Another Gold Coast meeting but this time on a genuine wet track. As we have pointed out several times, and been proved correct, these days usually produce plenty of upsets so we will look for value.
QUADDIES (races 5-6-7-8)
Skinny Play: 3,13/1,3/1,4.6,9
Wide Play: 1,3,10,13/1,3,5,6/1,4,7,8/2,5,6,9
BEST BET: R2 – 1. SOLARCRAFT
Next Best Bet: R3 – 4. HIGH AFRICAINE
Best Roughie: R5 – 1. LADY EIGHTY EIGHT
No1 SLYDINI Very good wet track horse who wore down the leader to win at Ipswich last time. This distance suits now. Also engaged in Brisbane.
No3 TAP THIS Has been racing in far harder company and not been disgraced. Has some wet track form. Also engaged in Brisbane.
No4 CANONGATE Ran on well for third at Ipswich. Never far away but rarely wins. Does have some wet track form.
No5 GLEN ORD Ran on well to score good Ballina win last start. Has won on a heavy track.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 GLEN ORD
No1 SOLARCRAFT (BEST BET) Ran two very good seconds before unlucky last-start fourth in a far tougher race. This looks ideal and should handle a wet track.
No2 TEN TAUBADA'S Excellent first run when second at Ipswich when never had any peace. This looks to suit and winner of his last start has won again since.
No4 KINGHT'S HONOUR Showed improvement when third at Doomben on a heavy track last time. Chance again here.
No8 WAS AGONA Form nothing flash but we liked his trial win at Deagon last month. Is bred to be a swimmer.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 WAS AGONA
No4 HIGH AFRICAINE (NEXT BEST BET) Promising stayer but has just one sprint and run has to be tied right. It happened last start and she won in Toowoomba. Three wins on soft tracks.
No6 JIMMY HOFFA Very hard to catch but likes 2200m. Wet track form is terrible but a lot of it is at shorter distances. Will be value here.
No1 MCGILL Tough old gelding who bobs up and wins these staying races every now and again. Good win last time and chance again on a wet track.
No7 PRINCE OF BARODA Country galloper who usually tries hard and usually about the place. This harder but has some handy wet track form.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 MCGILL
No8 COSMIC VIEW NSW form was solid and has had two trials to prepare for first start this area. Stable has a great strike rate with southern cast offs.
No10 MANILA MISS First starter but she has won a Gold Coast trial in nice fashion. Respect.
No11 NORTHERN DRAGON First start only fair but trialled solidly since and is bred to swim for Australia.
No6 WICKED EXPRESS Good run in much stronger maiden last time. Has run good races in better company but this may be a shade short.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 NORTHERN DRAGON
No3 GRAZIE MILLE BELLA Caught the eye last start when fifth on a heavy track in a Doomben maiden. A repeat of that run will nearly see her win here.
No1 LADY EIGHTY EIGHT (BEST ROUGHIE) Has been close up in a couple of maidens and fourth at Doomben last time. Will be good odds here because of the weight.
No10 MCCULLOUGH Was big odds but battled away well when third at Beaudesert last start. Bred to handle the wet.
No13 DITZY DARCI Is a bit smarter than form shows and better placed here than last-start mid field effort at the Gold Coast.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 LADY EIGHTY EIGHT
No3 SHAOLIN KUNGFU Is closely related to a Golden Slipper winner but form has been over more ground. Handles the wet and this is about his level after last start Doomben win.
No6 WINDCATCHER Has had a few problems but handy on his day. Can handle wet tracks and fitter now.
No1 AQUA VITE Placed past four runs this track and paying the price at the weights. But still an each-way hope.
No5 SHE GOES POP Resuming here but had strong form earlier this year. Has had an easy trial and this isn't overly hard.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 WINDCATCHER
No7 FELINO BEL Finally lived up to her ability with a last-start Gold Coast win. Ready to go on from here with more wins.
No1 VAULTING AMBITION Has form around some of the best horses in Queensland without winning and paying the price with big weights. First-up here but has trialled and has an apprentice's claim.
No4 SNAPPER ROCKS Resuming but has had a trial. Very good on wet tracks and has won first-up.
No8 RAINBOW LACE Has had a lot of problems but on her day is handy. Wet track from is solid.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 SNAPPER ROCKS
No9 AMELIA JANE Has always shown promise and scored runaway win in Toowoomba first up. She is pretty smart.
No6 BEBADO Winner at only run first campaign and then forget last start last at Ipswich when nothing went right. Much better than that.
No5 LAST ROUND Never runs a bad race at the country tracks and although this is harder he is always an each-way hope.
No2 CAPTAIN PARKER Has run second at past four starts and although getting up in weight is at least consistent.
VALUE RUNNER: No5 LAST ROUND
