past two starts at the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Looks as though he might want further than 1000m but still a chance.

No1 WONDER BOOM Honest horse with up to 1100m about as far as he wants to go. Good second here last start at 800m and has fitness on his side.

R6 - 4.03pm. SIRROMET Maiden Handicap - 1200m.

No1 CORNFORTH Has been placed all eight of his starts but just can't get a win. Surely today will be the day in this weak affair otherwise he is banned for life.

No13 SPLITTER has always shown ability and good second last start this track. The barrier is the major worry.

No2 TEN TAUBADA'S First starter from a top stable with a leading rider. Recent trial was okay and this isn't strong.

No10 PRINCELY SUM Trained this track and first-up fifth this track and distance was a handy effort. Can do better now.

R7 - 4.38pm. RAY WHITE IPSWICH Class 2 Handicap - 1350m.

No3 HAROLD VICTOR Has won his past two starts at Beaudesert including one in course record time for 1400m. Has raced solidly this track on occasions and strong hopes again here.

No10 ROCKET ON BOARD Flashed home from well back when second at Kilcoy last start. Good effort because the straight there is only 150m. Chance on that run.

No6 LEFKAS ISLAND Had some strong form last campaign at 1400m and fitter for first-up fourth at the Gold Coast.

No1 NO ANNIMOSSITY Is starting to get costly and was well beaten as a short priced favourite at Doomben last start. That race was much tougher so he has some hopes here.

R8 - 5.13pm. GRANDVIEW STUD Class 1 Handicap - 1666m.

No2 YALLAROI Broke through for overdue win last start a t 1600m at Doomben. It was a good effort and ready to win again.

No3 TOBACCO ROAD Excellent run when second at the Sunshine Coast last start and won that track previous start. Has to be hard to beat this very weak race.

No6 FINEST SAILING No champion but strong win at the Gold Coast last start gives him a hope here.

No8 REDHAZE Toowoomba winner three runs back and next two runs solid enough to be a hope.
