NBA Week 1 in review
We take a look back at the opening week of the NBA.
Gordon Hayward’s injury
The competitive landscape of the Eastern conference has dramatically changed with the Boston Celtics’ big name acquisition, Gordon Hayward, dislocating his ankle within 6 minutes of his Celtics debut.
Hayward’s injury looks to mark the end of their Eastern Conference title hopes, whereas the C’s now need to focus on making the playoffs.
The Cavaliers now seemingly have a straight path to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Rise of Giannis
Last year’s winner of the ‘Most Improved’ award is hot on the path to being a challenger for this year’s MVP award. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the Milwaukee Bucks most dangerous weapon and early signs indicate that he might have a Russell Westbrook type season.
Giannis is a freak of nature and his wingspan and athleticism is unmatched by anyone else in the league.
Regular Season MVP – Giannis Antetokounmpo @ approx. $4
Rookie Simmons leading the pack
Another athletic yet talented forward is Ben Simmons. The Australian opened his campaign with consecutive double doubles.
Simmons is playing like a veteran and is just so much bigger than when he was drafted over a year ago.
We recommended a play on Simmons for rookie of the year at approx. $3.
Upcoming tips - Wednesday
Toronto @ San Antonio Spurs
The Raptors are coming off a big win against Philli, whilst San Antonio has slowly been working on life without Kawhi. The home court will be the deciding factor here and the Spurs are the play at anything under -6.
