Ipswich (Wednesday) Betting Preview & Tips

Betting tips for every race at Ipswich. Today’s best bet is in race 5

Tue, 17 Oct, 12:28 AM

Finally there has been heavy rain in the south east of Queensland which hasn't helped Ipswich which continues to have a heavy workload. The track will be heavy and that usually suits front runners who can get away from the fence in the straight. Luckily only small fields.

Next Best Bet:  R2 – 5. THE OVERDRAFT

Best Roughie: R1 – 4. SPUR ME PURPLE

R1 - 12.38pm. BOOK NOW FOR ITC MELBOURNE CUP LUNCH Maiden Plate - 2180m.

No6 WOOLOOMAN SKY Finished very strongly for second this track and distance last start. Has some wet track form and hard to beat.

No4 SPUR ME PURPLE (BEST ROUGHIE) Much better run when fourth at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m. This distance will suit and it is a very weak maiden.

No2 MAJESTIC SHADOW Never far way these races but has had 20 goes without winning. Has been placed in soft going but has failed in the heavy.

No3 SHADOW EMPIRE Another who has had 20 goes without winning. At least he should be fit to get through the wet track.

R2 - 1.08pm. BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB Class 3 Handicap - 1350m.

No5 THE OVERDRAFT (NEXT BEST BET) Good winner this track last start and should lead this field which will be an advantage. Has won on soft going and indicates the heavy won't worry with a light weight.

No1 LORD MARMADUKE Strong winner this track two starts back and then handy fourth in better race at the Gold Coast. Loves wet tracks.

No2 COUNT CUMANI Loves this track and won here last start in strong fashion. Has failed only go on a wet track.

No3 DANE JESTER Recent form is solid without being outstanding. Has raced well both tries on heavy tracks.

R3 - 1.43pm. COMMON COURTESY PEST CONTROL QTIS 3YO Colts & Geldings Maiden - 1200m.

No1 BOOM BOY Trialled well and then seconds at both starts at the Gold Coast. Has a 3kgs claim here and looks very hard to beat. Bred to handle the wet.

No3 TROMMELSCHLAGEN Very good third last start at Doomben and getting better with racing. Looks the main danger.

No5 THE GROOM Getting better with each run and a handy third in Toowoomba last time. Each-way here.

No2 ARTERIAL Has had three trials and not shown much. But very well bred and should handle the wet.

R4 - 2.18pm. SURFACE ARCHETYPES Maiden Handicap - 1100m.

No8 I'M SASSY Race form is solid without being anything special. But bred to handle the wet and good second in a recent trial.

No7 SWEET CAVIAR Has better form than most of these and had no luck last time when fifth at the Gold Coast. Respect.

No6 TAKES TIME Race form is only fair but we did like his trial win at Doomben recently. Most of his family handle the wet.

No3 CRACKACHARGE Has been placed this track but recent efforts ordinary. Ready to improve.

R5 - 2.53pm. CHEK AIR CONDITIONING Class 5 Handicap - 1200m.

No1 SHADOW LORD (BEST BET) Had good southern form before coming north and has had two trials and two races starts this area. Should be fully fit now and has a good record on heavy tracks.

No7 DON'T DOUBT MARLEY Just behind the placegetters in a much stronger Saturday race at the Sunshine Coast last time. Has some handy wet track form.

No2 ALWAYS SACRED Gold Coast winner two starts back and handy soft that track last start. Has good soft track form.

No4 ONE GOLDEN DAY Has handy form in much better races than this. Wet track form is ordinary but again it was in better races than this.

R6 - 3.33pm. BOB VAN DER MEER PLASTERING Class 2 Handicap- 1690m.

No4 REAL ELUSIVE Good winner two starts back at the Sunshine Coast and then second on a heavy track at Doomben last time. Strong claims again here.

No1 SICARIO Came from an outside barrier to win this track and distance last time. Wet track form is fair.

No2 DINKY DI DORA First run this area only fair but has some handy wet track form in NSW.

No5 ARAZONA Strong Sunshine Coast winner at first start this area and this distance should suit ever better. Bred to handle wet tracks.

R7 - 4.13pm. JENNY RYAN MEMORIAL Benchmark 65 Handicap - 1000m.

No4 STELLARCRAFT Can mix his form bit would win this on his day. Has good wet track form and has been placed seven times this track and distance.

No1 ISIS MAGIC From an in-form stable and too strong at Toowoomba last start for a handy field. Has never been beaten on soft going.

No8 PEKING ROAD Last start Doomben winner on a heavy track. He is probably the best bred wet track horse in Queensland and usually tries hard.

No3 FIRE WITHIN Not a bad run when fifth at Doomben last time. Never won on a wet track but has been placed nine times on rain affected tracks.

R8 - 4.53pm. BROTHERS OLD BOYS Class 2 Handicap - 1200m.

No7 TAY SWIFT Has been racing well since a spell with a win and placing two runs back into this campaign. Wet track form not flash but that was generally in much better races and has two placings in soft going.

No4 LOOSE GOOSE Not far away in a much stronger race at the Sunshine Coast last time. We did like his Doomben trial win recently and he has won in soft going.

No8 ZOU DER ZEE Not far away from winner in three runs back from a spell and does have very good wet track form.

No2 THE AMBASSADORE He is hard to catch but form solid enough in tougher races. Would win at his best but that is just guessing.
