5 Best bets to have you singing on Everest & Caulfield Guineas day
Our expert tipsters view on 5 favoured runners on an unheralded Super Saturday of racing action!
Tip 1) Caulfied R6 – Schweppes Thousand Guinea – 1600m - Saturday 3.15pm
No1 SHOALS (Caulfield BEST BET) has plenty to like and with the blinkers going on for the first time here is a bonus. She charged home late to run second to Booker in the Guineas Prelude (1400m) here a fortnight ago. She has a perfect draw in gate four and the extra 200m should suit her to the ground. She is a class Fastnet Rock filly and Mark Zahra is riding very well. She can get the job done here.
Tip 2) Randwick R8 - The TAB Everest – 1200m - Saturday 4.15 pm
No2 VEGA MAGIC has been nothing short of brilliant since coming across from WA with a 3/3 record and winning two Group 1 races in the process. All along D Hayes has said “Everest” with this bloke and he is such a genuine horse Sydney going first time won’t worry. C Williams has a bit to do from the gate, but he is flying.
Tip 3) Randwick R8 - Caulfield Guineas – 1600m - Saturday 4.30pm
No6 ROYAL SYMPHONY has been one of the stars and was clocked as the equal fastest 400m sectional when finishing fourth to Perast in the Guineas Prelude (1400m) here a fortnight ago. Dwayne Dunn again rides and he again jumps from gate nine. That was his first defeat at five starts.
Tip 4) Randwick R9 – Aqualand Craven Plate - 2000m - Saturday 4.55pm
No1 HAPPY CLAPPER (BEST BEST) will just be winning this, he comes out of his Epsom win last start and meets everyone at level weights here. He was utterly dominant in the Epsom winning his career peak there. From gate 1 he gets the perfect run again and will make a mess of them.
Tip 5) Caulfield R10 – Keno Kwikpik Schillaci Stakes – 5.45pm
No2 ROCK MAGIC (Caulfield - NEXT BEST BET) ran an absolute ripper when was never closer than three deep and charged home to momentarily look the winner before being swamped. Finished a good fourth to the outstanding filly She Will Reign in the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley on September 29. Loves this distance and he can break-through for his first Victorian win.
Good luck on the punt!
