Randwick for yet another meeting and we are here off the back of what was an awesome day at the Everest. The rail goes out to the 9m range now which can make it red hot leaders or super wide. Good nine-race card to enjoy. Track good.
QUADDIES (races 6-7-8-9)
Skinny Play: 3,5 - 6,11 - 1 - 1,6,7,11
Wide Play: 1,3,5 - 2,3,6,11 - 1,2,6 - 1,2,6,7,11
BEST BET: R2 – 6. KAONIC
Next Best Bet: R8 – 1. ZENALICIOUS
Best Roughie: R4 – 1. DESTINY’S KISS
No8 GODODDIN has trialled in good style coming into the debut run. Exceed and Excel horses always go quite well in the early 2yo races and Godolphin are yet to produce a good one and going off the trials this one could be it.
No7 FIESTA made up very good ground late on debut in the Gimcrack. The only knock on that race is that they ran very slow time there and the figures out of it were not that strong. But with race experience I am happy to give her a chance.
No9 GORGONS is another Godolphin filly that has been doing good at the trials coming into the debut run here. Being out of Eurayle she is quite well bred and should be an early runner and is a good chance.
No2 CATANZARO is a brilliantly bred colt being out of Doubtfilly and should get better as the trips get longer. That he is at the races this early is a good sign and O’Rourke looks to be a trainer of good ability.
VALUE RUNNER: No2 CATANZARO
No6 KAONIC (BEST BET) looks to be a cut above this lot and won in extremely good order when breaking his maiden at Canterbury. He is in the mold of Kermadec and Comin Through for mine, and could well be on the way to a race like the Carbine if he wins this. If there is no bias he wins.
No1 SAMBRO didn’t get the best of rides by Moreria last start and gets a host of gear changes here.
No8 SKY BOY was a good winner last start when breaking the maiden and has trialled well since.
No10 LUVALUVA comes well back in grade here and should run well.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 SKY BOY
No11 SHE KNOWS just missed when resuming over the 1000m here. She should be much fitter coming into this race second-up and ran super-fast time there for highway level. From gate 10 she will get cover in the run and there is no issue being wide when its one turn.
SCRATCHED No3 KOORINGAL STAR has trialled up quite well coming into the fresh run here and brings quite a good fresh record to this racing having not missed a place. Love the booking of Angland here and she just gets a soft run behind the speed here and should be in the finish.
No1 LARLABROOK won the race last start when beating She Knows. He too should be fitter for that as he was all out late. From the gate he will jump and run them along here and down to 56kgs after the claim can only suit here.
SCRATCHED No8 TIGER BY THE TALE will be flying at them late. She has good city form around her and this could have been a target fresh by Williams. With good speed engaged up front she could well finish over the top of them here. This is the type of horse that suits Collett.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 TIGER BY THE TALE
No1 DESTINY’S KISS (BEST ROUGHIE) drops well back in grade here after a good run last week in the St Ledger, he kept poking up the fence there and wasn’t too far off the winner there. 2400m and Randwick suits well and he has his chance.
No4 ALWARD has been going quite well at winning four of the last five and steps up to the 2400m here and drops 4.5kgs for that run. The distance shouldn’t be an issue at all for him. His grounding has been good enough with four 2000m runs.
No5 SOCIAL ELEMENT will jump and run them along here up to the 2400m for the first time. There is no pressure at all on him here on the speed map and King on a leader when she gets to run her own pace, are very hard to run down.
No3 ADMIRAL JELLO has been in quite good form this time in without winning, he has placed at his last five runs. He should take a good run just in behind the speed here and as long as he doesn’t need to lead the rest of the field up he is well within a chance.
VALUE RUNNER: No1 DESTINY’S KISS
No3 KING DARCI gets a good jockey change and is much better suited up to the 1400m here. Second-up from a spell. From gate two Hippo should jump and run them along here. He has a brilliant record at the 1400m distance with three wins and a placing from four attempts and he looks the one.
No7 PEACOCK was beaten in the last stride last start and looks to have found his form yet again here after a few disappointing runs this time in. That public holiday race should hold up form wise and it was much stronger than your standard midweek race.
