The usual Gold Coast Saturday class meeting with relatively small fields but some depth. There appears to be a couple of good value chances. Again virtually no rain for two months and the track is good to fast.

QUADDIES (races 5,6, 7,8)

Skinny Play: 2/1,2/4,6/1,7

Wide Play: 1,2,4,7/1,2,6,7/3,4,5,6/1,5,7,9

BEST BET: R5 – 2. STAR ADELE

Next Best Bet: R1 – 3. BOOM BOY

Best Roughie: R3 – 4. ERCOLANO

R1 - 12.43pm. CANARY BAR CAULFIELD CUP QTIS 3-Y-O Colts & Geldings Maiden Plate - 900m.

No3 BOOM BOY (NEXT BEST BET) The form out of this race should be strong but Boom Boy trialled well and then ran into a smart horse when second at his only start at the Sunshine Coast.

No1 ALL IMPORTANT Very well bred and has had two trials for first start here which were solid but not flash.

No4 DAZZLING RED Probably wants it longer and placed two of four starts before a spell. But we did like his recent Doomben trial.

No6 ROBIN HOOD First starter who is bred to go fast. It is a big betting stable so watch the market.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 DAZZLING RED

R2 - 1.18pm. AQUIS FARM Maiden Plate - 1800m.

No12 KASTANOS Battled away in a three-year-old contest this distance last start for fifth. Only a fair run but down in class here and will be big odds but getting fitter.

No7 TIARNAN Getting close to a win with good seconds past two starts and this distance is ideal.

No9 D'AMORE D'MERRIER Bred to win a Doncaster but form has been only fair. Still liked her last-start fifth at Doomben and this might be a suitable race.

No3 HEAT SHIELD Better run last start when second at the Sunshine Coast. This distance suits.

VALUE RUNNER: No12 KASTANOS

R3 - 1.53pm. The Beer Shed 7 Oct Ratings Band 0-60 Hcp - 2200m.

No3 EQUISTAR Was probably one run short when fourth this distance at Doomben last time. Ready to win now in this easier race.

No4 ERCOLANO (BEST ROUGHIE) He didn't have much luck when fifth this track at 1800m last time. Getting close to winning a race like this.

No7 CUSHTY PRINCESS Placed past three starts around the 1600m to 1800m mark. No reason why she can't win this longer trip.

No2 ENDLESS DON Tries hard and placed past two starts. If it happened by some outside chance to rain he would be very hard to beat.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 ERCOLANO

R4 - 2.28pm. The Dome Melbourne Cup Maiden Hcp - 1400m.

No6 RED PHANTOM Has had two starts with the latest not bad at the Sunshine Coast and is reported to have some ability. Better now with racing.

No8 VIVID PINK Has been placed in handy NSW provincial class and better run last start when third in a good race at Ballina.

No3 IRON DOME Eye catching run when flashed home for third this track only start. Has a bad barrier again.

No4 KING OF MONACO Has shown form in previous campaigns but recent efforts ordinary. Has been going over the jumps in track work so it might sharpen him up.

VALUE RUNNER: No3 IRON DOME

R5 - 3.08pm. DERBY DAY MOET ICE PARTY Fillies and Mares Class 1 Handicap - 1200m.

No2 STAR ADELE (BEST BET) Trialled well before first-up win at the Sunshine Coast and then no luck in far harder race last time. Perfectly placed here.

No1 SKY CLASSIC Northern rivers form is handy and this looks no harder.

No3 AWAKE THE STARS Yet another well-bred former southern horse who has good provincial form joining the Toby Edmonds stable. He has a very good strike rate first-up with them but this one bred to stay.

No7 FELINO BEL We are getting sick of making excuses for her. Just fair past couple but if she runs up to her early form would win this. Last chance for her.

VALUE RUNNER: No1 SKY CLASSIC

R6 - 3.48pm. DIVINE PROPHET Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 1 Handicap - 1200m.

No7 KIM'S TARZAN Former kiwi galloper who showed plenty of potential to win this track at first Australian start. Very hard to beat again.

No1 EVERY SINGLE ONE Racing very well with a win and two seconds past three starts this track. No reason he can't race well again.

No2 EL SHADAY Good Ipswich win four run back and about the place latest few runs. Each-way here.

No6 ZOU DER ZEE Can bob up at big odds on occasions and his two runs back from a spell indicate he isn't far of it again.

VALUE RUNNER: No2 EL SHADAY

R7 - 4.30pm. HUSSON Class 4 Handicap - 1100m.

No5 NAVUA MIST Newcastle visitor who has been okay in three runs this area. This is her easiest task to date and tricky barrier no worry as she gets back in her races.

No6 BRAT ATTACK Much better run to win here last start and should be able to go on with it.

No4 I LIKE CANDY Two runs from a spell have been fair and does usually run well this track and distance with a few runs under her belt.

No3 LA DOLCE VITA Has some good form in recent campaigns. With a new stable but didn't show much for it first up. Chance if regains old form.

VALUE RUNNER: No4 I LIKE CANDY

R8 - 5.13pm. CANARY BAR 21 OCT Class 5 Handicap - 1300m.

No1 CHARLIE CAT Quality galloper who has a few tricks but hard to beat on first-up win when overcame difficulties.

No5 EXCALIBRATOR Has not been disgraced in harder races and good winner at Ballina last time.

No7 JOBIWOOD Doesn't win many but rarely far away in these type of races. Always a value hope.

No9 DUTCH TREAT Needs things to go his way in races but handy on his day as his last start win at Ipswich showed.

VALUE RUNNER: No7 JOBIWOOD