SCRATCHED No8 WAYANKA gets gate 1 and Avdulla here and gets a dream run on the map here. The form that he brings to this is nothing short of fantastic and he has had a good trial between runs. Soft run and Avdulla on you have to have him.
SCRATCHED No9 DAGNY never really got into the race last start in a race which wasn’t run to suit. She gets a good jockey change here with Moreria off (yes I am saying that in Sydney) from gate 3 Glyn will have to poke up along the fence, but she is much better suited up to 1400m now.
VALUE RUNNER: No3 KING DARCI
No3 GOODFELLA is the one for me back in distance here. Hard not to love his effort last start when three wide the trip and still found enough to kick away and win there. Back to 1200m shouldn’t be an issue. He did run fourth in the Magic Millions after all.
No5 MALAHAT wasn’t the best when starting fav last start behind Virdine. He has been back to the trials since and has done a very good job there. That Virdine form is going to be very hot and I want to keep on following it.
SCRATCHED No1 SINGLE BULLET has played second fiddle to Virdine at both runs this time in, but has been very good in both runs. Angland can choose to dominate the race if he feels like it, as there isn’t too much speed on paper here. If he does that, they will struggle to get past him.
No8 MUSTAFA I am throwing in here on spec alone. There are a stack of maidens that this horse could kick off in. Yet Roche does so here in a pretty strong Listed race. The trials have been good and I want to watch the market here as that will tell the story.
VALUE RUNNER: No8 MUSTAFA
No6 DIDDUMS won in good style when resuming at Rosehill at that midweek meeting. She jumped and ran them along running blistering figures for the day there. Second-up to 1200m, she is very well suited and is a winner here over the autumn.
No11 WHITE MOSS looks to take the next step in her career here after a blistering win first-up from a spell. She has been carefully bought along through her career with her rating being protected and now she takes on black type for the first time. She is ready for this.
No2 DIXIE BLOSSOMS comes back to 1200m here after a big win last start and this is basically a hit out for the Myer in two weeks at Flemington. Not sure what the intentions are here, but if she can come back in trip and sprint she can wins this.
No3 DAYSEE DOOM same goes for this mare who is off to the Myer as well. I always seem to be on the wrong side of Dixie and Daysee as they always swap wins. I think she may be more adaptable and gets a soft run from barrier 5.
VALUE RUNNER: No11 WHITE MOSS
No1 ZENALICIOUS (NEXT BEST BET) drops well in grade here after an awesome run behind Dixie and Daysee in the Emancipation last start. She only needs to carry the 60kgs here to be a major chance. Her runs previous to that had been very good and hidden. The only knock I have on her, is that she has only placed at Randwick once, but in her favour that was last start and she looks to be low flying.
No6 IMPAVIDO looks ready here after a good run last start behind Interlocuter. From 13 no shock if Collett slides forward and gives them something to chase.
No2 BLACK ON GOLD was a good winner fresh and was scratched out of a tougher race last week for this. From gate 1 he gets a soft run here.
No4 GREAT GLEN was very good first-up when closing off quite well. Staying at the mile and the bigger Randwick track suit here.
VALUE RUNNER: No4 GREAT GLEN
No11 NEW UNIVERSE resumes here and created a big impression in his first Australian preparation with two big wins from three starts. The two trials coming into this have been very soft and he finds Collett first-up, who looks to be in for a big day.
SCRATCHED No7 ZUMBELINA has been good in both starts this time in and finished off quite well last start in a race which wasn’t run to suit. The trial since was quite good and from 13 Angland will have to drag back for cover, as she goes at her best when she can be cuddled and exploded.
No6 UNEQUIVOCAL is the big closer here and gets the speed in this race to suit her. She has produced some big finishes in her career and could get to that magical out wide lane here and finish right over the top of them.
SCRATCHED No1 ISORICH just has to go into your quaddie. He has blown punters out in the last two and keeps on running well. He will probably go around at $10 plus again, just throw him in.
VALUE RUNNER: No6 UNEQUIVOCAL
